Me and JRIz played, here are the files

Game 1 - https://www.mediafire.com/file/f9h6498l1o3hcw4/2P_MEETING_OF_MINDS.2019-08-24.15-48-26.rec/file
Game 2 - https://www.mediafire.com/file/afmol7pnthjtyr5/2P_FATA_MORGANA.2019-08-24.16-04-04.rec/file
Game 3 - https://www.mediafire.com/file/ez7sp1vjrs7uq9x/2P_FROSTBITE_RIVER.2019-08-24.16-38-15.rec/file

My toughest opponent so far, JRIz almost kicked my butt in game one. The tac mass was kinda expected, but the he ALSO teched up, and got to t2, which surprised me considering the amount of tacs he fielded. I preserved my shoota boys as best as I could (after losing a mek early on, stupid mistake), and Nobz saved the day.

Game 2 saw more sloppy play from both sides. I sent an scarab to try and decap shit, only to find a FW squad, and not accomplish anything. Afterwards, both sides amounted troops, and both commited a few errors, but I ended up doing better and winning the game.

Lots of float from my side in both games, I was stressed for apm.

Game 1
I like the marines pushing, despite having several errors when the chips are down, he went for the right approach. Marines can melee the shoota boys and the Force Commander killed the Big Mek in the confusion. He even got to tier 2 first despite starting with no generator and 3 marine squads. But what I did not like was the Tier 2 approach. JRiz seems lost. Instead of going for the Sacred Artifact / Machine Cult option, he went big on marine heavy weapons. This backfired horribly when he approaches the Ork bases with upgraded LP2 and dakka turrets everywhere. Settlement gunfire silenced the Assault Marines and the big shootas massacred 90% of the attack force. So one near-dead Marines limped back to base, pursued by 2 full squad of shoota, Nobs. Nob squad being such a hardcore melee unit gets teleported in by the Big Mek. SM was totally unprepared for that. No LP2 upgrades, no vehicles.

The options for SM vs Ork in Tier 2 are so varied but here are the 2 main tools you could employ:
1. Sacred Artifact aka Three Heroes
Librarian, Apothecary, Grey Knight, Chaplain
Give the heroes plasma pistols. Attach Grey Knights with Chaplain. Combine the Chaplain Demoralizing Shout with the Knight's Psychic Inquisition for massive damage. Add in the Librarian's Smite for big area damage. Add the apothecary to add extra melee tie up and healing for the marine squads.

2. Machine Cult aka Vehicles
It can come in many form. But generally you can go for Rhino first to safely retreat from unfavorable fight, and redeploy the heavy bolter marines from a longer distance. If you want more anti-infantry fire power, landspeeders are cheap and can jump. If you want more punch, you can go for Land Speeder Tempest, they can be upgraded with anti-infantry grenades or anti-vehicle/structure krak missile. However, if you want ultimate face tanking to punch thru the building turrets, look no further than the dreadnought. This will force the Ork to spend on anti-vehicle so it must be employed quickly and with support. Hopefully blowing up an important structure like waagh banners.

Other tools you could've exploited is the Scout infiltration. Give them sniper rifles and the Orks will struggle without detection. A few volley from the Sniper scouts and the Shoota boys morale will break and they won't hit anything.

Game 2
Tau matchup vs Necron is p. terrible. But with tier 2 they do have a better chance. But the poor transitioning to tier 2 costed them precious time. You did not get generators while the Path of Enlightenment is underway, and that made you idle upon hitting tier 2. The optics are not enough. You needed more. Devilfish helps a lot with saving your army from the solar pulse. Pathfinders gives your army burst damage potential you sorely needed. It was a straightforward Necron Tier 1.5 Deathmarch that ended the game.

2-0 to Deso. Love the effort from Jriz in Tier 1 but more experience needed in Tier 2.

Thank you for the analysis, RK47. In game 2, apart from being too slow to build Tier 2 units, I also made the tactical error of focussing fire on the Necron Lord when he was using Phase Shift, I think. It surprised me how much of a damage sponge he can be.

I think it was phylactery, not phase shift. Both are kryptonite to Tau though, and coupled with solar pulse, necron lord can singlehandedly make or break Tau/Necron matchups in my experience.

I'm pretty sure he had both in the end.
Makes him an absolute nightmare to kill with ranged troops. Might as well not bother and pretend he's literally invulnerable.

I think the biggest mistake was not using snares to halt the necron advance so the fw's could shoop at leisure.

I'm out of the country for the most part between 2nd and 15th of September, so I'll try to find some extra time to arrange my next last match during this week.

