And it begins, the battle against the yellow faction!

fpGJzWYh

Dimitri starts the battle by casting disrupting ray on my vamp lords and sending his horsemen to my group.

2012-11-12%2010_58_03-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

However despite the debuff, this doesn't stop me from killing his peasants in one hit with the afflicted vampires

I then move in my mummies and taze the cavaliers dropping their stack of three to one then finish them with the skeletons:smug: too easy. But I got some skeletons out of this plus

2012-11-12%2011_02_04-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

After the battle I touch the treasure chest and level up, choosing wisdom to max out.

I then click on my castle and buy the liches which will give me a good ranged units once I let their numbers build.

While I'm moving around to Yellow's castle this green chick appears out of the wood work with her weak army. But given how close she is to my castle she's a big threat. I didn't hire anybody on that turn since it was all non-necromancer heroes which is lame.

2012-11-12%2011_05_05-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

However on the next turn I am able to hire Sandros, the Mexican skeleton who shall be the bearer of incline to the dirty hippie king. As well as spread delicious flatbread based foods to this land, A true patriot indeed :salute:

Before seizing the castle for my control I decided to head to "Xanadu" for a little training in stats. I was hoping for a boost in defense but this is alright.

Entering the castle I am greeted by a very underwhelming defense force. :decline:
frown.png
The captain throws out a disrupting ray at my vamps which I counter with steel skin then fly to kill in the chevalier, then the remainder of the battle is spent skipping turns as the swordsmen waddles to me Archers dieing from a counterattack after stabbing the vampire lords for minimal damage and finally killing the swordsmen in one hit. Didn't even bother getting the results snapped since the exp was minimal and I only got one skeleton out of this.

As you guys can see the town is halfway developed, I add to it by buying another market so I can cheapen deals for resources to finish up my necromancer town. Also I hire a random hero to cover the base as a deterrent to any invasions as I ferret out Kilburn and tag the nearby mine.

sekJ7MWp

Soon enough on the next turn as I make Roxana walk back down I see the cowardly Lord Kilburn and initiate a battle to defeat him and take his mullet.

2012-11-12%2012_11_42-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

9cgcTeDE

I do the usual of casting Steel skin on vamps and going after the archers to prevent my other units from getting damaged as they march to his side to kill everything. The surprise at how the archer didn't go down and lost only a chunk of their stack keyed me in that this wouldn't be as easy I'd imagine it to be. The other units mainly focus on my vamp as the mummies and skeletons march unharmed.

hRmGjQ7F

I cast bloodlust so I can take out that swordsman, while the mummy creeps closer to the fray. On the enemy side the pixies rush at the vamps and get killed after attacking them. Pikemen poke at my mummies and the other two attack my vamps.

phIksrSX

Ey4CVI4U

The rest of my actions are spent attacking the remnants of the units that got weakened from being countered while my vamps and skeletons finished everything off.

y97zMhgM

I failed at getting the timing for capturing enemy movements but as you can see this battle was tougher than everything so far. Also it did take more than the usual amount of turns to kill everything but still far from being terribly difficult

xY9cwjC5

b2YCd4VX

Anyway a whole lot of :incline: happens to my hero after beating Kilburn as not only do I get his mullet but also an artifact. Also I guess the refill for skeletons isn't that bad considering it I gained half my skeletons lost back.

hutALAhO

I also get a level up and the ability to make more cash which is always good, but I also get..

tYG6Os7J

This

Anyway what should do next after just toppling Yellow?
Should I just focus on locating the other computer players while building up my forces?
Or should I focus on acquiring more resources while exploring?
And what about the other heroes I'm not really using?

I ask because I used the two resource locating spells and the results were pretty lackluster

Is Estates really a useful skill to have for your primary hero ? Come to think of it, is Roxie staying with you for the next mission or will you have to begin it with another random level 1 hero ?

Can you develop your new town just as much as your first one ? If so, I'd suggest doing that (while also exploring, of course).

Debatable, but extra gold is always a good thing to have especially when you want to field expensive units.
No, you always start with a new character and even if you did luck out and get the same hero their stats would be reset.

And yes I could develop the new town alongside my main, but my main takes priority

With the might of Phelot joining your army, you shall be unstoppable!

Since the heroes don't carry over to other missions, engage standard operating procedures - acquire resources with helper heroes, spend resources to max out your starter town and only develop the conquered ones afterwards (or if enough resources remain to waste), always ferry the new weeks's worth of faction units to the main hero by a butler (unless there's a mage guild upgrade warranting a re-visit), focus your main hero on fighting random mobs, aquiring XP chests and artefacts - and take the attack to the enemy as soon as you get reinforcements. Time to finish a mission counts towards the score, you know.

