As stated, super impressed by what you did. I never thought one could do so much in, basically, 45 days ! Impressed by the number of animals and by the balls of doing a two-men expeditions.

It would be incredibly funny if the second bandit attack we expect would fall on another player than you :).

Sorry for that sarcophagus. All that for a dog :)

Alright you fuckers. Bought the full game plus dlc, directly from the developer's website.

I even splurged on the option to have my name in-game.

Happy now? :rpgcodex:

So we'd have the change to get a colonist called Azira in the future? Nice.

A small update for the start of winter.

t5nc5dK.jpg
To my surprise, corn is still barely growing even in the winter. It doesn't get cold enough to kill it in the night, not yet at least. And in the day there's a few hours of plus degrees, that allows growth - though just at 5-10% of the optimal pace. But it let the corn reach the threshold for being able to harvest (it's 65% or thereabout), so we can harvest it before it gets killed by the cold. At least partly, on the left side they're still at 61% or so since they were planted a moment later. Will see if we get them to harvest too, won't bother with the stuff on the other side of the wall now, to not get caught pants down by the raid.

And a new infestation appears:
KYreACy.jpg
IGXRpsN.jpg

Luckily for us it's in the crypt spot again, and not in the wood burner room. This could be helpful against the raid too, since they might fight this shit before attacking us.

And I realize I've forgotten to build the communications console, which allows us to talk to the other factions (useless before they're allied to us, which they ain't yet), or to trade with ships coming to the orbit (happens randomly). Ofc if we don't have a console, we wouldn't even know if there's ships passing by. So now we have the chance. We can beam stuff up that's in the range of the orbital trade beacon, which is barely visible in the crafting room below a stack of drugs.
fgi1qMw.jpg

I've designated most people to stay inside the walls, with only 2 guys allowed to go outside for hauling shit we need from there. And we have designated working hours in the morning, in the evening people are then free to add in recreation as well. Note that Julio (our new quest reward guy, I rename him to ItsChon in a moment) and ValeVelKal are night owls, so they have a different shift to keep them happy. And it can be good to have non-stacking working hourse otherwise too, so people don't interfere with each others tasks as much. But you also would want them to eat and do recreation at the same time, to allow for socialization... But it isn't maybe worth too much trouble to optimize that shit.

UQOdbVz.jpg

Some patchleather falls from the skies. It's Demo.graph's job to get this shit, he's a jogger so a good match for long distance hauling.
9egXiu0.jpg

The animal list keeps growing as the animals are giving birth. And there's still more to come. Also training some of them constantly, soon some know how to haul and that'll free up some human labor for other shit
Cxw8CYk.jpg
5NqjVyY.jpg

ItsChon's grandpa comes for a visit with his pal
MYF8eoj.jpg

And an importan research project is finished, transport pods. Now we can trade alot faster, or send gifts, to other factions. Or launch to another spot on our own map for tactical advantage in a battle. We'll have to refine some chemfuel to run it though, will get that started soon.
jSIABwT.jpg

Also running out of steel, but we can mine more still easily. We need steel for building the biofuel refinery, the transport pods, and the shotguns for sale, plus anything else that comes up. Steel is always in some demand.

ex3bIDf.jpg

And finally, they're here:
It's a damn big raid. Many dudes, many rocket launchers, many of the guys are good shots, too.
MbvSoc5.jpg

Luckily they spawn on the side of map where the insectoids are. Those have dug their way out of the crypt room, so they're easily targetable by the pirate raiders. Still the insects shouldn't be much match for the raiders, but might cull their numbers a bit - and make them spend some of their rocket launchers maybe. If they don't fight each other, what we can do is use the animal psychic thing, that makes all wild animals on the map go into a rage. So they'll have to deal not just with the insects but all the squirrels and gazelles out there. Should be fun. Then we can see how many survivors they have after fighting those.

Also in the group there's a lover of one of our visiting archer meatshields.

But it'll have to wait for another update. Sorry for the slow pace, we'll get to the end of the year eventually.

Oh yeah, bring on the raid, this should be fun! :bounce:

I am amazed by our animal army, I don't think I've ever gotten more than a few cows or chicken at a time in Rimworld. This looks more like one of the dreaded catsplosions from Dwarf Fortress to be honest, good thing FPS Death isn't really a thing in Rimworld.

Also, I just noticed my character is only 24 years old and already has almost no hair, damn bad genes :negative:

the animal psychic thing, that makes all wild animals on the map go into a rage

Does this affect also the tamed animals? Because if that's the case, it's going to be a carnage, considering how many there are in the colony.

