Time for a double-post!

Over the last 3 days, I spent about 6-7 hours with the Ashes 2063 Doom mod and its expansion pack - Dead Man Walking. Even though both of those have been posted in this thread, I want to focus your attention on them once again because sweet lord...

I have been playing this game for 20+ years, following every custom map posted after around 1997, every little baby step of ACS scripting and modern editors and fancier mods and DECORATE and all that jazz. I've seen it all. But for all those years of playing Doom-engine custom content, I don't think I've ever been as impressed by anything as I am with this little duet that went under the radar of so many.

Ashes 2063 / DMW is a slightly retroish post-apocalyptic experience. The less you know about it in advance, the better, but still, something to pique your interest further.

Here is a video put together by the original mod author - Vostyok (as Dead Man Walking is made by another person, even though it's an addon for the same original mod):

Here are the download links for both Ashes 2063: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ya00h8wafnipsze/AshesRelease1_15.zip/file
And for the Dead Man Walking expansion: http://www.mediafire.com/file/u9lzf6l8quzmyrr/RJAshesDeadManWalking_v1_02.zip/file

Load order should be AshesMod -> AshesMaps -> DMW (if you're playing the DMW levels).

So go. Go on. Download those files. Play that thing.

Additionally, I may or may not be gearing up to work on another addon for the mod...

Not gonna made a new thread for vapourware and possible C&D letters targets so it goes there.

The first version of PCExhumed, a reverse engineered port based on EDuke32 of the PC version of PowerSlave/Exhumed, has been released:

This is different from the old PowerSlave EX which was based on the console versions of the game, mainly the PS1 version, and was of course struck down years ago

I found Ashes 2063 to be interesting, but it's so trivial that it kind of ruins the experience. The only part that provides any sort of challenge is the end of the underground level, where you have to fight those small fetishes and than flee from the mutant crowd.

Is Power Slave even worth playing ? I barely know anything about the game.

I think it's somewhere in the middle when it comes to Build games. Not as good as Duke Nukem 3D or Blood, but indescribably better than Tekwar or NAM. I think I'd even say it's better than the middle ground actually - aside from DN3D and Blood, I think only Shadow Warrior is clearly better, maybe it's about the same level as Witchaven 1 (certainly better than 2; though do keep in mind I like 1 a lot more than most people), I think a little better than Redneck Rampage (others might say more than just a bit). If you like the engine then it's certainly worth at least trying it out. Cool setting too.
