I hope the expansion is selling good. Just tried BB for the first time after the recommendations here. Enjoying it a lot. The only thing I despise is that if you enter a battle with 12 members or more it becomes a slog of end turns, wish there was a fast forward for animation in huge battles.

Codex Year of the Donut
Well, judging by the STEAM charts posted, it looks like most guys who played the game also bought the DLC and came back to play it again.

That of course means we'll get an endless amount of better and better DLCs, wich is nice.

Sweet old ladies seem to be accompanied by some relatively heavily armoured gentlemen.
Bless their hearts.
At least she gave lock of her hair as remembrance of that encounter.

Is it just me or do game offer banner ambition sooner than before?
Also expansion so far has given me option to choose between 2 ambitions at a time instead of 3.

rapsdjff I would like to suggest something I'd love to see in the game: maybe an option on the start to select if there will be monsters or not.

Most of the times I have more fun playing against humans than monsters.

Getting renown is a trap right? Seems the world instan-leveled up for me when I got a couple milestones done. Now I have 15+ spider groups roaming around, which is impossible to do.
Enemy strength doesn't scale at all with renown. But the rewards you're getting for contracts do, and you'll unlock additional types of contracts with higher renown.

Damn - thought I was fucked by spear wall came in clutch. Only had one guy with any real injuries, got a decayed full helm (like 240 armor helm?) plus 4 kettle hats and some second-tier weapons.

Are there any bros spec guide? I always end up fucking it up...
Well, I disagree with the build guide on the Wiki, but you can get some inspirations.

I only have (had) two + one builds for late game Bros:

The 2H Frontbro
HP: 90 (72+Colossus)
Fatigue: 130
Resolve: 55
M Att: 85
M Def: 30

Perks: Colossus, Brawny, Rotation, a weapon specialization (Hammer or Sword), Reach Advantage, Underdog, Berserk, Battle Forged, Killing Frenzy. That leaves one perk you can use freely, take gifted to get to the stats, many like 'Recover' or 'Indominable'.

The Archer
HP: 75 (56+Colossus)
Fatigue: 120
Resolve: 40
R Att: 95
R Def: 30

Perks: Fast Adaptation, Colossus, Bullseye, Steel Brow, Anticipation, Bow Mastery, Footwork, Berserk, Killing Frenzy. Again, You have an extra perk. Many like Head Hunter or Recover or Battle Forged if they use heavy armour (Nimble might be better now with the DLC Changes, need to try it out)

The ArchSarge
HP: 75 (56+Colossus)
Fatigue: 110
Resolve: as high as possible
R Att: 85
R Def: 15

Perks: Colossus, Bullseye, Fortified Mind, Steelbrow, Anticipation, Rally the Troops, Bow Mastery, Footwork, Berserk, Killing Freenzy. No perk left, it's basically a weaker archer who picks 'Resolve' every level so other stats suffer a bit. In fights against Geists, the ArchSarge should focus on spamming 'Rally' instead of dealing damge.

I think those builds will still be viable, even after the DLC changes, but I'll experiment with light armour.

Which part you disagreed with?

Quite a few things.

I'm against 'Hybrid' builds. Specialization is clearly superior, ever since you could perform ranged attacks standing behind a Bro. Before - way in EA - it made sense to give your archers polearms, now it's a waste of fatigue and M Att points that are needed elsewhere.

'Pathfinder' and 'Fearsome' are often hailed as 'essential perks' for several builds, when in reality 'Pathfinder' is extremely situational and 'Fearsome' is almost useless, because you'll do more than 15 damage most of the time anyway. (Fearsome could really use a buff, maybe add a flat bonus against enemies moral checks, regardless of damage done.)

For the archer, it's supposedly 'essential' to have 'Quick Hands'. That's absurd. You'll change your quiver maybe once in a fight, it's silly to waste a perk to save 4AP. Even more so, since you'll likely have to pause anyway because of fatigue shortage. 'Steel Brow', on the other hand is allegedly only a 'situational' perk... . Etc.

I've never given archer/crossbow bro Quick hands.
They'll do fine without.
It's for thrown weapon users.

Speaking of which, anyone using those heavy thrown spears?
How are you finding those so far?
I think I will try to fit couple of pilums on my battleline.

edit.
Actually biggest change that I'm seeing perk-wise (besides loss of reliability on my dudes that hold mid and end of the battleline 'cause "hold out" was removed) is that now I think that "bag and belts" is mandatory for archers.
I like use them as field medics and now bandages go straight to inventory, instead of the passive/active item slot.

Day 20 and I still haven't found a good sergeant candidate.
Lok for monk. Monks have great utility as supp characters and can be decent polearm sergeant.
Yeah was thinking one of those or a gambler, but the gambler I hired had iron lungs and three stars on melee and 1 on MDF, so now hes a front liner.

Also my seed has one hunter cabin but the town has yet to have a hunter for hire, and all of the poachers have been shit.

With the Undead Legionnaires calling you 'False King' and now the witches 'smelling your ancestry', who the hell is the Merc Captain descended from?

Still very hard to find decent archers. Anyone with 50+ in archery and 2+ stars is just so rare.
Yeah melee badasses are all over, but I only have one good archer and he was my starting bro.

Brawler, Wild man, and then raiders and Hedges are guaranteed front liners, plus you have a decent shot with farmers, masons, and even jugglers.

Hunters are the only high chance archers and they're too fucking rare. Poachers just suck and Bowyers aren't very good either. Every witch hunter I've hired is better at melee to boot.

But why

So far:
- Fought hexes two times, once 4 of them, once 1+ a bunch of spiders, by some miracle I didn't lose anyone (one permanent injury) but they're a real pain to fight and I will probably try to avoid them if I can. Getting people charmed is too big of a risk, hex is very strong too.
- Spiders are very interesting to fight. Probably a little weak in the lategame without some sort of bigger spiders to support them, but they can be hard in the early and mid game. I also noticed they never use web against wardogs, this may be a bug.
- "find location x" contracts are back, what's next, rivers?
- the contract that sends you to hunt the new beasts could be a little more specific. It tells you the name of the area but I didn't have that area and its name cleared from the fog yet, so I spend minutes looking all over the map to find it.
- crafting is pretty nice
- I tried using a goedendag from the backline because it kinda looks like a pike.
you can't, goedendags suck :negative:
