Yeah, that 30cm neck is just too sexy.

Hope there will be a lesbian sex scene in which she fucks another npc with her head.

What the hell happened to Bioware? I mean granted everything they have done has been average at best since the Infinity games....but WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THEM???
EA.

Honestly, Bioware has been shit since NWN. EA hasn't done anything to them that they would not have done to themselves.

^^ Truth. Prior to signing with EA, BioWare had a whole bunch of RPG's that were derivative to begin with. Their games were decent at best before EA, and could be pretty bad at worst (NWN OC and Jade Empire).

In fact, I'd say that Mass Effect 2 is their best game since Baldur's Gate 2, and I really think BioWare would benefit more from making action-adventure titles with some stats and RPG elements because they seem to be better at doing that. All of this pretense that they're making complex role-playing games is fucking silly and the sooner they drop it, the better.

Since when does NWN count as good--in either case, given the current state of RPGs in general I don't think that Bioware's doing so bad--what else is there to compare DA to?

second image does not follow his shoulder lines. His shoulders are, for lack of a better word, and a term that is familiar to me "Pretender shoulders" (Insult I used from a shitty TV Series, main characters shoulders drooped like this)

Whereas with the loli, her shoulderline is clearly defined, and that abnormal fucking giraffe neck (are elfs into the African practice of Neck stretching?) is clear due to the paint lines.

I remember a cosplay thread a little while back, some bird that was declared a tranny by some, and one of the resident 'experts' cleared it up by looking at her collar bone. Mayhap another anatomy expert could step in here?

No. Your shoulder lines are based on the outline of a furry piece of garment. Your mistake is taking them for shoulders when the mailed arms don't follow the same projection in the first place. But whatever.

well bioware says it will be as good as bg,
characrers will be as memorable as minsc or edwin...

bioware said also that origins were spiritual successor of bg..
i kept in mind these words every time i wanted to make a side quest and i approached a memorable QUEST BAGS - the greatest invention of bioware for RPG genre! which gave us such a big portion of deep and athmospherical, complexive rpg experience! :M

BG wasn't really that good to begin with, and in a lot of ways DA is like BG. I really don't know why all this bile is directed at DA given that by now most of us should know what to expect from Bioware...

So we are at the point where not even BG considered good. I wonder when will we reach the new low, when Fallout and Planescape are "not really good". :decline:

Where have you been in the past 9 years of Codex? BG has always been considered "meh".

Also, Fallout sucks because of lack of rat diplomacy and PST is a jRPG. :smug:

BG was never considered good, especially a good rpg. Sorry to burst your 2010 expectations.

The only similarities I can spot are that it's both Fantasy genre, there's the RTwP and that it's party-based. Other than that? Very little in common.

1. Premise. Despite the over-arching Bhaalspawn story, the player doesn't know anything about it until very late in the game. Until then it's about a conspiracy that the players knows very little about.

2. World design. The world is actually much more open and detailed in BG. BG contains places that are actually memorable, like Candlekeep, for instance. I can't pick a single memorable area in DA that would stand out in a good way. I can find you many examples of weaksauce zones, but of good, none.

3. Levels of power attributed to PC. BG, you're a starting adventurer, your gear is weak, and will remain pretty weak and down-to-earth til the end since BG is a low-level adventure. Yes, you're a super-being as a matter of fact, but of that, very little manifests during BG1 save for those special abilities. DA, you're immediately the obvious Chosen One, Last Grey Knight Of Ferelden. You'll get a ton of uber loot and uber spells and will Fuck Shit Up With A Press Of An Awesome Button(TM).

4. Story flow. Story flow in BG is natural, in DA it's forced and botched. Actually it's botched in every Bio game that's been made after BG1, but that's a different story.

5. Graphics/sounds. BG is made with a good degree of love, the world is presented in an excellent way - this is reflected in the enormous size of the game, but basically, graphics and sound blend excellently with the general world design. Perhaps this should be part of world design really. Anyway, DA does nothing of the sort. Ambients were rather poor, and graphics/art direction are just poor. Just the pixellated backgrounds with obvious seams are enough to feel annoyed - Borderlands with a smaller budget managed to make excellent backdrops.

Those five are enough to distance quite severely from DA, in my opinion. And yes, technically DA does have some better things going for it, like a more involved combat system for the melee, but on the overall, DA pales as an RPG of its time before BG as an RPG of its time.

Even though it's mechanically inferior to a lot of other systems to begin with, especially compared to its contemporaries. Still, BG is better than DA in a whole range of aspects if we compare just those two.

You are an idiot.

"actually memorable, like Candlekeep"

And, thsi proves it. What wa smemorable? the fetch quests? Rat killing? Murdering 1 hp assassins armed with daggers? LMFAO

BG is not as good as DA. period.
