goedendags suck :negative:
Goedendags are the best early weapons in the game. Increased chance to hit AND good damage just can't be beat, and as if that weren't enough, they have stun as well. Suck? Come on, now.

Yeah, I found a goedendag super early and it was a great reliable weapon until you start getting second tier stuff. THC+ is a godsend if your early bros don't happen to be high-skill superbros.

So I just recovered from that 6-death caravan trip, getting some new bros up to speed, and accept a parcel delivery quest. No problem, right? We get an event to peek inside the parcel and out pops 10 skeletons at night.

We are currently an entirely sword/dagger/ranged company :shredder:

I posted this Site of Map seeds a while ago, but as a reminder that it exists and got updated for the new DLC seeds, here it is again.

It just shows the traits of your starting Bros, but people also rate the maps. (Not my site, I just found it.)

Maybe if I got one super early it would work for a while because the damage is pretty nice, but IMO using first line 2h weapons in the early game is a bad idea in general. You have too little armor and melee def. Stun on a 2h weapon is meh, you don't want to spend a turn to use stun with a guy who sacrifices having a shield if you can get it from random 1h clubs.

Lars the Lunatic did me in. I wondered why a few raiders and a brigand leader counted as 3 skulls, turns out the fucker can single-handedly 1 hit kill my heavily armoured Shield Expert who typically stands there impervious for the entire battle.

Time for a new company!

Yeah I've had two wipes so far. One - I took a caravan quest and attrition did me in. The second... fucking witch + that fat fucking monster that regens health.

The end is near in my second game... 5 necrosavants jumped us in a caravan run. I am not even remotely prepared for such a thing

So what do people think is the new late game uber melee bro meta? Pre-dlc it was basically the heavy-armor inspector gadget build with quick hands / bags and belts built with a 2-h sword, 2-h hammer, bill (or similar) and shield.

Bags and belts doesn't remove fatigue from 2-h and shields now, so that build is about 20 fatigue worse.

One option is to just go for REALLY high fatigue bros. Another maybe is to skip the shield and replace the 2-h hammer with a 1-h hammer, and maybe trade the bill for a goblin spear? Or maybe skip bags altogether and just choose weapons carefully for each battle?

I've played around with the new nimble and I really like it. The math (I think) is that optimal armor is 0 fatigue (or perhaps uniques with very good armor->fatigue ratios). Anyway, a linen-clad duelist thief just personally leveled 4 ancient legionnaires when the band got ambushed by a dozen of them in the cargo / crystal skull event. Would have had casualties and maybe a wipe without him.

I think the math for nimble works out to lower total armor + hp vs. a battleforged brother in plate (unless you had insanely high hp), but a lot more fatigue and some extra defense from dodge. Things like cleavers, swords, goblin arrows, etc., get much scarier because you don't have the damage reduction from their low armor effectiveness (and bleeding does full damage). Hammers and axes become less threatening.

Anyhow, creating some interesting builds...

Just spearwalled like 30+ spiders to death. It was glorious. Fuck those guys.

Edit: fought the band's first witches. Fuck that. 1 dead from a hex.

Not heard too many great things about the beast enemies so ive been avoiding em in my early game. But to keep it in perspective, almost every first few encounters with a tough BB enemy has made me google "so and so is OP". I think a couple of balance passes and established strats will put them in place.

Luckily for me, they werent the main selling point of the dlc. I love all the other additions with the new weapons, armor, late game content and other general updates. The retreat option and turn ender is a godsend.
What Id love to see is a future expansion that focuses on the human enemies. More fleshed out rival mercs, specialist armed mobs, outside invaders etc.. All the best to Overhype with this first big update so we get more to follow.

Yes, Nimble builds have become very strong and they cost nothing with 0 Fatigue armor. All you really need is HP which is basically armor. So, Backgrounds with high base HP like Wildmen do pretty well. Bleeds and Poison bypass Nimble though so enemies must be chosen carefully. And since only armor affects Nimble, it's possible to wield two-handed weapons or heavy one-handed weapons and shields (the 0 Fatigue armor means the Fatigue pool is pretty high to start with).

Battle Forged Zweihanders are still very strong. The only difference is that now super recruits can't easily reach invincibility with Reach Advantage. And as you said, the B&B/QH combination doesn't really work anymore for them. But at least, you're not forced to go that way if you have low Fatigue. And if you have both low Fatigue and low HP, you can opt for the new two-handed Mace (or the old Greataxe) for efficient single target damage.

Fighting against Hexes is not only annoying, it's downright unfun. Doesn't seem like there's any counterplay against Charming/Hex, other than waiting it out.

You shouldn't have to unequip every weapon in your company just to gimmick-beat a monster type.

I've found hexes to be the most fun of the disabling status effect-inflicting enemies. Dealing with charmed bros, avoiding AoO zones by spreading everyone out, trying to keep someone with stunning weapons in a central position. Alps are a lot worse. They sleep multiple characters per turn, nightmares do a shitload of damage, and they usually appear in larger numbers than Hexes and are harder to chase down. In general, though, I prefer straight-up brawls with bandits or orcs; they play more to the strengths of the combat system.

Also, I've reached day 100 now and still not a single goddamn spider in sight. :argh:

If there was beast endgame crisis with monster powah combined it would be brutal.
