Can't tell if that's a thumbs up or down on getting VD to shave his beard and do an ice bucket challenge dressed as Miley Cyrus...

Does my avatar look like I'm the kind of person to casually jest about the shaving of beards? With skin smooth as a newborn's butt great dishonor falls upon not only one's self but on one's extended family as well. No matter how desperate or life threatening a situation might appear, the shaving of one's beard is never a viable option.

Regarding the Ice bucket challenge - besides that it's so 2014 anyways - the initiator of the challenge got so drunk on success following millions upon millions of clicks from pre-teens almost religiously jerking off to erect celebrity nipples, he threw himself off a skyscraper high on cocaine proclaiming "I am a golden god!" as he tumbled towards his splattery doom or something like that. You wish a fate as cruel as this upon our beloved VD? Shame on you I say, SHAME!

And as far as dressing up as Miley Cyrus is concerned, last time I checked sadly all the major video hosting portals besides xhamster had a very strict policy regarding nudity.

AoD has a lot more competition now than when it started development a million years ago. Now we have all these niche RPGs from Kickstarter that are kind of filling the emptiness that was in the market for a long time. I think the game will probably be good but I don't know if I will get it, I haven't really finished any of the games that I've been waiting years for even though they are good.

Vault Dweller What I'd consider doing for AoD is putting together a series of lore videos introducing the game's various factions. No spoilers of course, but you could hint at the various directions you might be able to go with them, with appropriate gameplay footage.

But really, I think what the game needs is a hook to get gaming journalists interested in interviewing you about it. The game's unique setting and its literary qualities may be the most likely hook to succeed.

Turn-based has been done. Choice and consequence has been done. Ancient Rome RPG written by a sardonic Ukrainian immigrant? That hasn't been done. Push your setting and push your personality and your literary sensibilities. Oh, and I guess you could make a thing of how long the game has been in development, too.

Many popular youtube people won't even bother touching games akin to AoD because as noted earlier by someone else in this thread they don't make good Television have shiny blinking lights and "achievement unlocked!" messages every 5 seconds.

I can think of one achievement they'll get within 5 seconds.

I proposed something like this to them, like 200 years ago when I did the trailer - "Caius is a praetor - he managed to negociate with the bandits but lost his gold buying junk from Feng, and a unlucky run in town ended his brief life...." Then do various of these, showing how diverse the game's storylines are.

Then again, it's spoiler-ish. And perhaps the biggest problem is to reach out and get people interested enough to watch the video in the first place...

You probably can't make something that regular people will discover "virally", but a well-made and intriguing series of videos might be the thing to get gaming journalists to take notice.

It's the Watch. What do you expect?

Vault Dweller : i dont think videos will cut it. The strength of AoD doesnt lend itself well to animating video. What you need is still images. Through that you can display AoD to its full glory.

You need a series of gorgeous wallpapers to display not just the cities, the peoples, the fights, but also the dialog, the text quests. The latter wont display well on videos or small thumbnails. Too small to read.

Also, like I usually propose around here: You need some tits and asses graphic. A series of images featuring female characters and clothes~

You do know that YouTube videos can be displayed in full screen, right

In any case, it's not about the video per se. The audio is just as important, if not more. That is, the narration.

A video is a total experience. It can draw you into a different world in a way that a static image never can.

I agree that videos won't cut it. And yes, it's about the narration, but not the developer's but LPlayer's (i.e. player's opinion). Anything else wont be effective without great visuals.
