Hmm hmm, I kinda like the first-person more than third.
We'll see.

Basically Codex is responsible for the changes so y'all fuckers better put your money where your mouth is -- that said, I don't think they have any chance of hitting $230k. And $20ish entry price for this is too high. I doubt it'll have anything near the depth of Wasteland 2. A lot of these guys really overreach in setting their game-tier prices.

The Codex might be responsible for the change to turn-based, but we actually advised him against moving away from first person.

They should have said it's like a modern Gold Box game in space or alternatively like a mix of XCOM and Grimrock. Pledged but I doubt this is going anywhere. Damn shame.

Looks ok and 150.000 GBP is very modest for a game that looks a bit like System Shock. And it's really not like the art style and first impression is terrible or anything.

I dunno, if you go to page 8 you see most people jizzing over the switch to isometric combat.

It seems we can walk through fire without it harming us?

The grid-based movement in space ala Grimrock is just going to shit me off. Strangely enough I liked it in Grimrock but it annoys me watching it in that video. Maybe it feels different actually playing it.

But then they add "or free walk". Having both is just dumb. It shows a lack of commitment to one or the other. They should pick one (free walk) and stick to it.

... and now we go into combat mode which lets us see everything and it seems we can just drop our guys anywhere.

The game just seems confused. There's no clear direction to me about where they're going with this. Why would you even bother with free-walk if you can just hit combat mode and see the whole ship? It completely changes the game. Rather than exploring in FPS mode and having to walk around corners to see what's there, you can just instantly see the entire ship. The levels also look small when you do that. A 2x3 tile room is big in FPS mode but seems cramped in overview.

Oh look, crates to crouch behind.

Enemy walking animations look bad. Actually the enemies themselves just seem poorly designed. They're not really inspiring or "cool".

I think there's a cool game here - but it needs more work and a clear direction.

Right now, it's like they're trying to do two games. An FPS and a squad-based tactical game ala Space Hulk. Either one is interesting but they have to re-work the entire game to make it work one way or the other - and their enemies need to be way more inspiring.

Overall I was just left confused, not being entirely sure what it is they're doing.

Only $6k in 2 days of $150k? They're not going to make it.

I've vaguely been following this game, but it seems like the developer is just bumbling his way around with a vague idea and changing every system to something completely different every time someone says they don't like it. Hell, by the time the kickstarter campaign is finished it'll probably end up being an Infinity Engine clone game that turns into Gothic-style combat during enemy encounters.

Should have left it as a pure FPS -- either RT (yeah yeah boo hoo you butthurt faggots don't like Grimrock) or turn-based. The isometric option just didn't make sense to me. But they have no hope in funding it.

Yeah, this one is pretty much dead on arrival. Asking for wayyyy too much for an unknown team/ studio plus their tiers were not good. I mean, $400 for a boxed copy... still makes me go all...:x

Might as well turn this thread into something productive: allow me to beg the next Kickstarter game key freebie off of you before the regular leechers get it~

It hasn't tanked yet. 10k isn't bad at this stage. Could be better though - needs more updates!

Lol @ this poor guy. It's still at 10k out of 150k with 18 days left.

He's right. They should have another update and introduce a 4th point of view, this time a top-down style that makes everything look 2D. In this mode, you play the game like an RTS, harvesting gas resources and building a base.

It is disappointing they shifted from First to Third Person view, as I think the atmosphere in the FP version is much better. ind of like System Shock 2.

I don't mind the other issues with the 3rd person view because it is obvious it is only a proof of concept version. If well done, it can be quite good. And I do believe had this been successful they could have improved it vastly and removed the outstanding issues. Regarding that too, btw, I think it would be cheaper and more resource effective to stick with one view point for both exploration and combat. As I said before, preferably first person. If they redo their pitch and go with FP only I am sure their K-starter will be successful.

Also, DarkUnderlord Realms of Arkania had both Grid Based/Step by Step movement and a fully 3D movement option. I always used the latter, as it was much more fun (you felt as if you were flying)

I liked it better as Space Grimrock. Still it does not look that bad, i wonder why nobody pledges?
