Finally the weekend is here and I can sit down to replay a favourite of mine.

I'm really torn on wether to start on honour or just tactician mode. I found the first edition quite easy after all, is it worth starting on honour? (for those who have gotten far with it)

Also what do people think is a good start for honour? I want to try a rogue backed by a witch de-buffing/buffing but I think the standard melee tank with ranger/elementalist may be better.

I will be customising the characters completely for what I think is best too, not going for default templates at all.

Dunno man, I'm past Cyseal now on Tactician and it seems to me Honour would've been a shitshow. Had to reload many, many a battle. I guess on Honour you'd have to use Flee a lot and buy a lot of Ressurect spells. Royal pain in the ass in other words.

As for classes, maybe it's just me but Rogue seems a bit nerfed and Ranger a bit buffed in EE. I switched my Rogue to Ranger for now and the progress is a lot smoother. Maybe Rogue needs more time to develop, the problem is to get him to stabbing position regulalry since I can't find the Feather Fall spell yet.

I did have a quick shot with Rogue and you're right about getting into backstab range being a royal pain. Maybe it's best I see what tactician offers then go for honour after. I know which companions to add if I stuck with rogue/witch skills however.

Well, I'll try it again with a few tweaks but if it's too annoying I'll revert to tactician or go for ranger/2h-melee beast.

I'm fighting Boreas now. And the hitboxes are driving me insane again. The little elemental shards he summons are constantly cycling through animations. Which makes targeting them a nightmare. And a misclick can easily cost you the whole (very long) fight in this instance. It wouldn't be so bad if you could at least speed up or skip animations.

It's especially annoying since "animations interfering with targeting" has been a solved problem for like... decades. If you held down a key (Alt?) in Wiz8, all animations froze allowing you to target enemies easily.

I'd prefer an option to skip all non-essential animations in battle, though... they drag out fights way too much.

Top of the screen is sometimes buggy, not refreshing the order of initiatives and it just freezes. Just killed Ghoul-at-the-Lighthouse, good fight, died 2-3 times.

I agree with most of your wah wah wah complaints here, even got my own, but i still don't give a fuck. They don't stop me from having a great time :)

If anything, i'm finding me regretting more and more the 'direction' of D:OS II. Fuck more dialogue, fuck more C&C, fuck more PCs, two is enough.. Give me a D:OS I with night n day, schedules, every area like Cyseal and a good editor and i would come in my pants. Why the hell couldn't they KS that?
Oh and you know what? Fuck new composer also. Just use Kiril's Divine Divinity's soundtrack. It [Al Pacino]works[/Al Pacino]

There will only be 1 protagonist as far as I know, the rest are companions. It is a good game, no doubt about it, but the criticisms are valid and considering they are making D:OS2, they should listen to them :p I'm dreading what Luculla and onward will bring, the quality took a dramatic nose-dive past Cyseal in the original.

In their 'EE revamp' they view terrible VA and uneven music track distribution as an issue that needs urgent addressing. I don't even recall these two being a major issue, but at least they've taken note of the blacksmithing/identify.

So now it's a minor improvement minus the inventory shuffling but it's still silly why I gotta manually click on each gear one by one when it really makes no difference in terms of 'resources consumed'. Hell it's a time wasting feature that's tedious and contribute to more than a hundred unnecessary clicks. Right Click item > Left Click Repair/ID = 2 clicks.

Fuck sake, why not just give Identify / Repair All button? All these inventory screen item hunting is killing momentum when playing.

Yes, their priorities are... questionable at best. "No voice acting" isn't really a serious complaint and should be the least of their worries.

I've pointed VA's out but it's mostly about fixing things that aren't broken.

After all cheese vendor was memorable because of his screeches about the advantages of having lots of cheese in social situation and it was replaced by unenthusiastic blurbs, which are the same but... you get the idea.

Common sense game design is hard.

I was paying more attention than usual when at the vendor and noticed to my horror that yes, even the Bartering skill usage is character-dependent. You have to pass all the item to your Barter-specialist if you want to enjoy a discount.
To those who didn't take Bartering and think they're not gonna go through the 'bullshit tax' think again, if you have different reaction to NPC the price is also affected.

Vendors selling epic and rare items. I don't think Larian get what "epic" means :p Though calling items "epic" is cheap in general. Don't tell me they are important, show me.

Oh boy, the bugs. Remember that "teleport into lava" thing I was talking about? Well, I just had a single enemy cast teleport 4 times in a row on every member of my party on the same turn. Through a wall. I think it's safe to say that as long as there are things like this around, honor mode is a bit of a "fuck you". You either need to know every bugged encounter inside out, or cheat. I'm guessing most of the people who finish the game on honor mode quickly are going to be cheating, since Steam doesn't have any way of detecting (or caring about) it, and CheatEngine use is so common these days.

TLDR: If you're thinking of playing honor mode and don't like the idea of losing dozens of hours of progress because of bugs, just play Tactician instead.

Speaking of tele-lava, I'm playing lone wolves and in the area with Twins-Joined-By-Fire one of the burning skellies summoned some weird new guy. Weird new guy cast teleport twice in his turn, teleporting both of my wolves into lava. Instant gg.

Yeah, it's the arcane vortex that loves to do that. I don't mind a one-off teleport like we get, but the fact he can cast teleport 4 times on the same turn is absurd. Enemy abilities should really have cooldowns like ours do, especially if they're going to be one shots.

There's a legit god mode built into the game, figure out what it is and use it. Then nobody will be able to teleport you into lava.

What do you mean specifically? I know of several answers to that trick, but they are all basically unavailable at the point you'll run into that area.
