I did that with Mount and Blade years ago, and felt ripped off when Warband came out with exactly the same engine, except interaction with the world was slightly more fleshed out.

As for this expansion pack, I gave it a try and I must say, it seriously adds a shit load of chaos. To describe it simply, it feels as though you're fighting several battles at once. In addition to the dungeon and the raids on the town, you have to worry about deserters, traitors and keeping the population content, alive (not raid related) and healthy.
As for my first town in this expansion, it has been filled with raids and dissenters and I am practically screwed as a result - all that remains right now is the steward and a gambler as well as a few citizens; the rest were killed (and some several times I might add) and my equipment has been worn down to breaking point.

As mentioned previously, all the quests are essentially all fedex crap; slay a specific monster, slay n monsters, fetch x, deliver x to y, talk to y, escort y, collect n of x. You get the idea.

Here's a bit on Recettear, an indie twist on the action JRPG game (yes, I know I just triggered some vomit reflexes around here by saying that...). They sold 100,000 copies this year, mostly through Steam, which is remarkable no matter how you slice it. But it was not entirely a ringing success:

Heh. I once stumbled upon what i assume is a bug : the town generated already saved, and EVERYONE in it had a quest. EVERYONE. And apparently half the town migrated into dungeons or something, where they quickly got killed, and as a result every level had like 5 ghosts. EVERY LEVEL. Plus quests from monsters.

As far as I know they actually don't charge much for selling games on Steam. Of course 'not much' doesn't actually mean anything although we don't and won't have access to details since that would really hurt the company if they released them. It's how business work, you hide everything and show to new partners like they're getting a great deal while in reality it's not much better or not better at all than deals with other companies. If they were to release all their sales or agreements data they would fall because getting good deals would be almost impossible.

But...but...but....PC gaming is dead, isn't it? Surely the shift of publisher resources towards console gaming must be because of the inherent decline of the PC market, and not because of poor understanding/servicing of the PC market?