I plan to let my cash reserves build before splurging on the good units on Sandros so he can take that artifact easily and ferry it and his units to my main. While I use my main to explore the south-west and the new wizard guy to tag the close by mines.

Yeah it's been while... But now it's time for a megaupdate!!!!

Alright from the point where we last went off I just beaten that filthy wannabe knight Lord Kilburn and took his mullet. What did for several turns was just explore and take the nearby resource points. Nothing too exciting so I didn't take any pictures. Only thing of importance was the heroes of Green entering my territory and finally the appearance of Orange Hero.

2012-12-03%2013_54_17-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

One of the green heros got too damn close for comfort and I suspected a potential take over move, so I chased after her with Rox. Amusingly enough the computer bolted to the Alchemy lab which was guarded by a mob of Elves and lost the fight to them.

2012-12-03%2013_58_16-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Anyway I decided to test out the liches along with the other stacks that were on Sandros to get the artifact close to my starting castle. The strategy here was to let them come here while my liches pelted them with the dust bomb and let my other units attack the ones that got too close.

2012-12-03%2013_58_31-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2013_59_02-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I decided to push my luck and fight the paladin which could potentially massacre my army what with pallies being strong against undead. In practice however, it was a total joke as there was only one and he died on the counterattack after he struck my vamps.

2012-12-03%2014_10_39-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_12_06-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_12_10-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

With Roxie I managed to attack the weakest Green hero and rid myself of one hero

2012-12-03%2014_12_23-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

And not too long after that I chase off another encroaching Green hero which will lead to a battle for their only castle.

2012-12-03%2014_12_34-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Meanwhile I chase off the Elves with Sandros and nab me the Alchemy lab.

2012-12-03%2014_14_31-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Yeah this is a pretty crap screen shot. The significance of this is that I traded a bunch of wood and mercury for five crystals so I can get to building the laboratory next turn.

2012-12-03%2014_15_05-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Now after chasing that hero in the previous screen shot I follow her to her castle. For this part I savescummed again, since this one was carrying that Ice ray spell which for some reason really hurts my undead units. In previous encounters she managed to wipe out my new Liches on Sandros and that was not good so I savescummed on that. Anyway I retreated so she wouldn't chase after me, and hoped she'd either camp or move away. So I could either attack or wait for Sandros to ferry in new reinforcements since Roxie's troops are fairly meager.

2012-12-03%2014_18_37-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_24_05-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_24_54-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

So when she moved away from the castle, for who knows what reason, I charged the castle and was meet with not that great of a garrison. As you can see I opened up with a death ripple to make this fight quicker since they're all fairly squishy. The druids got one shotted and everyone else lost a chunk to their stacks. The pixies bum rushed my vamps and died after the attack and the elves manged to kill five of them before and after my attack on them. I decided while skipping through my other units' turns to use magic and well I killed them off.

2012-12-03%2014_25_00-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_25_05-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I casted death ripple to weaken all of the enemies to speed through this. Druids die on taking it then the pixies get killed by vamps' counter and I finish off the elves after vamps attack with some magic.

2012-12-03%2014_25_13-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Get a level up and increase my wisdom

2012-12-03%2014_25_47-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Here's the newest castle, it's kind of developed

2012-12-03%2014_26_12-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

With Sandros I go after to the alchemy lab and the elves scatter, after that I go to the orcs.

2012-12-03%2014_29_08-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

They don't scatter but the battle is pretty simple. My units that did the killing was Vamps, Liches, and skellies. Did the usual of casting bloodlust on vamps and one shotted one stack. Liches killed another and then I moved my skellies on haste to another which they killed next turn. Vamps killed another and the combat was ended when the liches one shotted the last orc group.

2012-12-03%2014_29_17-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2014_29_38-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Level ups ensue, and I choose pathfinding and necromancy, not like it really matters as my main will do the fighting.

2012-12-03%2014_37_04-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Back at my base I dump my gold to buy fours as I lack a mine and I need them for my lab.

2012-12-03%2014_37_41-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Next turn this pops up and now I'm only left with Orange to fight with.

2012-12-03%2014_48_05-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I finally buy the bone dragons and spend my money on getting more troops and my very first bone dragon.

2012-12-03%2014_51_03-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Here's an update on Roxana's stats.

2012-12-03%2014_53_34-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I go buy a cloud just cause.

2012-12-03%2015_04_56-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I use the harnessed troops for Roxie against the Medsas(ae?) and it pretty much relied on my liches shooting them while everyone else meleed. They got real close together which came in handy as the Lich dust balls do splash damage and I end up killing my skellies with the splash but also winning the battle.

