Is it possible to make PoE good? Mods?

Yeah, straight to the question:

Are there any mods or something that can make Pillars of Eternity good, or at least a little bit more interesting to play?

Combat? More interesting balance? Removing of all these stupid backer NPC that you reach out? Anything, anything?

Edit: Shit, forgot to write the game name in the title.

You want a mod that lets you walk past the NPC backers without you clicking on them....?

I think you can kill most backer NPCs without making everyone else hostile.

iirc you can only kill the backer NPCs that are by themselves, otherwise you get the usual "killed a civilian" consequences. There are a few of these in Gilded Vale, but the ones in Defiance Bay / Dyrford / etc are almost all mixed in with other NPCs.

There's a particular soulbound weapon you can level faster (for one level, anyway) by killing backers with it, which is somewhat amusing. Too bad that by the time you get it, there aren't many (any?) backer NPCs in the world left that you can kill without repercussions.

Did they really need to make so many backer NPCs godlikes? The game's lore explicitly states how extraordinary such individuals are, and yet you keep running into dozens of them in every settlement.