Tamed animals aren't wild.

It used to affect them too, but was changed in the 1.1 patch (released same time with royalty). So it's p. ez mode now. If it affected tame animals too, could still come up with some heat room to make tame animals pass out in (just only brainstormed the idea now), or something similar which would have hilarious potential to backfire.

And the battle ensues!

First they chill for a moment and plan their attack or whatever. There's also Comtesse's ex there:
CPqLS4J.jpg

No wonder they didn't get along.

Running out of electricity, kinda unexpected, I'll fire up the old wood burning generator to help with this.

lWjrxXm.jpg

Switching to no meds treatment for the prisoners, we're running low on herbals now. Will treat any single cases better again who approach risk of dying, but using meds all the time on them mightve been wasteful here. The blood rot isn't that hard to deal with.
M74tnHm.jpg

I realize that the archers sent to help us can change their weapons, they just have to first drop their original weapon in order to be able to pick a new one. Almost makes sense.
FjTeVEJ.jpg

I'll also coke up these guys for the battle
JvQOv0B.jpg

And the pirates start moving...
vB25zks.jpg

They go towards the insects. Sweet.
DpRqP2Q.jpg

Aand a new quest is available... Might as well take it soon

ZRVNnLg.jpg

In the pirate vs bug battle, the caskets get hit and corpses drop out. 2 out of 5 corpses are still alive, barely, but maybe not for long...

dKeWJdh.jpg

These guys really want to kill the bughives, but is this really a wise course of action...? They're aiming their rocket launchers at point blank range
USAHoH6.jpg

Q8xSsTO.jpg

Predictable result.

So one got their rocket launcher off, another was dropped by the hit of that, and dropped his launcher... which is now burning on the ground. It can explode when it reaches low hp. And the 2 caskets are also right about to blow.

YmDPwbW.jpg

The caskets blow, for even more flames and destruction, and ItsChon gets the bright idea to pick up that corpse that fell out, before its all burnt and useless. But let's wait for a moment still now before we go in there...

qod4nsW.jpg

x26oOh5.jpg

YtW26Pv.jpg

Ok, these guys are almost done, there's so few left theyre just about to rout, and most are wounded too. Let's just send in our boys, so we can salvage more of this crap before it all burns to ashes

NKwqe3w.jpg

The tribal archers were meant to act as the meatshields here, but alas, Demo.graph gets his nose shot off

Then one more of them goes down and the rest turn to flee.

NBxEv2O.jpg

We hit the escaping guys as much as we can, many still run away. After extinguishing fires here on the corpses and loot, we finish off the insects that are unconcious, to make sure they don't make a comeback since they regenerate wounds much faster than a human

7tV5Y8j.jpg

Their boss, high on go-juice but extremely wounded, falls unconcious just right before the map edge. She's a warlordes who's good at almost everything except fighting, somehow. We quickly strip her before she dies, so her excellent gear doesn't become tainted like clothes worn by a corpse do. There's no way we can capture her, she's just a hour away from bleeding out and in the middle of nowhere.
CezDOpd.jpg

That was surprisingly smooth. And then...

DRvXHhp.jpg

JQM2LUf.jpg

ewb5Euv.jpg

That was surprisingly fast... And I didn't expect a siege from these, rather another basic attack later. But hey, we already got soldiers outside ready to tackle this. I give one of the archers one doomsday rocket launcher that the first raid dropped, and send him towards these guys with 2 other archers as escorts and meatshields.

Meanwhile the most damaged archers get to intensive care.
BklHB1K.jpg

Their mortar gets its first shot off...

dLcDFmd.jpg

And we get our first shot off.

HgOlGHA.jpg

Notice the ignited bombshells on the ground there. One mortar was also destroyed by the rocket.

XpRlBwj.jpg

The shell explosion drops another 2 pirates, and they call it a day.

cw5ENyw.jpg

Left behind is this physically hideous artist lady with a heart of gold. We should actually have enough time to save her from bleeding, but lets put the fire on her out first.

Now let's open the backdoor again, since there's no risk (not as much at least) of a massive raid targeting it. Hey, we can seal it up again if needed. Now a faster route is extremely useful.
ykohfCB.jpg

Being noseless is not popular on this here outpost:
Et7ctuf.jpg

At least Comtesse is happy that her ex died now.

One of the two prisoners we took, just dies of bloodloss as he arrives to the cell:
4vAKMB8.jpg

The staggering hideous artist survives, though.

Johannes was about to take the mortar for our use inside the walls, but has had enough. Time to wander around psychotically, I will NOT install artillery, will NOT research and I will NOT update an LP right now, I must clear my head first.
XeWt9kz.jpg

Let's strip these corpses, then they can be more easily be taken to the kibble room. The human meat will be processed with hay into kibble, which can then be either fed to animals or further processed into chemfuel. And the leather will go towards making luxury goods for sale. A boomrat likes to nibble on human feet, too.
mvMl6BL.jpg

A few animals are now capable haulers.
1o5Oqis.jpg

Realized the culprit for lack of electricity, a component had broken in one panel. We don't need to build another one after all, just replace that component to get it working again - it wasn't in designated home area so that task didnt get assigned automatically.
nJazzdi.jpg

Build a quick wall here to prevent goods from deteriorating. Will be a while until everythings hauled to the base proper.
SP6UorD.jpg

And the other spot
b0yGt4g.jpg

That's all for now, everything went surprisingly smoothly. Or at least easily. Now it's just a big haul of corpse processing and hauling.

That was some impressive battles there, or maybe non-battles given you avoided getting involved with any of the real pawns, except that pursuit where Demo.Graph had an, well, accident !

I really wonder whether the person after you will be able to improve on your design, or let it turn into s**t :)

I've been playing a lot of Rimworld after I bought it, but I feel like I'm still barely learning how to play. The shit that goes on here? Wow.
Sure. I play on a lower difficulty setting, and as an example, I got a quest yesterday where I had to defend against 57 manhunting horses, and got 13 cataphracts to help with the battle. Fun clusterfuck as the hapless horses piled through my killbox. Until a handful targetted a tamed panther that used a door elsewhere in my Grand Wall. That hurt.

This? I'm still learning.

So. About getting your name in the game? It appears that the developer has this rule of his. "No internet handles"...

jESt3vG.png

So there. You get my real name. Or close. As I couldn't enter the quirky Danish letter "ø"

It's still "awaiting review" though. I could try and put in "Azira" as my nickname, question is, would Tynan let that slide?

I re-read the rules:

AToHdEU.png

And thought, what the hell. Might as well try:

DJTL52O.png

[UPDATE]:
"Azira" is not an accepted short form or nickname. It looks too much like an internet handle. Got a big No from Ludeon Studios. So I had to change it to JepKa. :argh:

And another day passes on the rim

Construction of a new prison is underway. It'll also feature a paste dispenser, so there will be no more need to haul meals to them, they can dispense their own nutrient pastes then
4U9oE6l.jpg

Some more taming, Tindrli has such a high chance at this now it's real easy
aY8UtEF.jpg

And the real mission of the coming few days: processing the corpses from the raids.

CyZGrBD.jpg

Tindrli wants to pray after butchering just a single corpse, but I force him to continue nonstop until this room's all turned into meat and leather
wxqplfc.jpg

Animals carried some human meat to our ordinary freezer, we don't want that, gotta remove that designation. We want to process the meat asap now, without carrying it back and forth.
jrU2eqI.jpg

Some of the meat gets turned into chemfuel
8Di1vbU.jpg

And some into animal feed. The recipe is hay+human meat. The kibble can also be then processed into chemfuel, while plain hay cannot be. And 20+20 meat/hay turns into 50 kibble, so it gives a good amount of extra chemfuel to do this extra step - but we just want to process the meat fast now before it risks going bad, so some meat is turned to fuel straight away too.
jSlPQ9I.jpg

And the human leather is turned to dusters which will go for sale. Strangely it fetches an excellent price on the market, though only select few people actually want to wear this shit.
Ocp6vpG.jpg

And some new thrumbos wander in, nice to have some more work for the guest archers. If some die here that's ok too, just some more resources to run through the above process, and less mouths to feed (though food is cheap and plentiful when they just use the dispenser).
IjFAKR7.jpg

That's all for now folks... I've got some more restructuring of the base in mind too, I don't like the current position of the butchery room after all, forces too much walking. Also once the new prison is done, I want to move the hospital next to that, so they can both get medicine from the same shelves. And living rooms are quite random now, not everyone has a proper one, nor has a good barrack... And inside the walls there's not much room for plants once the growing season comes in again. And a dedicated strorage room would be nice, to have the workshop room less cluttered and fugly. The monuments will free up some space once it's ok to demolish them, so waiting on that also - and deconstructing them will provide resources to build new walls. Will see which stuff I'll manage to tackle during my consulship, and how well. And whatever new random stuff comes up, who knows, stay tuned men.