2012-12-03%2015_05_07-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Another level up but whatever. I pick wisdom

2012-12-03%2015_06_14-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

And here's something more important! See for the longest while Orange hasn't really done anything but wander within their territory which happens to be walled off except for some access points guard by monsters. I figured they'd continue to stay within their area since it would be smarter to not risk any unit loss by letting the enemy go through them, which makes sense seeing as how close I am to their entry points. Turns out they killed one of the mobs which happened to be Orc Chiefs and snuck beneath my notice.Up until that moment I'd just assumed they bunker down and I'd just build my forces up at a leisurely pace and then kill their insane number stacks.

2012-12-03%2015_09_18-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Going back to my necro castle I invest in the only upgrade that matters and that is Liches! I then buy what few are in the building then spend cash on upgrading the rest.

2012-12-03%2015_14_12-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I then spend a bunch of turns walking Roxie and Sandros closer to each other and ferry off the reinforcements and ditch the mummy since my skeletons score more kills than they do.

2012-12-03%2015_17_36-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Really lame battle ensues as I catch up to the Orange hero and win because he flees before I can kill his pigs. As the remaining battles will show, my dragons really didn't get to be used much

After derping around and trying to find the exit/entrance they're coming out I find it, and then storm their unprotected and woefully underwhelmingly guarded castle.

Next turn I go and... YAWN a really easy battle and my dragons being underused.

2012-12-03%2015_19_35-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

2012-12-03%2015_23_52-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Another easy fight, and afterwards during my turn and the next I complete my mage guild

2012-12-03%2015_32_41-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

On my way to get those spells I come across another Orange hero and get an easy fight.

2012-12-03%2015_36_24-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

I don't make it in time to fend of orange from taking my castle, they also left before I can take the hero out.
Easy fight and another level where I take navigation because I'm close to winning it's just a formality now.

2012-12-03%2015_36_59-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

As you can see I've been on this map for quite a while.

2012-12-03%2015_39_58-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Some time later the same hero that took over the castle did it again, so I reloaded and bought a hero and kitted loaded her with units to act as a guard dog against the last hero. Why? Because I was feeling too lazy to persuit and would rather mash end turn and run the clock to get their castle to zero.

2012-12-03%2015_42_54-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Some time passes as I mash end turn...

2012-12-03%2015_47_47-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

and BAM! :yeah:

2012-12-03%2015_47_55-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

Get this cutscene with congratulations and our next briefing. Seems there's some barbarian rabble his father didn't bother dealing with, and now we're tasked to bring some civilization down to them :obviously:

2012-12-03%2015_48_40-Heroes%20of%20Might%20and%20Magic%20II.png

And we get a pretty straightforward mission objective that's the same as last.
And now we're done with the first mission and on to the second!

As for some final words, well I could have been quicker with the conquering and I also wished I'd gotten the dragons sooner since I didn't get to use them.

Changing subjects, we're on the second mission and there's some branching up ahead which will be fun to choose when we get there. Also what class of hero to play as next mission? Obviously if your choice but I'm leaning favorably to everything but the barbarian. As always I look forward to seeing comments and bitching about my skill or lack thereof.

Warlock's funny. Go for that. Oh, and if you're already savescumming, you might want to do so when you build the fifth level of the mages guild. You want that town portal spell. It's just so darn useful...

Go for Warlock, indeed.

Most fun class.

They get a lot of fliers, which really negates the advantages of ranged focus classes like Fairies.

They're the ones with black dragons as well, are they not? The immunity to magic rocks. Get black dragons only, cast armageddon = win

Well, you really are derping through it, I'll give you that :)

As a first and most beneficial improvement, I would like you to turn your attention to the noble art of spell checking - makes for a much better LP, and reading badly spelled fragments of sentence corpses beneath the :obviously: screenshots of a good game is jarring. Jarring, I tell you!

Then, take a Warlock because they are lovely, and perhaps the experience will be enlightening. Try to make less random uninformed choices ("which could potentially massacre my army what with pallies being strong against undead" - what in the world are you talking about?). And if you're going to replay battles, try out different tactics and find those that lose you the least amount of units, since you appear to be shedding perfectly good units left and right... Not that you needed it to win the mission, but being sloppy is a bad habit you can do without.

Warlock it is! Was it even any contest when they get Puff the OP Dragon?

Anyway yeah I'll look more thoroughly through my sentences and fix their grammar.

As for my statement involving the paladin, I mistakenly thought the Crusader's bonus against undead was also the pallie's ability opposed to being able to attack twice.
