IIRC, non-reserve units also increased Consumer Goods Demand in HoI3.

The main reason to switch from Volunteer Army towards Service By Requirement tho was to increase Manpower gain and NCO gain. Volunteer Army would be inferior when it came to replenishing losses and having full Efficiency for your army. But for a smaller country it was vital when it came to building up a base army with low IC.

Everyone march to Moscow sounds gud.
Keep your weak trolling in the F4 thread. Or go play Total War.

As for others:
NATO counters are not on the map, only in the division planner. The battle planner doesn't look any more robust than when they first unveiled it, even though it has apparently been revamped.

At least there are some good news: Lend-Lease equipment will not magically transform into country specific stuff when it crosses from one nation to another. This won't matter in vanilla where Panther is a Sherman is a T-34 as always for Paradox but for modders it's great. Other good tidbit is that you can have multiple versions of medium tanks at the same time. Unfortunately not in the same division though. You also cannot put infantry and tanks in the same regiment in the division planner but podcat did not give any more details what those limits are. It is possible to have light and medium tanks in the same regiment. Divisions cannot be split and neither regiments or battalions can be switched from one division to another. So no more heavy tank battalions that get attached to the breakthrough division for the first battle only or reinforcing paratroopers with proper artillery while they are working as normal infantry.

But at least the equipment and manpower of a division does not teleport to your capital when you disband it - instead the game uses that to reinforce other divisions in the same province. Transport ships are apparently out and are now an off-map resource that your units automatically use when you order them to move overseas.

As much as I'd like to end this post on a hopeful note, I can't, because Johan slipped out that the old capital exploit is still in the game - surround Berlin with paratroopers and rest of Germany is cut off from reinforcements, new units and supplies.

Without the limits of Transport mission range, Paratrooopers would make nuclear bombs complete underperformers as per HoI standard.

Anyway, regarding the concern about the divisions and not splitting things around them, could be this is part of the way the Battleplan system works so you have specialist divisions in addition to your standard patterns of choice in the army group formation for said plan, which then perform specialist roles like breakthrough or pure defense. Though this is purely speculation because there's very little information about the indepth workings of the Battleplan system.

I wasn't even aware of vocal casuals calling for this though, is this simply Paradox simplifying the game in the hopes that casuals flock to it?

HoI3 sold better than HoI2 but also faced a lot of criticism that it's too complex and that there's too much micro-management. Before CK2, it was their best selling title. Pdox is obviously hoping that HoI4 would break the bank.

Yeah, it's been obvious for a while that Pdox doesn't want you playing with divisions at all. Too much micro, too much detail, too much hassle, too much management - or so the usual whine goes from casual shitters.

They actually expect people to desire to "execute battleplans" instead of, well, playing the game?

:hmmm:

I actually have a friend who loves paradox games, but HoI3 was too much for him to handle.

For reference, he's the only one in my group of friends from middle school who didn't go to university. Make of that what you will.

Best part will be, assuming you can still save and load plans as in HoI3, you will be able to literally download a plan off the internet and have someone else play your game for you.

Paradox is severely dumbing down their game to get the CoD EU4 audience.

P'dox has been 'streamlining' for awhile now. Trying to reach a wider audience. Even CKII at launch was nerfed when compared to their earlier beta. Seeing as how that one sold like crazy they seem to be succeeding. Shame for us that actually do enjoy the more complicated games they made their name with.

By now I've grown tired of their formula. Still hoping for EU:Rome II to make an appearence and actually be good though.

Ugh, those giant neon lights over cities... Even today the London agglomeration is neither that big nor that ridiculously bright.
Not to mention during war in most cities in most nations in range/danger of bombing attacks lights were kept to the minimum... not to make bombing targets easier than needed afaik. Was certainly case of London. Might be wrong on this.

No, during WW2 Europe at night looked pitch black for most parts.

In fact, up until the German attack started in May 1940, more people in the UK died in accidents thanks to the complete blackout than died in the actual war.

It's been brought up multiple times at Pdox forums but they haven't changed it. Guess it looks shiny on screenshots for retards to impulse buy the game on Steam and that's all that matters.

Sums up my feelings pretty well. I can't tell what's going on there with those colours.

Gotta love that port in the middle of the land mass. And I suspect that airfield might be in the middle of a lake.

The dog makes it look like a spoof.

Has a potential as a reaction image though.
