Seems reason for removal is they only had a timed license from GW and it just ran out (was good for 7 years).

Should have done an announcement+ a sale imo.

That was definitely a lousy move (not informing people beforehand).

This game may not be for everyone, but I really enjoyed it and finished all the included campaigns (sadly, outside of some Dark Angels and Salamanders missions, they felt basicaly the same).

There is an awesome mod for the game called 'Cold Corridor Combat' (made by the guy named 'dv', and with help of some other Warhammer fans). I would really recommend it for one's second and further campaigns.
It adds a lot of stuff to the game (focus is on Space Marines) and makes it a bit harder, but does not overhaul things like stats and mechanics. You play basically the same game, but its bigger, better and more interesting.
More weapons (including artifacts), many new space marine chapters (each one plays a bit different), bugfixes, quality of life improvements, there is also a new campaign.
The thing is... even if you own the game, this mod requires all the DLCs for many of its features to work (legal reasons), and you cannot buy these DLCs anymore. This same goes with DLC locked Steam achievements (some people care).

This sucks. It was a cool game.
Digital distribution has its merits, but this situation shows why the good old physical copies are still valuable.

Agreed.

Speaking of which, this game did get a physical release on the PS4, so, if you missed getting it on Steam, it's still available that way.
