Short interview with Chris Keenan: http://www.zero1gaming.com/interview-chris-keenan-of-inxile-entertainment-wasteland-2/

What next for the studio? What can we expect to see in the future?

Right now, we have two main focuses at inXile. One is moving into full production on Torment : Tides of Numenera. Many of the team members who were on Wasteland have now transitioned full time to Torment. Kevin Saunders and team have been spending the last year and a half working on an amazing design and prototyping out many of the core systems. This has allowed for a huge amount of iteration and planning. Now they’re moving along quite quick. A few people have stayed behind on Wasteland and will continue to support it with updates and maybe some surprise new features. We don’t want to simply release a game and call it quits. With a game this deep, we could work on it for years and never feel like it’s fully complete.

Doing a LP of the game solo on Ranger difficulty. Should be interesting. (And by solo, I mean 1-character that recruits other characters. I don't think the game is possible having just one character without the most arduous savescumming in gaming history, anyway.)

Here we go.

This sentiment right here is why so many of today's games feel like they're made for toddlers. Despite all the whining about "exclusion", the threshold to playing games has never been lower. That means the potential for a lot of people to be initially confused and we can't have that so we better put in prompts and railroading and handholding everywhere. Then this appears, a project nostalgia-tinged enough to arguably qualify as an unofficial remake, largely funded by and explicitly aimed at grognards who played its ilk a generation ago and what happens? It gets shat on because the design isn't Babby's First Arrpeegee. YOU fuck yourself.

Whoah, nice hostility you got there, how about you go fuck yourself you fucking cunt.

Why don't we ever get any devs who talk like that?

Hey, they're having their very own 'why can't WL2 be more like JA2' discussion. :P

This is a false argument, better art direction doesn't mean less art. Better design doesn't mean less design, though, honestly, you ask what I'd cut? Nearly all the skills, they are redundant and not-fun.
That's right, I think you should streamline the skills into one for Fighting, one for Talking and one for Doing Stuff to the Environment (provided it doesn't leave anyone *confused*). Take my advice, because I'm a hotshot developer with my head up my ass to the point where I believe my preference is the One True School of Game Design.
If you have further need of my services, I am currently employed in a former Eastern Bloc country where I find that the international relative wage rate matches my skillset quite fairly.

Also don't bring up my notoriously buggy five-year effort Alpha Protocol, that makes me butthurt.
Let me know when you feel better about yourself.

inXile made their bed, now they have to sleep in it. Nobody told them they had to make a 50+ hour RPG where the majority of that time involves killing things, walking, and opening locks.

Though the posters itt claiming that Fallout combat was better are quite :retarded: The combat content's not going to improve if you have half a dozen or more ways to shoot someone.

Need some feedback on the canyon location

I've met the silverback dude, he pitched me with his story.

Later I came to the monk at the gates, he gave me the quest to refill the grenades. When I go through the gates I meet a hostile group of silverback dudes. What am I supposed to do?

You can maneuver between the silverback dudes to their hideout - your monk escort will be quickly killed and you will be able to continue working with silverback dudes.

Composer?

Do they ask him why the ambient "music" track that plays through like 75% of the game has the sound of footsteps walking through it?
