Can someone clarify - there are stats requirements to steal cars, requirements vary by the type of car, but are there stat or skill requirements for even driving the better cars?

I would think so, even the GTA games have had stats for driving and piloting since San Andreas in 2004 that make you drive better.

GTA San Andreas had gun skills that improved with use and affected gunplay.

That's how it's done in proper RPG/FPS hybrids. Gun skill affects your:

- size or crosshair (spread) OR swaying of the sights/optics
- reload speed
- drawing speed
- fixing malfunction speed
- recoil control
- additional mechanics, like akimbo

We don't have this confirmed yet, do we, about character skill controlling accuracy, damage, both or neither one?

I think a good compromise between simulationist and gamist solution would be to decrease the spread when aiming in the torso and increase it when aiming at the head. It can be done but I doubt they would bother.

I liked AP's shooting mechanic, best shooting mechanic for a game that calls itself RPG imo which made you feel the progression throughout the game, its that the game was so janky which made it seem bad. And other shooting mechanics are not so different; there is always bullet spread but when you put a circle instead of cross-air it suddenly becomes "oh no I'm not shooting where I'm pointing at, this is shit reeeee" and hack RPG devs followed suit.

I'm kinda interested to know if they've made anything interesting out of that "smart guns" thing of theirs. Is it (still) just autohitting bullets, or is there any stat/skill involvement there or any other mechanisms at play. It'd be neat if there was a sort of press'n hold target-locking mechanism paired with skill based to-hit-chances. Don't expect anything, but... it'd be neat.

Senior Level Designer Miles Tost explained that using a weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 increases its proficiency. This increases accuracy, reloading speed, and possibly more. Additionally, these adjustments, incremental though they may be, will also affect the character’s animations. One example Tost provided is that reloading animations will become “smoother” over the course of the experience. Consequently, players will feel as though they’re constantly progressing.

She loads them one by one in the first video and simultaneously in the second. This was two years ago, though. This system may be gone in the latest version of the game. We have to wait for the new demo.

This revolver spin from the new trailer makes me think its still in place and this is the max level you can get with the weapon.

Australian site Press Start reveals that the Japanese version will have several changes made, primarily to address sexually explicit references and the more extreme elements of violence.

For example, underwear will be added to character models that appear naked in all other versions, while billboards and graffiti shaped as genitals will be altered or removed.

There is a more general note observing that CD Projekt Red will "[revise] sexually explicit content" for the Japanese version. This may well include the customisable genitals mentioned in the ESRB rating.

There will also be selected revisions made to the combat and in-game violence, limiting the appearance of "exposed guts" and severing of limbs.

Maybe finally the Australian censorship board has caught up with the fact that violence and sex in video games isn't really such a big deal as people who want to play it will play it regardless. Seems Australia is always 10 years behind everyone else in regards to modern technology.
