I've been playing this Estonian game for a couple of days and I quite like it so far.
It looks like more shiny FTL, but it takes more simulationist approach; There's way more resource types to manage, crafting is in and it's actually central to succeeding in this game. For example if enemy manages to destroy your laser cannon module, you can build weak replacement for it from resources you have.
There's tons of different modules including generators, non-combat sensors and nutrient growing stations, to name just a few.
Weapons can roughly be divided into 3 types; beams, solid shots and capital missiles.
-Beams (usually) only require energy source to shoot, but shields stop them. Some beams cause more shield damage, but are inefficient against hull and modules and vice versa.
-Solid shots are cannons and rockets which need some resource from ship's storage for ammunition. Those bypass shields, but can be shot down by point defenses.
-Capital missiles cost lots resources and need free torpedo tube to be deployed. Those never miss and bypass shields, but point defense's can bring those down. There's several different types from dupes (which are meant to draw ack-ack while you're firing a salvo and maybe scare hostiles before they attack) to firebombs that turn ship's insides into raging inferno.
I've only manged to reach 5th sector so far and there's probably tons of items that I haven't even seen yet.
Game's setting takes much inspiration for Star Trek and seems to follow pretty hippy ethics with eating creatures that have consciousness being no-no, all participation to society being fully voluntary and recreational substance use happening in every social gathering. Squids, which are main antagonists, are probably right in wanting to destroy humans. For some reason almost every industrial or digital stage civilisation seems to be in mid of their planet destroying world wars when player encounters them.
Still nice game with challenging resource management and multi-ship combat.
