When I click on New Game, there are no PCs displayed in the Character Pool GUI (even though I have created lots of PCs previously and their .ToEEPC files are in the \modules\ToEE\players folder). Whenever I click on Finish during character creation, the game always crashes with a window called "Fatal Error" stating "Uncaught exception: Should not be called".

The only changes that I made to TemplePlus.ini are:
maxPCs=8
renderHeight=1080
renderWidth=1920
windowHeight=1080
windowWidth=1920
windowed=false
autosave_between_maps=0
concurrent_turnbased=0
end_turn_default=0
end_turn_time=0

I am using Windows 8.1 and TemplePlus-0.1.0-pre+584.zip

I did not install TemplePlusSymbols-0.1.0-pre+584.zip or TemplePlusTools-0.1.0-pre+584.zip. Do I need to install those as well in order to get Temple+ to work?

I did not install the updated Co8 data files because the first post of the TemplePlus Alpha testing thread states that the latest build has integrated co8 compatibility files into co8fixes.dat and that a separated download is no longer needed. Do I need to install the old separate updated Co8 data archive as well? If so, where can I download it?

Are you able to play with the pregen characters? I see from the log that they were loaded.

You don't need the old co8 update files, they're now included in a packed file named co8fixes.dat inside the tpdata folder. Nor do you need to unpack the symbols or particle editor zip.

No, there are no PCs at all in the Character Pool GUI, either pregenerated PCs or my created PCs. There's not much else that I can do (testing-wise) until this problem is solved.
Ok, can confirm both issues (although the partypool being empty only started manifesting after it crashed when creating a character - was that the same for you?).

Anyway, good find. Can't believe I didn't test char gen :P

In the meantime, you should be able to load up old saves if you have any.

Edit: Assuming what I described above is correct, you should be able to restore your pre-existing PCs by going to

modules\ToEE\players

You should see there the new PC(s) you tried to create, e.g. if you tried to create a PC named John you'll see a file named John.ToEEPC. It should be an empty file - you need to delete it, because that's what's causing the others to disappear.

Alright, should be fixed now, along with a couple of other visual bugs.

I experienced a crash to desktop as soon as my adventuring party started travelling on the world map from Deklo Grove towards Hommlet. I suspect that the crash was caused by either the Enlarge spell expiring on one of my adventurers or by having a random encounter (but these are both merely speculations).

The crash window called "TemplePlus Crashed - Oops!" stated "A crash report was written to 37117b30-d1f9-477e-a09f-ccabc7df90ed.dmp". I've uploaded a saved game named "15" (that is just before the crash - I tested the saved game and it reliably crashes if you attempt to travel to Hommlet on the world map) and "TemplePlus.log" and a screenshot called "crash during wilderness travel" and the dump file named "37117b30-d1f9-477e-a09f-ccabc7df90ed.dmp" to the "gazra's files" folder of Sitra's Google Drive.

The relevant part of TemplePlus.log is in the spoiler below:

I experienced a crash to desktop as soon as I attempted to load my last saved game (named "36"). The crash window called "TemplePlus Crashed - Oops!" stated "A crash report was written to 284ee9fc-b933-4706-b127-7309e174ea45.dmp". I forgot to save a copy of the TemplePlus.log before overwriting it when I started the game again. Whenever I attempt to load either of my last 2 saved games (named "35 and "36" respectively), the game always crashes to desktop. Both of these saved games occurred when my adventuring party was inside the moathouse ruins, which makes me suspect that something (or something that happened while my adventuring party was) inside the moathouse ruins is causing the crash. I saved game "35" after killing the bandits inside the moathouse ruins, and I saved game "36" after killing the Large Lizard inside the moathouse ruins. My last saved game that loads okay is named "34" (which was saved while my adventuring party was outside the moathouse ruins and had never entered the moathouse ruins yet). One thing that I remember doing for the first time in my game inside the moathouse ruins was cast "Tasha's Hideous Laughter".

I've uploaded 3 saved games (named "34", "35", and "36") and "TemplePlus.log" and a screenshot called "crash" and 4 dump files (2 dump files are from when I attempted to load saved game "35", and 2 dump files are from when I attempted to load saved game "36") to the "gazra's files" folder of Sitra's Google Drive.

