Anybody remember this game from 1998?

Haven't played it in ages. Considering reinstalling it. Wondering what the Kodex Kritical Konsensus on this is. All I remember is giving myself Caesar's salary, pissing off Caesar, then killing his army with my hordes of gladiators.

Well, for one, they actually introduced variety into the city maps. I recall quickly getting bored of C2 because the only thing that changed between games, at least on the city level, was that one fucking river that ran across the map.

I definitely miss the province level, but eh, a good concept doesn't necessarily make for a more enjoyable game.

Edit: And where's that fucking LP that was promised?

Oh, and:

Nice debt.

(At least for whoever uploaded this screenshot. Just noticed the watermark.)

...And what the fuck is with the three wells + fountain combinations?

Yeah, I got the screenshots from IGN. Only site I found with decent resolution screenshots. Anyway, I think the Caesar III LP will have to wait a bit. I haven't LP'd before so I'm probably going to LP something easier - Chrono Cross - first to get the hang of it.

I remember being horribly disappointed in Caesar 3 when it came out, though it really lame that they removed the provincial level and the tactical combat mode. Didn't really get back into the series until Zeus, actually.

The provincial level was crap anyway. The economic model that they added (raw materials -> manufacture industry -> distribution) was far superior and needed much better planning than the previous one.

Sure, but I was like 11 years old at the time; it was more of an emotional response, really. I have since played quite a bit of Caesar 3, though mostly I play Pharaoh when the city-builder bug bites me.
