The final content update expands the endgame, which makes it difficult to describe the update without spoiling it for those who either haven't played the game yet or just started playing it. Thus I have no choice but to be cryptic about it:

  • If you decide to return to the temple and bring one of the lords with you, you'll get a proper road trip with various challenges. Different lords will have different escorts and ways of dealing with said challenges.
  • You'll see the changes taking place in and around the temple, which will explain a lot, and witness a certain conversation.
  • If you saved a certain guildmaster, he'll make an appearance and you might regret saving his ungrateful ass.
  • A certain unscrupulous gentleman might be convinced to tag along and get his own, much anticipated ending
  • If you did nothing of importance in the third chapter and a certain ritual took place without you, it will unlock an exciting new career in manual labor and pyramid building.
  • If that ritual did take place without your knowledge, it will change your options at the temple.

While it's the last content update, it's not the last update. We're still planning to transfer some changes from Dungeon Rats, a tactical squad-based RPG set in the AoD world, but it will take some time as such changes can easily change balance.

Ah, I thought the DR combat changes and the last content update would be in the same patch. I'll wait and try not to read any spoilers. My next few playthrough's will all be combat-oriented.

I'm just curious, but will this final update includes DR's retrofitted combat mechanics?

Unless I read it wrong, I remembered somewhere VD said he planned to do that.

The update is out, the DR changes will be added at a later date.

Got around to trying the new content.
Is there no option for taking the Zamedi shortcut when you went to the temple that way originally? Oversight or intended? I know it's a "one-way trip" and all, but I'm assuming that doesn't mean it stops working forever after one use.
Also, is Hellgate always closed? Seemed that way to me, but not sure I tried all possibilities.

Good stuff regardless, but got distracting a lot since it seemed like half the dialogue had some error or another, and since I couldn't stop noticing it I figured I might as well compile what I found so it could be fixed:
  • While escorting Paullus, Maadoran encounter has a reference to Gaelius even if he's dead. In the conversation option after passing the first check for a peaceful solution.
  • Dead River zealots destroy the fence by "...hacking at it with silent, terrible furry". Apparently Jasede is a great cutting tool.
  • When failing the skillcheck with the same zealots, dialogue always references Meru even if you're not with him and also if he's dead, whether he died on the way or before you went to the temple.
  • Final conversation with Agathoth: "All who dare rise against you will fall swiftly fall for such is my will". Couldn't decide between "fall swiftly" and "swiftly fall", eh?
  • In the same conversation, missing some words: "In exchange you will serve me faithfully in all things, just [as] your men serve you. You will rule as you see [fit] in matters..." Well, at least the first one.
  • Same conversation, but only with Meru. "Meru doesn't need any convincing. He speant...", should be "spent".
  • In Hellgate "A half of dozen bodies", should probably be "A half dozen" or "Half a dozen".

Excited, but I want to save checking it out until the last mechanical update comes in and start some fresh plays. My assassin really wants another go at some of those battles with dungeon rats improvements.

Vault Dweller I can't imagine the flanking system working in AoD since it would only be the PC getting flanked at all times - is this also going in?

Is this update on GoG already? The idiots don't put any date to their updates so I can't tell.
