<a href=http://www.gamestar.de>GameStar</a> ran into <b>Bill Roper</b> at E3 who <a href=http://www.gamestar.de/news/branchen/17687>confirmed</a> that the new title is indeed a <i>game of roles</i> at least according to BabelFish. <a href=http://www.flagshipstudios.com>Flagship Studios</a> also posted 3 new concept arts showing a <a href=http://www.flagshipstudios.com/concept05.htm>post apocalyptic looking environment</a>, <a href=http://www.flagshipstudios.com/concept04.htm>a lightly armored guy with a sword and a gun</a>, and <a href=http://www.flagshipstudios.com/concept06.htm>something weird looking</a>. Opinions?

I noticed that yesterday... but I'm pretty undecided wheter it will be much of an rpg. But that weird bug creature looks very interesting. Alien infestation in the future? Sounds interesting, although ranged combat is somewhat hard to implement in RT - at least if you want to keep it interesting.

OMG! It's Fallout 3! It's not going to be an RPG as we understand the term, but it will be an action RPG like Diablo, and come to think of it it's the only possible solution. They can't do a straight Diablo clone and win, but a sci-fi game with fantasy elements in a Hellboyish sorta setting would work very well. As for the ranged combat thing in RT, it worked well for the amazon, so I don't see a problem there.

LOL - it won't be FO3 - more like FOBOS 2 then, won't it?

*shudder*

Well, not as Babelfish understands the term; it's going to be a game of roles, remember?

Anyway, I won't be surprised if it is a dungeon crawler. I like the post-apocalyptic style in the concept art, though--hopefully this'll help decrease the automatic "RPG = Fantasy" assumptions people have.

Well, I'm just hoping that this game will be called Flagship, and be known as the flagship game of Flagship Studios. A long shot I know, but a man can always dream...

A lot of people are also thinking Fantasy = RPG, which is not the case at all.

While we're on the subject of sci-fi/fantasy hybrids, why the hell was Shadowrun dropped? I've been waiting forever for something a little more advanced than the early nintendo system versions of the game.

Well. You're not alone, that's for sure.

It probably had a lot to do with the death of FASA. Too many people with a handle on the rights.
Now though, Wizkids seems to have it. Maybe they'll do something with it, maybe not. They don't seem to be doing much besides that goofy action figure game.

I thought that as far as video games are concerned, MicroSoft had picked up FASA's stuff. At least, they certainly have Battletech and Crimson Skies.
