this is why i hate d&d treatening mechanics... because technically an archer would be treatening the whole board. so that archer should also get that flanking bonus since its treatening with his shot. but nope treatening only happens to melee. which is very very odd. pretty sure in the original ruleset of 3.5 you can't flank if you are more then 5 feet away.


as for the installer....
well i never thought it was installing considering that when i start it it shows me the UI to choose my configuration. so i'd tell you to do your installing stuff and actually tell the person its installation and shouldn'T use this installer. again. because i think all the people that says it can't update are probably the same error i did. and by the way, im an average programmer and an Expert IT. so if i got into this error myself, then imagine how much of those amature you'll have using the instalation file as a launcher. so yeah, i think you need to redo your installer then, just to make sure people know whats hapenning.

Threatened areas are within your melee weapon's reach range, missile weapons do not have a melee reach range, moreover firing a missile weapon in a hostile reach area provokes an AoO against the missile firer.

Additionally, Point Blank Shot doesn't negate the AoO, but instead grants a +1 to attack rolls within 30' of the target.

Yes. I go in and out of the game, and nothing changes. Each time I see v1.0.10 download and install with a message to start a new game. I ended up just downloading v1.0.10 from moddb, so I now have the latest version.

I discovered what I was doing wrong after conversing via e-mail with you or one of your fellow modders. I had created a shortcut using the TempleplusSetup.exe rather than starting the game through my Startup folder. Now that I'm going through the Startup folder, my game is automatically updating like it should.

This seems similar to vanilla bugs reported long ago in the Co8 forums. One of my PCs has managed to acquire (two) Poisoned: Dragon Bile status effects. Kindly donated by the groaning spirit on Temple level 3.

The PC failed the initial save for the first one and saved against the second one. I haven't seen the second save attempt happen and the status is still there after resting for several days although the temp. strength damage is long gone.

I notice the Dragon Bile is one of the few poison types with "0" secondary damage - potential bug scheduling the followup effect / end if there's no later save? I have a save with the permanent status but not one just before it was acquired (see, there's still a downside from spamming auto-save :-P )

Yeah, looks like Co8 replaced the poison effect with Monster Banshee Charisma Drain. I think it should be that way anyhow?

Edit: ok the poison countdown is indeed bugged for when there is no secondary effect (it returns before doing the saving throw and removing the condition). Fixed for 1.0.12.

I tried to play and experienced 2 problems I noticed after I few seconds:

Problem 1:
My game isn't in English, and all not English characters are replaced by a line break, if those characters were just not showing instead of that it would be annoying but playable, unfortunetly line breaks make all the text to melt up, all the text menu are mixed up so most of it become completly unreadable.
If this program was supposed to work with an English version only, it would be cool to indicate it in the thread somewhere, I'm sorry I think some people might say this not a bug or something, anyway I despair to see fanmade content indication to state about their language compatibilities, I mean this is never ever said in any fanmade content in any games while is one of my main concern when I download a mod.

Problem 2:
I don't think it's a problem that comes from the mod directly, but maybe you will find this useful.
When you make the game to go in windowed mode with your mod, then try to use programs made to turn windowed mode application in bordeless windowed mode, it works but all clickable texts are shifted down, I mean you have to click up a text not on it.


Anyway, this mod looks gorgeous, I will maybe think about trying to translate my game in English to be able to play with it.

To be honest, we just didn't have access to a non-english version to test this. I'd have to find one to check up on it.
Which language is your version in?

My language is French, here is all the none English characters existing in this language: É È Ê À Ô Œ Ç é è ê ë à ù ô œ ç
Not all are present in the game.

And I somehow managed by playing with game files in different languages to get an English-French version of the game, where the game is fully English with most of the dialogue in French (still with no accentuated characters but they just don't appear without being replaced by break lines which allow me to deal with it).
In fact, to be more precise, I use the GOG version (because my intall CD is broken) with a translation (here you can find it: http://traductionjeux.com/The-Temple-Of-Elemental-Evil-patch-fr.html ), but to have the game in state I have it right now, I just replaced the French ToEE4.dat with the English one.

Thanks for your interest regarding this, I know it's not easy to make things working for every system, language, etc.

We did replace the font renderer, so we might actually have fucked up the foreign language support. But I am definetly interested in fixing it.

There are two areas where we might have fucked up: Reading in the text files (ToEE never specifies which encoding it uses) or reading in the font files...

I'll check out both.

*edit*. Yeah I just found this in our code

Oops :)

Can you check your logfile for a lot of spam along the lines of "Tried to display character ..." please?
If so, it might be an easy fix.

same for me with trolls...
they didn't take lethal damage from fireball, nor did they from scorching ray. haven't tryed acid on them.
but to me it doesn't matter, as you can simply render them unconscious and then make a coup de grace on them and it does kill therm.

Fixed for v1.0.20

That shouldn't affect the font rendering in any way, so don't worry.

I'll just try to reproduce it locally with the french patch.

Ok, as I see your interest about that issue, I though maybe some screenshots would be useful, so here they are:


There was also the bug happening in the quest menu with all the quest names mixing up the first time I tried the mod, but I don't know why the bug isn't showing in that menu, that's the weirdest thing about this I think, regard some condition I still don't understand right now, the bug isn't showing anymore in some menu or others, I mean the bug where accentuated characters are replaced by break lines sometimes disappear in the radyal menu (the circular menu with all the action), but as I said, I have no idea what make it disappear and reappear.

Fixed for v1.0.20

Yeah, I see from the log it crashes after the bolt hits... not sure why though, the save you posted runs fine on my computer.

Edit: ah wait, got the same crash in a different bolt-firing situation... looking into it.

edit: 1.0.13 is out with a fix for the issue.

Found a little thing, even if you use 1 handed weapon with a buckler, it gives +1 ac but -1 to attack, is this normal?

Are you using the weapon two-handed? IIRC it was made to assume that you do. (should be reflected in the damage output)

Yeah, it does, I get +7 damage from strength tho my str is +5. Didn't know you can use a great cleaver 2h.

Yeah, this is due to the map display limits originally being set when much lower resolutions were available... we'll ensure that the limits are expanded to your resolution when loading maps for next version. Otherwise this should also be solved with Co8.

Good Evening, Not sure where to post this, but my computer will no longer run the game after upgrading to Windows 10m not temple+, co8 or vanilla. It crashes at start up, immediately, and without any real error codes. Any ideas why my W10 is not working while it works for others?

Can you post the logfile from when you run it with Temple+? See instructions in first post.
