We are playing every euro evening (7 PM GMT and later).

Sometimes not everyone arrives to play so you may join us. We start when enough people (at least 3) are there so keep that in mind.

Here's what you have to do:

- Ready your Icewind Dale Complete GoG version or a comparable version which is IWD + HoW + Trials of Luremaster and latest patch (comes with Trials iirc)
- Pre-generate your char and if your level will be too low you will be given an additional XP.
- Be a member of a prestigious Codex Diversity Squad steam group and join its chat at that time where we gather and blame each other for problems with a connection (and get help for that too)
- It's an old game and takes some effort to be properly set up for MP - so if you are behind a router make sure that following ports are forwarded: tcp/udp 2300-2400, 6073, 47624. If you are behind a router but don't know how to forward ports you'll receive help in a chat or try looking for it here: http://portforward.com/

Right now we are using a direct IP server so no Hamachi required.

If you join, make a mage or some such. Anything other than DPS. We already have 2 clerics, a paladin, a mage and a....thief ? (is that what hoaxy is playing ?) In anycase, they deal enough damage that I (one of the clerics) can sashay around the back and let them deal with anything. And I still get XP too! :yeah:

I always wondered how Infinity Engine MP worked. Is it fun?
.I wonder if multiple pauses issues are fixed. I had those problems in Baldur's Gate when playing with a friend. Someone would pause and another would unpause etc.
It didn't seem like a great game to multi compared to Diablo 2 or even Diablo 1. My session lasted an hour before my friend got bored.

Because of a Popamole Engine(tm) that Codex uses now I can't edit current roster into the first post so here it is and who we will need:

Mage (me)
Fighter/Thief (Hoaxmetal)
Palladin (chzr)
Cleric/Ranger (Renegen)
Cleric (TripJack)
Cleric (anus_pounder)

So don't roll a fucking cleric. Another pally is ok. Mage will be good (buffs/dps), druid is also good. Bard is good. No need for Thief atm.

To answer RK47's complaint - the issue is there but we have a rule that only the dude who paused unpauses. Works good enough thus far.
IWD is p. fun in MP. The only thing that's the problem (and a rather noticeable one) is that it's real time. It's manageable so far but TB would've been vastly better.
It's also AD&D2 so there are no huge numbers and other clusterfuck you are used to in D&D3

if you're considering joining, here's what classes would be useful or not at this point-

fighter: decent choice. dps is always welcome but we don't really need another tank and ranged support makes more sense now
ranger: not that useful when there's ranger/cleric, although some ranged support doesn't hurt
paladin: no reason to roll paladin over other warrior class since one paladin is enough for diplomacy and spells are covered by clerics
cleric: similar to paladin, 1 more cleric will be redundant with current amount of them
druid: great choice, covers more spells and opens few new dialogue options.
mage: good choice, but there will be a problem getting spell scrolls for 2 mages, pick a specialist to complement kraze better.
thief: no need since there already is one but again, anuything ranged is useful.
bard: excellent choice because bards got ability to sing in how, making them extremely good support, especially for full party.

order of usefulness:
1. bard, druid, mage
2. fighter, ranger
3. thief
4. cleric, paladin

So bros have you tested if lag is tolerable? Last time we played with chzr it made the game nearly unplayable.

we had issues mostly because directip/hamachi conflicts which are now solved since everyone can connect via directip after opening ports. the lag itself is minimal, not sure why it's caused (i experienced it in several coop tries before), but if there is any, enough pausing during combat (inevitable with so many players) almost eliminates it.

I mean some of sort of desync. As if you bro casts a spell against a horde of monsters then it's your turn and you notice that monsters all over the place some are dead, some just changed positions. Made casting AoE purely a guesswork often hitting bros instead of baddies. It didn't kick in until that Yuan-ti hideout.

chzr This is good.

I have IWD ready for mp with ports forwarded and everything, but that time sucks for me. I'll see if I can free up some time tomorrow to join you.

Next to no lag in our games. There is one sometimes where monsters and you will jump 2 squares, but most often than not we don't notice any.
Certainly nothing gamebreaking.

But I think it may have been mostly due to hamachi/directip fucking each other over. When anus left the game worked smoothly.

We are not too far into the game (just got to Kuldahar and did some shopping plus a few diplo-quests there) so whomever will replace whomever doesn't miss much.

This is more of a time where bros start gathering. We start playing whenever there are enough people so there can be some waiting.

P.S. CodexDS also runs L4D2 Versus games almost daily. They are really enjoyable and balanced - ask Losh, he'll confirm.

Shit, I didn't know that two sessions have already gone by. That was quick, I saw you playing ToEE and thought you weren't on IWD. I'll try to be on for the next one or whatever if there's room. No problems if someone takes precedence.

Bro if you will roll druid or bard instead of your cleric - I'll give you enough XP for lvl4.
Right now Anus' and Jack's heals are more than enough (in fact anus seems to start to lose interest because his cleric is slacking more often than not but he likes his cler too much) and we certainly lack one of these chars to make our party whole.

Meh, sure. I'll roll a druid then. I don't really benefit from 2 weapon fighting anyway.

Just did a 4 man session with Kraze, Chzr and Renegen. Was pretty fun especially the time we got raped twice by the same enemy. Also, I ran right into Skyway's beam and Renegen friendly fired Chzr some time later. Games alright, I guess.