I am using Windows 8.1, the Co8 modpack 8.1 NC, and TemplePlus-0.1.0-pre+631.zip

Whenever I attempt to load either of my last 2 saved games (named "35 and "36" respectively), the game always crashes to desktop. Both of these saved games occurred when my adventuring party was inside the moathouse ruins, which makes me suspect that something (or something that happened while my adventuring party was) inside the moathouse ruins is causing the crash. I saved game "35" after killing the bandits inside the moathouse ruins, and I saved game "36" after killing the Large Lizard inside the moathouse ruins. My last saved game that loads okay is named "34" (which was saved while my adventuring party was outside the moathouse ruins and had never entered the moathouse ruins yet). One thing that I remember doing for the first time in my game inside the moathouse ruins was cast "Tasha's Hideous Laughter".

I've uploaded 3 saved games (named "34", "35", and "36") and "TemplePlus.log" and a screenshot called "crash" and 4 dump files (2 dump files are from when I attempted to load saved game "35", and 2 dump files are from when I attempted to load saved game "36") to the "gazra's files" folder of Sitra's Google Drive.

I am using Windows 8.1, the Co8 modpack 8.1 NC, and TemplePlus-0.1.0-pre+631.zip

I'll take a look this evening, but it was probably caused by using some of the recent intermittent builds. I've replaced quite a bit of the spell load/save functions this past week in order to diagnose the dreaded spell particle permanency issue. The latest build should be ok but getting there was a bumpy road, which may have created corrupt saves. Were the saves created with that build or previous ones?

I've encountered a problem that I've never experienced before when playing the vanilla game or the old Co8 Modpack. There are some corpses at Welkwood Bog and outside the moathouse ruins that I simply cannot loot, no matter how much I try! I've uploaded 2 saved games (named "20" and "32") to the "gazra's files" folder of Sitra's Google Drive in which my adventuring party are next to corpses that I couldn't loot. It's weird that it is only a few specific corpses that I cannot loot - all of the other corpses I can loot just fine. The corpses that I can't loot are a few kobolds at Welkwood Bog, and a few brigands in the courtyard outside the moathouse ruins.

The gnome and halfling in my adventuring party both receive a warning text message stating that they are too small to be able to use a heavy crossbow, yet I am able to equip them both with a heavy crossbow and they are both able to use a heavy crossbow in combat. My understanding of D&D 3.5 is that creatures that are smaller than medium (e.g. human) sized can't equip and use weapons that are 2 handed for medium-sized creatures (such as crossbows).

Sitra, should I start a new game all over again with the latest build of Temple+ for testing purposes?

You're right, encountered the same problem when playing from 34, and I think I have it fixed now in build 633. 35 and 36 will still be corrupt, but 34 should be fine. I've tested the brigand & lizard fights and threw around lots of spells and it saved/loaded fine.

As for 20&32, does that still happen when you load the save? I've loaded them up and been able to loot just fine.

Sitra, should I start a new game all over again with the latest build of Temple+ for testing purposes?

I think 34 should be safe enough.

Another thing, is it possible to add more options to enhancing items? Even with CO8 there's not that much that can be crafted/enchanted.

What would you like to see?

Bear in mind though it'll probably wait for after the current release, since we're in bugfixing-only mode right now.

I knew that I should have tested those saved games before uploading them. I tested the saved games and I am now able to loot all of those corpses, which means that saving the game and then loading the game fixes this bug. Hehe Murphy's law. But yeah I'll keep an eye for it, and probably add some debug info in the log for when that happens.

Yeah, like I said I replaced the functions which load and save the active spell list in the save files, and made a stupid error in the save function (now fixed). Currently I've just recreated what's there (with additional debug info) but I'm probably going to supplement the information that gets saved when serializing spells to file to prevent Spell Permanency issues. As it is, ToEE can accumulate lots of junk spell info on spells that are no longer really active because sometimes it doesn't end them properly (for various reasons).

Corpse looting problem

Question - do you remember if you saw the tooltip when you hovered over the corpses you couldn't loot? (the one that says how healthy they are etc.)
Did they have the thin blue outline? When you clicked on them, did the rotating grey disc appear? Did the character you were trying to loot with try to move to the corpse in order to loot or did they just stay put?

I'll be adding some debug messages to help trace the cause, but I'd like to narrow it down a bit.

Also, did the latest build solve the crash issues for you?

When I hovered the mouse pointer over the corpses that I couldn't loot, their outline was highlighted by a blue outline (as normal). When I commanded any of my PCs to loot one of those unlootable corpses (by left-cling on the corpse while the PC was selected), the PC would run over and stand exactly where the corpse is.
I recall that the original computer game ToEE suffered from a famous bug in which corpses couldn't be looted, but that bug was fixed with one of the official Atari patches for the game.
Hopefully fixed in the latest round of fixes

Lamentably, all of my saved games after "34" are still becoming corrupt when using the latest build of Temple+ and after loading saved game "34". I'll have to start a new game. I think that I am not going to change the build of Temple+ during my next test run of Temple+.

