Have you ever discovered truly obscure secrets/easter eggs?

Hmm, so only a few Codexians are hardcore enough to have found such obscure things? Whew, I don't feel as noobish now!

Hats off to Black for that one, and the other intrepid souls who have found stuff themselves!

Haha, the second one is actually Demonaz.

I think it was half-orc fighter/cleric for Abbath and Half-elf fighter/mage for Demonaz, though it may have been thief/mage instead since he seems to be stealth there.

That is p. kvlt.

I'm not sure if it's really obscure enough, but when Jagged Alliance 2 came out, I eventually decided to send flowers to Meduna. Deidranna then slapped Eliott.

i discovered car and got Exploitation Malus and Nostalgia Bonus in NotR without hints, but these are hardly obscure.
also, knowing similar easter egg from System Shock 2, i got an applause for scoring in basketball with a head in Bloodlines.

I found that one out on my own as well.

I discovered Algernon and small base under Toxic Caves in F2. Dunno about obscurity of this, but it was very fun.

I've posted this before -- and still don't know if this is a legitimate Peter North (porn star) reference on Bioware's part or if its just 9 different coincidences rolled in one.

Seen other easter eggs and blah blah but I can't think of any that other people don't already know about... or that I assume such.

I did find some weird graffiti on the end of a small tunnel in Gothic 3 in the Nordmar regions (behind where the Shadowbeast that ate the Nordmarian who was going to the tomb of his ancestor), if you keep going behind it and jump over the debris and rubble there's a small empty area there with some writing on the back end -- no clue what it means. Found similar stuff like that in some other areas of Gothic 3 too -- not sure if that was by PB or by the fan-patch.

No I remember that. And yes, it just seems far too deliberately written (all that stuff about handling himself and his wood) to not be a Peter North reference. And yes, I lolled.

Speaking of random easter eggs - it's not exactly a secret, but fucking hard to randomly find - if you cast freedom in the right part of the underdark caverns, you'll release a guy that's been trapped by an imprisonment spell, making him appear.

That runs into bloodlines, does it? You do know there's also an equivalent one in Deus Ex?

I may have found stuff in Deus Ex that counts as easter eggs. I've kind of lost note of what is a usual find and what isn't, as I've played the game through literally about 20 times (ocd I know). Certainly I've never encountered a faq or walkthrough that has everything in the game in it. Hell most don't even have the hidden medibot just off the starting dock in the first level (you need to use a hacking device or a picklock to access it, panel is in a slightly odd spot - mostly just because it's at waist height in an area where you don't really have reason to be looking there), and I don't even think that was intended to be particularly obscure.

Another neat trick is to yell "FLIPFLOP", but this only works on the Apple II version of the game.

What does it do? Skyway pops up and joins your party?

It turns all the graphics upside-down, at least until you yell FLIPFLOP again.

A few more Easter Eggs I've heard of and/or found myself:

Thief 2: In the mission where you're supposed to break into the police station, throw a scouting orb over the wall to your immediate left where you start. You should see two dancing zombies.

Blood not only had secrets, it had Super-Secrets as well. I had read several FAQs about Blood that revealed tons of stuff, but none of them mentioned these Super-Secrets until a few months after I had found one by accident.

I've heard about some anti-Ewok Easter Eggs in Dark Forces, but I never got around to checking. Dark Forces is one of the few FPS games that make me seasick.

Diablo: I'll just quote the entry.

This little Easter Egg is a little hard to do. You'll need a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photo-Paint. In fact, this isn't even in the game itself. What you do is you have to go to Diablo's Setup program, which is on the CD. At the main screen, press Print Screen. This will Copy the main setup screen to the Clipboard. Then, press Escape and get out of Setup. Run your graphics program, and then Paste the screen shot into a new document. Now comes the hard part. It's really not hard if you know what you're doing, but many computer users probably don't. What you need to do is use the Fill tool, change Color Tolerance to 0 (that's a Zero), and select a high contrast color such as pink, green, blue, or white. Now, click the Fill tool in the spaces between Diablo's horns. Two secret messages will pop up: "BUY WAR II" and "NATALIE PORTMAN ROCKS".

It's a little creepy, considering Portman's age back in 1996.

Not at all, Leon the Professional came out in 1994, and Portman was indeed awesome in it. It made me fall in love with her <3.

+1

As far as easter eggs go, I don't remember finding any. The only thing I can think of is accidentally discovering a witch coven in Daggerfall and then realizing there were many others, scattered through the land.

You telling me her smoking that cig didn't turn you on? Shit, I was a pre-teen at the time but she made my balls drop.

Anyway, I can link some crazy easter eggs other people have compiled, but the best one is probably Goatse in Legend of Zelda 3.

Then there's the secret from Blood Omen 1 that was barely unearthed a few months ago. This one made me fucking cry, as I have played and replayed Blood Omen like 50 times. There's a secret entrance to a building in Vasserbunde that teleports you to a ship.

There's also an easter egg basketball room (with hoop and ball) in Thief: TDP.

No one knew about it until earlier this year. Possibly the best kept secret in gaming history? I had honestly explored every friggin' inch of that game, even to the point where I walked through rivers to the ends the game map to just see dead end after dead end.

Spent hours waiting for timing to unlock doors (based on moon phase/lightning storm), etc.

Had no fuggin' idea about it until I saw it online.

What does the mace in PS:T exactly say? Does it have a lot of dialog?
Everything in T has a lot of dialogue. But seriously, it has things to say. It has additional things to say regarding Fall From Grace and Baator. And maybe few other thing but I rarely played as a fighter so I wouldn't know.
