Just pointing it out that it's all alpha stage and is liable to change in the upcoming months. This includes the voices.

No doubt. Just thought you might appreciate the feedback anyway. You're on the right track with the voice, but not quite there yet IMO.

Of course. Thanks.

The failure bit could have used some explaining, but the time contraint had us cut it - you get the paint BECAUSE you fail to impress Cindy with your conceptual wit. If you had succeeded, she would have called you a pretentious asshole cop and you would have had to look for another way to get your hands on that paint.

Red is Endurance, blue is Volition
How do they come into play in actual gameplay? Are they like traditional "health" and "mana"?
They basically represent the body and the mind. I understand volition to be something akin to a mix of what was used in Arcanum and something from a Lovecraftian setting. Think less "mana" and more "willpower", or - as the name suggests - volition :) I'm sure we'll write about it in our dev blog at one point.

Does the drunk cop portrait change if you choose different choices? Like not ever drink? :)

To clarify, that's a late stage alcoholic cop portrait. If the budget allows :D there are soo many portraits to do and a bunch of them go through transformations as you progress.

Late stage of what? The cop, or the portrait?

After a long enough period of heavy chronic alcohol use, withdrawal symptoms may be so painful that the person is motivated to continually drink just to prevent them. At this point, an individual may develop a serious disease, such as cirrhosis of the liver. ... The end stage alcohol abuse is in a true quagmire.

So our table is up at SXSW in Austin. Our inventory icons are broken as shit, but people seem happy none-the-less

We´re still talking to companies that provide localization services right now and we´ll have more news when we have run the numbers.

Hm, can you explain, why you can' t do this yourself? I think at least couple of you can speak Russian. Maybe stupid question but stiil, I just don't get it.
Also, translation will be too costly I think.

Yeah - I speak a little Russian, but who´s going to do art for the game while I´m juggling dictionaries and going through thousands upon thousands of lines of text? No-no, this is something we trust to professionals.

A localization service has teams of specialists who know what they are doing and will have it finished in a fraction of a time that would take us on our own. Localization is also more than simply translation - especially for games. Sometimes you have to make adjustments to things because of the menu layout or other things etc etc. Endless variables between different languages.

No Truce deserves a better translation than just about any localisation service can offer. You have lots of hard to translate stuff there: wordplay, made-up or modified words, and so on. Just think of the Contact Mike dialogue for example: a localisation service charging by the word will make a complete hash of it.

I.e. you need a top-drawer literary translator. Somebody who translates novels for a living, and translates them well.

I have a hunch that your network of artists, lunatics, misfits, rebels, and Commies is your best bet to find one.

Maybe it would be sad thing to hear, but in Russian left almost ZERO real profeccionals in literature translation.
When our economics stood up after 98 in 2000th all real translater goes from book business into more money bringing spheres.
Those who left are amateurs.

Books translation is horrible, games - the same.