Game 1
iABq2np.png
MELEE STANCE CIBAI
You need to understand the Eldar specialist roles. Dark Reapers are simply unbeatable at range with Space Marine squads but mediocre in melee. Therefore going Space Marine melee stance or Assault Marines can counteract them easily. Add in Snipers on scouts and you can make them pay. And don't treat your Force commander so cheaply.

If you don't understand stance mechanics, there's almost no way to beat Eldar with basic space marine squads. Better to just go straight to machine cult and spam land speeders.

Game 2
rpehdjN.png
You tried your best. I suppose you need more experience before you can pull it off. But you need better match awareness. What is important and what is not important changes constantly throughout the match.

Like the ebbs and flow of the moon affecting the currents of the oceans, you too must adapt to the changing circumstances. A dish is at its fullest flavor at a certain temperature, never forget that.

The map pick is a bit of an error. You should really go for larger maps like Tranquility's End or Meeting of Minds for such a strategy. Because fast tier 2 demands the sacrifice of military strength in tier 1.

Ninjerk Demise's combination of small map size and low resource point makes it easier for you to be attacked. I hope you can improve from here onwards.

JK actually I won by official forfeit. :negative:

at this point i'm not even upset

just terribly disappointed

so i guess that means 3 forfeits on this match day (stormcrow, janior, nahel), with i guess the same three on the next, final one

next time i get the brilliant idea to start a league in this shithole, someone hit me over the head with a lead pipe

Yep sorry it got crazy and I could not play anything before the exam (for a stupid job in Paris). I get back on the 2. I can just play all of them on the 2, including the 2 I missed, if the people are available.

Man, I'm so excited about this final week matches.
Pre-match thoughts and discussions are highly encouraged.

Deso vs Roxor
Game 1 Ork vs Chaos
Game 2 Necron vs Tau

The previous meeting of this two resulted in Roxor losing in a very casual manner 2-0.

Will history repeat itself? Game 2 match up favors Necrons. Should this go to Game 3, expect Roxor to go Chaos.

Prediction: Roxor, 2 - 1

Jaedar vs Reject
Game 1 Chaos vs Ork
Game 2 Sisters of Battle vs Tau

I wanna root for Reject's Orks in Game 1, but he needs to sharpen his Ork plays.
Game 2, I believe Jaedar knows the match up well enough. So it's gonna be close.

Prediction: Jaedar, 2 - 0

Popiel vs Snorkack
Game 1 Sisters of Battle vs Necron
Game 2 Space Marines vs Dark Eldar

Popiel will not be ready. Unless he learns quickly, it'd be a very one-sided affair. It'll take a lot to understand both match-up. IMO Game 2 is easier than Game 1.

Prediction: Snorkack, 2 - 0

Brotherman Bill vs JRIz

Game 1 Eldar vs Space Marines
Game 2 Space Marines vs Tau

These two players seem to get better and better as the tournament goes on, this final match will be their chance to show off what they learned. But everyone should not forget, even if the Tournament ends, you can still play against each other. It's close, they will go to Game 3.

Prediction: 2 - 1 , winner unknown

Hello Friend vs Stormcrowfleet

Hello Friend will take this 2 - 0 easily

Nahel vs Janior

Nahel to default victory 2 - 0

Oh yes, waiting for this. My dream is the match which lasts for an hour and the commenter is mildly drunk and completely pissed off.

I'll try to provide the best possible opportunity for a hilarious drunk cast (even better than my previous games) :martini:

Since these are both forfeits on account of soyboys cucking out like a bunch of baby girls, the actual match here would be the delayed Hello Friend vs Nahel match from the previous day.

what is your prediction for this match, shifu

hello friend Sisters of Battle/Dark Eldar
Nahel Imperial Guard/Space Marines

Game 1: SOB v IG - hello friend to take this
Unless Nahel gets some kind of supreme insight overnight, he will have trouble facing down the OVERPOWERED INFERNO TURRETS. Not to mention the guardsman squad are pretty vulnerable to morale damage from flamers and phospor grenade. Judicious deployment of IG turret is recommended if he wants to survive longer. But that will delay his T2.

Game 2: DE vs SM - hello friend to take this
hello friend has been trying out so many plays with his DE but hardly left any remarkable results. It's probably his only chance to show that he knows how to play this faction. So he'll be trying doubly hard to avoid the SOB vs SM matchup in Game 3. Should he just play it normally with Dark Foundry opening, Nahel will be pressured from the start. The DE Take and Hold countdown will begin and something will crack. Again, I recommend SM turret turtling and going tier 2 but it's easier said than done. DE will have the initiative from the start.

2 - 0 to hello friend