I just want to confirm that all 5 of the Giant Frogs outside the moathouse ruins attacked my adventuring party in unison, which was the first time that I have ever seen those frogs do that.
However, during the combat, one of the Giant Frogs made a charge attack at one of my PCs, but when the Giant Frog was adjacent to 2 of my PCs, the Giant Frog suddenly teleported a small distance away to the other side of one of my PCs (it must have been an automatic displacement in order to not be standing over another Giant Frog's corpse, or to avoid clipping with another of my PCs), then a hover-text with something along the lines of "Too far way" displayed above the Giant Frog, which cancelled the Giant Frog's charge attack, but then the Giant Frog teleported back to its original position where it teleported from the first time, and ended its turn adjacent to its target without being able to make an attack for that turn of the combat. This was probably just a one off glitch.

I've started a new game of Temple+ but I am using the same 8 PCs that I created for my last playthrough of Temple+.

My game crashed to desktop the instant that I clicked on "Engage" in the random encounter (Survival) GUI of a random encounter wit Zaxis the recruitable bard NPC. The weird thing is that I encountered Zaxis in my previous playthrough of Temple+ but the game did not crash then (and I "engaged" him then as well).

The crash window called "TemplePlus Crashed - Oops!" stated "A crash report was written to a7a2b1aa-120d-46fe-9b6b-7bd2132bd1b0.dmp". The only spells that I believe that I cast during the Mathel combat were Magic Missile and Sound Burst. My cleric performed Turn Undead.

I noticed some odd pathfinding during combat on a few occasions. A kobold moved along a path that was 2 lengths of a triangle in order to reach his target at Welkwood Bog. At Deklo Grove, while holding down the Alt key to see the projected path that one of my PCs would take if I left-clicked on the map where my mouse pointer was currntly positioned, the projected path was 2 lengths of a triangle. I've uploaded a screenshot called "movement pathfinding during combat" to the "gazra's files" folder of Sitra's Google Drive.
Confirmed

I am halting my beta-testing of Temple+ and awaiting advice on what to do next. I am not keen on starting a new game all over again, but I may be persuaded to do otherwise - we'll see.

Alright, the bug with the magic missile should be fixed now. The Zaxis bug is more elusive, I'll look deeper into it this weekend.

In my playthrough of Temple+ in which my game didn't crash when I engaged the Zaxis random encounter, I had used the "levelup" cheat command (while my adventuring party was in the shopmap) to level all of my PCs up to experience level 3, and I encountered Zaxis when travelling from Hommlet to either Welkwood Bog or the Mouthouse ruins.

The only difference in my playthrough in which my game crashed when I engaged the Zaxis random encounter is that I had used the "levelup" cheat command (while my adventuring party was in the shopmap) to level all of my PCs up to experience level 5 instead.

I never did any levelling up of any of my PCs while my adventuring party was in the actual game world (i.e. not in the shopmap) in either of those 2 playthroughs.

Hey, Heinous Hat. It's good to see you around again. Temple+ definitely needs your help finding new bugs in the rapidly developing builds of Temple+.

To answer your question, the latest builds of Temple+ no longer need a separate compressed file containing all of the latest changes to the Co8 Modpack files - the latest install file of Temple+ creates a new folder called "tpdata" which contains all of the latest changes to the Co8 Modpack files, so you only need the Temple+ install file to be able to play the Co8 Modpack (after installing and activating the Co8 Modpack) using Temple+.

The very latest build of Temple+ can be downloaded at the following link (don't install the Symbols or Tools files):

After installing TemplePlus-0.1.0-pre+656.zip, when I run TemplePlus.exe, a window called "TemplePlus.exe - System Error" states "The program can't start because MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I am using Windows 8.1.

I have had a similar problem before when I was trying to get another game to run on my computer.

Could somebody please direct me to the Microsoft webpage that will allow me to download the correct version of Microsoft Visual C+ so that I can get Temple+ working on my computer?

That file should be provided by your own system, it might be an issue of system updates. Pug is working on an installer that should take care of that in the future though.

That should be in the Visual Studio 2015 redistibutable here .

So with the co8 data files getting pushed into /tpdata, does the state of the game /data folder matter? I can't remember how I left it... I should probably just start over with a new installation.
