Never liked time rewind features. I get that some people thought it was a good idea once but meh i hate them, even
in driving games.. instead of time rewind make the game work faster dont make me sit through various loadscreens
and replays.

UPDATE 26/02/2016 5.37pm Shadwen's upcoming launch price has dropped from $35 to $24 after only two days of this latest promotion.

The developer noted that there's been over 10k downloads and 1.5m points acquired by users. The promotion runs for another three days so at this rate Shadwen might launch for a very cheap price indeed.

In other Frozenbyte news, CEO and design director Lauri Hyvärinen took to Reddit for an AMA wherein they addressed the backlash to Trine 3. When asked about whether the studio would ever add more content to the infamously brief Trine 3, Hyvärinen said, "We will continue to update the game, and hopefully some day we are able to publish also more content to it. We added one small level in November and the user-created content has been flowing in constantly."

The developer explained that they're proud of Trine 3, but understands the criticism it received over its length and hopes that Frozenbyte's first foray into full 3D won't be for nothing as a lot of the lessons learned can be applied to Shadwen.

"We built our success solely on Trine franchise, and with Trine 3 we destroyed all the hard work overnight, leaving us with very few pieces to start over with," Hyvärinen said. "With Trine 3 majority of technical work went to the 3D movement, and we greatly underestimated the work needed. However, now we have that work done it would be foolish not to use that as a foundation, and that's how Shadwen was initially designed."

"Personally I don't completely agree with the harsh criticism Trine 3 received," the developer stated. "Had it been a new IP or from someone else it would have been viewed very differently. We are still proud of what we achieved it, even it fell short. With Shadwen I'm hoping we can start with a clean slate, but time will tell if we are ever forgiven."

Just finished the demo, few impressions:

-performance is absolutely horrible. I had to pick the lowest graphics setting to maintain a consistently high frame rate, while my computer can run Phantom Pain at high FPS and high settings. This is excusable, though, since the game's not done yet

-at first I gasped in horror to learn that the goal is to escort some girl but it turned out that you just need to clear a way for her, not babysit her. Still, would have been better without.

-time stop and rewind felt completely unneccessary and annoying. If the full game has some puzzles that require creative use of time manipulation it could be fine. We'll see.

-maybe I just didn't realize how to do it but it seems like there's no way to interact with small objects in an easy way. Like throwing rocks or bottles to distract guards. Only thing I could do was to push boxes or drag them with the grappling rope which was the most awkward thing I've ever tried in any game.

-that said, the rope itself looks like it could potentially be used in a lot of cool ways

If the price drops low enough and the performance is fixed, this might be worth a buy.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Reminds me how much I loathe the modern interpretation of "ghosting" where it counts as ghosting if you kill or knockout everyone as long as you're not seen.

This is not ghosting you faggots.

There is also some gameplay video:

In this chapter our protagonist meets her adorable puppy and interacts with only other inhabitants of the world (360 noscope wallhack headshooters).

Looks like not much has changed form what we could see in the demo.

My impressions:

The good:
- atmosphere and visuals,
- detection almost always meant quick death

The bad or meh:
- everything else.

The rewind thing is so damn annoying. Ruins the stealth aspect. The demo was... so strange and off putting. Why not just make a good stealth game without this gimmick.

In my sleep deprived state, I read the title of this thread as "Snowden".

I was expecting some sort of high tech espionage stealth title.

In the demo you sort of could do that, but you needed to lure away the guards away, and while the level gave the player some freedom (to give pretext to use the second gimmick - this grappling hook, or whatever it is), the kid had to be led basically through a corridor. So even if you sneaked (which wasn't hard, but I played on the default settings, I think you could increase the guards senses) around, you had to go back and deal with the guards to led the kid through. It was doable without killing, but there were some guards on posts in narrow passages. I think I resorted to killing at least some of them, though, as after the first area I lost patience (in the gameplay video you can see the little girl going very close to the guards, perhaps it was changed from the demo, because going that close to the guards would trigger the kid to turn around).

From what I saw it's definitely not "ghosting" material, there is a need to interact with and change the environment.

This is goddamn awful and much, much worse than Styx. Pity, I actually liked Frozenbyte - seems they're in a rough spot now and have to churn out shovelware like this.

A change in perspective would have no impact, Shadwen is fundamentally shit with baby's first videogame mechanics plastered all over it - time rewind being the most egregious example.

It looks ok and runs well, but that's about it. It's a fucking horrible game through and through.
