Oblivion was a so-so gaming experience with >9000MB of mods.
Mr. Fix-It to the rescue!

Fuck that! I installed countless mods and could never remain interested for more than a few hours. After an initial attempt, my desire to keep playing, due to my knowledge of how utterly shit the design was, was utterly gone. The game failed to boulster any libidinal desires within my loin, and as such, was an utter piece of shit, stained onto the world of gaming.

Worst shiny turd ever. No amount of mods could fix it.

Recent video improved the expected chance of Skyrim being any good about thousandfold. Chance of it being complete shit is now only 90%.
:smug:

Which video? I've already seen the retarded one with the dragon dropping the giant with gravity less than half Earths so what else is it?
The one showcasing scenery (mostly).

Was it this one?

If it is I mean... it looked decent considering the source. What am I missing? Generic Norse setting?
Beats the living crap out of generic Fisher-Price setting.

No it will be shit as a game.

As exploration porn it's easily worth a first day purchase if you actually have money to spare.

OLOLOLOLOL SKYRIM IS NOT AN RPG YOU ARE ALL FAGGOT WHO PLAY SHIT GAMES. IM GONNA GO PLAY FALLOUT WHERE SKILLS AND PERKS ARE ALL WELL BALANCED AND USEFUL, THERE ARE WAY MORE LOCATIONS TO EXPLORE THAN SKYRIM'S MINUSCULE 150 DUNGEONS AND THERE ARE CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES LIKE CHOOSING WHICH SKILLS TO USE TO KILL THE MASTER.

Is it not my position since the very first snippets about mechanics started surfacing?

Have I not raged enough about lack of spellmaker, lack of attributes and lack of initial builds indicating broken skill system?

I'll most likely pass, unless the game really has something going for it. Scenery porn is of value to me, but won't be nearly enough to justify purchase.

@Xi:
Looks about right.
You'd probably play it with nothing else to do, while staring at walls would probably still have an upper hand over vanilla oblivious.

I've never bought a TES game and I regret torrenting Oblivion. 10 hours of slow connection for nothing, so no, I don't care about Skyrim.

Wait, I've been kind of out of the loop recently, so help me out here: Mastermind is the new idiot on the 'dex? Boy, they do come and go so fast.

I chose answer number 3. I might buy it after the price drops. I hope that, at that time, honest reviews will be out. I'm especially interested in how big the annoyance factor of the dragon spam will be. Cliff Racer level? We will see.

I like exploration games, but after Oblivion, I'm very skeptical.

I'll probably pick it up. Bethesda has fouled up a fair number of times, but I really can't fault them for tweaking and altering their systems with each new release. I found Oblivion to be a real turd, and had serious issues with Fallout 3...but Fallout 3 also remedied several of Oblivion's problems. I'm not going to run around screaming that it was "incline," but they moved in a better direction with it and it'll be interesting to see if they continue the trend.. Ultimately, Skyrim probably won't be much more than a shiny hiking sim for me, but that isn't always a bad thing and I'm curious to play with their Radiant Story system and see what's what. I'm not expecting a return to Morrowind, but I suspect that I'll at least have enough fun with it to justify the purchase.

I won't be getting it anytime soon. I need a new pc to run the damn thing, which I won't be getting for a while, and I refuse to get a console, period.

Pretty much, I'll probably nab a used copy for $20 bucks in like eight months if I find it. Fuck it, sometimes retarded hiking simulators hit the spot for me, at least the first few hours. As bad as Oblivion was, it was pretty fun for the first few hours before you realized how shallow and lifeless the game was.

Really, I don't care at all for the RPG aspects of the game. I've just come to accept the fact that this part of the franchise is dead. If I get a somewhat enjoyable hack n' slashy hiking simulator with a semi-interesting setting, then it's worth $20.

But whatever, no rush.

I'd be reveling too. Pretty impressive to make that many posters mad in just a year and a half and to keep going.

I like Mastermind. He can be p. childish and I disagree with most of his posts, but the amount of butthurt he causes is glorious.

How about shamelessly dumbing them down beyond all reason and generally shitting on their own setting in hope of making some quick buck off PJfags?

If he actually thinks that, it makes him even more retarded.

I don't ignore dumbfucks because they cause me any butthurt. I ignore them because their posts are generally not worth reading (though I'll probably at least start reading most of them once), and certainly not worth having to scroll over repeatedly when visiting a thread.

Do you, for example, block ads because they drive you fucking mad and frothing with rage, or because they clutter shit up and generally get in the way?

If messedmind considers being piss receptacle gratifying, that's his problem, but he shouldn't delude himself thinking he's anything more.

It's funny how "dumbing them down beyond all reason" still leaves them several magnitudes more complex than Fallout or Shitbox games.

The most satisfying thing here by far is that Todd Howard is raking it in doing what you enjoy doing while you're stuck here theorizing about ideal RPG systems with the rare codex golden shower drizzling on your face as your only reward.

And as if that wasn't enough, you're also Polish. :smug:

You're both reptiles. You have that much in common.
That would be an interesting segregation - split of reptilian features per person. From what I notice Mastermind's part consists of your typical lizard brain and possibly an inability to breathe and run at the same time.

I did not install a single mod, and I also remained interested for only a few hours.

Guess which one of us got better value for time and effort?

See - that's what's wrong with most of you Oblivion-ultra-haters. You expected more from the game than you actually got, and you invested more time and effort into the game than those of us who played it, stopped playing it, were okay with it, forgot about it, and move on with it.

The funny thing is that as someone who was okay with Oblivion, I never participated in the billion Oblivion threads on RPG Codex. But the ones who did were the people who liked it the least. They spent more time talking or modding the game than we did. They even spent a lot of time whining about how they couldn't talk about Oblivion on ESF boards!

I was going to buy it until I saw that new video of the intro. Total bait-and-switch. :decline: Looks like i'll be looking for a copy at Mos Eisley Spaceport.
