Invest in crafting, and hoard everything you see. You'll need it.
Yeah crafting is for sure the way to go. I am going to be dismantelling armors like crazy so i have enough resources to craft throwing weapons.
Which weapons should i focus on? Chakras look pretty cool but not very resource friendly.

When I did that build I chose to focus on Javelins, to roleplay an imperial guard, but yeah they're not resource friendly. Consider putting points in STR (it will help with block too), if you find the weight management difficult, then pick the smaller weapons. Also put a lot of points in critical strike, throwing is kind of weak as it is, even with the passive.

Just pick karda and kite with poison. It is the cheapest option by all means. Throwing has a ridiculous ceiling really and AoD isn't that hard and become trivial if PC keeps fighting.

Throwing has one of the most overpowered passives, honestly. Once you have a 70% chance to ignore armor there are a lot of enemies you can fuck over without trying. Critical Strike is bad synergy because you get either weapon mastery or a crit on your blow, and your weapon mastery already ignores armor so a crit isn't that much more valuable. Just make sure to have 10 perception for that +48 THC and stack crafting on top so you can masterwork and balance your weapons. Throwing also gets easy synergies with both bows and crossbows for +3 THC so putting 1 or 2 points into both of them is not a bad idea later on. Plus it's a one-handed weapon so you can get yourself a shield which you craft into a high DR and vsCrit.

What is the actual route for making Antidas Gaelius' vassal? Do I need to stay as a praetor of house Daratan until an opportunity presents? Tried jumping ship to Gaelius and thought I would get an opportunity to get Antidas to bend the knee before siege in Gannezzar but that was not the case.

Yes you must thwart assassination attempt on Gaelius, refuse to become Gaelius praetor (so no Maadoran questline) and at Ganezzar convince Antidas to join Gaelius side during the siege.

Ok, that gives the Daratan praetor who likes Antidas personally while also recognizing that the man lost the plot and is an incompetent leader a pretty cool arc indeed. Thanks.

Anyone knows what the lowest achievable reputation is with any given faction? Doing an IG playthrough, am currently sitting at -39 with TFTG.

I was being serious, wanted to know how far it could be pushed.

Think that's the limit, I can't find any more thieves to kill.

Even after the ambush encounter when entering the Slums? Also, did you enter Ganezzar from a smuggler route after going back from Al-Akia?

it's not like it makes a difference once it goes below -20

I liked an assassin playthrough I made once, where I managed to piss almost everybody, got ambushed by most factions in Maadoran and owned them all with my surpreme dagger + critical strike build

Even after all of those and Basil's final arranged meeting. Can't find any way left to fuck the thieves in the arse.
Start as a mercenary. Join the merchants. Cheat Mercato out of his money. Kill Cado and the rest (-29 Thieves rep). Then either join Carrinas and kill Bassar and the Ganezzar branch. Or stay with the merchants and kill both Levir (side with Lorenza) and Bassar.

Oh, I had never joined the merchant's guild so far. Gonna save that info for another playthrough.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Who here plays with mods? I know that I'm going to play AoD again sometime soon, but I've never tried the mods. Specifically, I'm thinking about this:

Community Edition.

Looks like it offers locations that were cut from the original, items from DR, new optional fights and quests that work with the original material (always wanted to follow up re: Hellgate with Esbenus), and little stuff like being able to melt down the chopper.

Community edition introduces new bugs, for example I didn't get +1 word of honor after giving gold to Esbenus at the mining outpost.

Vault Dweller , or anyone else, I just got to the junction described in this steam thread:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/230070/discussions/0/348293292496816231/

It's from 2016 but nothing seems to have changed, can you confirm this is still the case and this branch of the story hasn't been revised?
You should be able to heal CON dmg without going to a healer by using the healing salves for stat dmg, which is not mentioned there because those salves were added later I think. But you should still die if you can't pass the check with your full CON obviously.

My issue isn't the CON damage itself - I doubt I would have had a chance with 6 CON - but that by choosing to go along with Agatoth, I'm being directly teleported to Meru's palace, without a warning that a fight is unavoidable, i.e. my social skills can't influence the outcome.

The problem is that it's quite possible for a talker character to reach this junction - meeting Agatoth while Meru's efforts to revive Balzaar are in progress - but this talker character would never receive a warning, "stand down buddy, you don't have the physics to measure it with Biggus Diccus". At least if there was a warning in the dialogue, it has been too subtle for me.

Also, due to expectations formed from other RPGs, when I got the "blessing" I assumed I don't have to worry about anything going forward, and the fact I never got an intercession from Agatoth during my dialogue with the possessed Meru "felt like a bug". I don't know if this all worked as intended.

With enough lore and crafting, you should be able to blow up Agathoth to side with Balzaar without fighting, but without CON to withstand Balzaar, I think your only option when siding with Agathoth is to use the spear.

Then I must have reached a dead end - 8/8 in lore/crafting it's still not enough to blow up Agathoth. I don't have the lockpicks skill to get the spear (don't remember how much it was) without passing through the red beams 3 times. And without the spear and without CON, I'm stuck.

Finally took the time to go through this game and I have mixed feelings. For the clear positive, the game's universe is refreshingly original, and the various starting backgrounds pretty cool in injecting you into the story in alternative fashion. The not-forced-but-almost specialisation too is pretty neat in not just opening up avenues but also closing up some. My smooth-talking praetor had to forget investigating a good few leads or refuse to help a good few people because of the vague possibility of getting hurt. The choices & consequences seem aplenty and there obviously are many endings. While I only did one, I've seen (and failed) enough things getting there that I can perceive where some of these lead and I probably missed many more considering I didn't even enter some locations (or entered, took a peak, then fled).

On the other hand, I don't know. At times it feels a lot like a text adventure or, dare I say it, a visual novel. And the brutal instant failures mean that too many times I ended up reloading a save, and trying something else, or simply using xp to reach the skill trigger required to pass the check. While this is fine from a logical storytelling point of view, it makes the final experience feel pretty disjointed with too many "in hindsight" decisions I absolutely didn't make the first (or second, or third) time but ended up doing because anything else ended with my death or the seeming complete end of a lead. Bit like having 14 bookmarks in a choose-your-own-adventure book. It works, and it's interesting to explore the branching, but a bit more gracious failure would have been neat I guess, encouraging me to continue depite my failings with some consequences, just not as drastic.

Anyhow, it lasted around 6h and I can see I only scratched the surface. Went with a smooth-talking loyal Praetor, and ended up slaving away to WILLINGLY SERVING THE GOD Agathoth, with Antidas getting his dream job. There was one combat I couldn't dodge in the end: the final one against the guards at the Dead River. Got through that one by running away, letting Dellar and Antidas win it by themselves. Took me 6 attempts not to get crit-sniped by archers, but I got there in the end. As the game went through, I ended up pushing more and more points into Lore, it seems one of the most rewarding skills from a story discovery point of view, although I never ended up with enough crafting to put it to better use (managed just enough to rearm the grenade to take down that first construct in Hellgate though, that was satisfying). I feel next time I should go with a combat monkey for a drastically different experience, either siding with the Imperial Guards or the Boatmen.