Don't you get big mood penalty for butchering human corpses? Both for the butcher and everyone else? How did deal with that?

And as the thrumbo hunt begins, something happens
dxLbJYW.jpg

gRjV9dX.jpg

That's nice, but now lets whack the beasts first.

2l98vwo.jpg

Suddenly a guest of ours decides he's got better things to do. He's a gourmand, like Tindrli, after all.
266KIeU.jpg

KckkpKn.jpg

One guest archer goes down, but that's all right.

prXFH5J.jpg
F4LvAkG.jpg

Eventually all thrumbos are unconcious, hunt is a success

Afterwards Demo.graph goes to haul some corpses

But he's broken by the sight, and leaves the task in order to eat like that ungrateful guest Tol.
2ZKO42D.jpg

An archer also breaks down while hauling an unconcious thrumbo. And I didn't even realize she had a lover, guess it was one of the guys who raided us. Also, usually you can't make these guests do any work besides fighting, but they will rescue unconscious people and animals.

LKcoNqW.jpg

It's a relatively small effect, but the "butchered humanlike" malus does have some effect here I think. But it should be worth it ultimately.

Lack of sleep is getting into Johannes, and he can't stand to watch some useless archer try to gorge himself on our milk and meals.
vNEeP8l.jpg

A bit over the top? I don't know, it's another duster to sell for us and one less gourmand mouth to feed.

Eg2sKyM.jpg

Bury the body discreetly into the monument? Nah, we're gonna butcher this dude.

And the corn's ready, or at least ready enough that something can be harvested.
Fxnyf5A.jpg

Don't you get big mood penalty for butchering human corpses? Both for the butcher and everyone else? How did deal with that?
Like so
Vl1ORIP.jpg

Mostly it's a big mood hit for Tindrli who's doing the butchering. -23 mood for the maximum of 10 corpses butchered, but that will go away after a while.

The guy who got wounded by the thrumbo dies, what a shame
0sXBwn7.jpg

Yeah and about that caravan...
BzUm3kO.jpg

Buying some more shock/insanity lances, more components, neurotrainers, and a nuclear stomach (this will mitigate Tindrlis gourmandism). In turn we give away our packaged survival meals (made for mostly selling in the first place), insect jelly, one donkey and most of our existing silver.

Some stuff goes immediately into use:

69EDERj.jpg

vtApZNm.jpg
Now he's a better trainer than Tindrli, he also has more passion for animal handling.

For some reason people like Johannes less after killing the compulsive fatty archer...
W6lnxdG.jpg

Then a party is held
KM1g6Le.jpg

Until fire breaks out, of course
H690MJj.jpg

And some more mood trouble...

DIf2eMQ.jpg

And a method to cope is needed ofc
iXMBES1.jpg

Aand a big logistical mistake! Accidentally human meat was fed to the colony for a moment. I had earlier put the dispensers as vege only, changed one of them now since the corn almost ran out then. First I had forbid from putting any meat on the hopper, but then now put that all food is ok to eat after all. So of course somebody puts human meat back on the menu, boys.
DufCf4x.jpg

q0Qo0jO.jpg

Another fight breaks out in prison, though most there are only for not even a full day - shuttle leaving in 6h.

yUzmaOE.jpg

Comtesse goes in and strikes the offender down. As long as nobody dies it's up to us what condition they are or will be.

New quest
z0211fl.jpg

I take it. Royal rank for Comtesse, I realized Demo-graph isnt optimal choice since hes got bad social. And non-nobles cant trade with empoire.

He's got a fancy sword, too
rIbtUvV.jpg

This quest I don't feel like taking though.
a1QNkZm.jpg

New prison cell is ready, now they can pick their own meals n shit.

o4pcAUg.jpg

Tindrli goes in to the prison for a moment, since he was about to start a gourmand streak. He will get some bad rep, but life still goes on.

An what is this bullshit? You want to bang a lazy guest "worker". We will see how this saga continues. This guy will just go home and you will still want to share a bed? Or will something more complex happen, we will see.
HQnTGEx.jpg

The bulk of our prisoners leave as they came with the old ass quest, giving us our quest reward of piano and megatelly

I realized we can keep their clothes, and send them back naked!
5dgqoZU.jpg

a19Ho5X.jpg

Now to just decide on the next course of action.

On view our quest rewards, and a VIP meat hacking room. And the shitton of humanskin and dusters made of it.
BiZVNkg.jpg

Oh and two of the guest archers mightve been forgotten in the hospital without feeding them. Unfortunate, but they are now dead.
