After watching multiple gameplay videos of Sanctus Reach and marveling at how ugly the maps are (I like nice maps) I decided to go with 40K Gladius along with Tyrannids and Chaos Space Marines dlcs. The little reinforcement packs seemed too pricey.

Enjoying Battlefleet Gothic Armada so far. Thread here convinced me not to get BGA2.

Am I right in thinking Pandora and Beyond Earth are pretty but not pretty enough to be worth playing? I realize there's a lot of salt from SMAC nostalgists, but I am a SMAC nostalgist myself.

AOW Planetfall sounds half-baked in that Paradox way. Maybe next year when more patches and DLCs are out.

IIRC, pandora was perfectly playable. Beyond Earth got an expansion, and was left as broken buggy mess without any updates after that.

What I'm thinking about (haven't actually clicked "buy" yet).

Also thinking about Jedi: Fallen Order but still not sure about whether that's worth a go yet. It just looks a bit basic honestly and I'm trying to decide how much I'm interested in a decent Star Wars game.

EDIT: Just watched some of it on stream and I think it's not interesting enough

Ok, I changed my plans a bit but got Hollow Knight, the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, Metro Last Light, all three Gothic games and Contradiction (FMV murder mystery) for less than £30. That feels like pretty decent value to me so I'm not one of the people whining that the steam sales are shit now.

The Phoenix Wright Trilogy - I was worried it would be a shitty port but actually it's a very good port and I'm playing in 2K. The game is pretty good, here's hoping it gets slightly more difficult as it goes on. I mainly bought this one as a casual game for when I can't be fucked to play anything else or for various domestic reasons need to be able to put what I'm doing down at any time. So far it fits the bill but this is pretty porny for a game they released on the Nintendo DS and for which presumably a lot of the target audience are kids...

Hollow Knight - not far into it but the hype was right.

pandora is the dullest dull which had ever dulled the dull. beyond earth is one of the worst strategy games ever, but it improves -a lot-, and i mean it, with the "codex mod". but it's still an abandoned game, as such balance is completely off, as in the game being extremely easy at hard and completely impossible at very hard without directly razing your opponents' cities with just 1 rocket launcher, 1 tank and, if you want some luxury, 1 basic troop for backup. bonus invincibility if you beeline for the wonder which lets rocket launchers shoot without line of sight.
planetfall is not really that bad, but it's a mess of incoherence and generally uninteresting.

Planetfall is better than Pandora and Beyond Earth. You can get it in the current Humblebundle together with Void Bastards. A good deal imho.

You can also just buy Age of Wonders 3 with all the expansions or Endless Legend with all the expansions.

It gets more complicated and I've fucked up a few times but it's also due to some deliberate omissions where you have to 'lose' certain parts and also some of the evidence is hard to find in the pictures and hard to figure out how to use it with the interrogation but it's worth it. It's more a VN with adventure/detective elements. I'm amazed at how these simply written, cheesy characters with basic 2 frame animations get to you after a few episodes and you'll end up really rooting for some and despising others with all your soul! (DAMN YOU MILES EDGEWORTH!!!! I'LL WIPE THAT SMARMY ARROGANT SMILE OFF YOUR FACE, YOU JUST WAIT!!!). Awesome series.

Also got these along with Fallout 76, since the Sale ends today:

Any good? What should I start with? I only vaguely remember playing the Iconoclasts Demo a long while ago.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

I tried this one a while back, and it was such a buggy mess I couldn't finish it. Tried three times, but I would always get stuck in some level where something wouldn't trigger and I'd have to start the whole game over.

Fresh off Subnautica, ended up getting its standalone expansion (though I'm probably going to wait for 1.0), as well as the Outer Wilds, and an early access title people have dubbed "Subnautica in space". Just want more of that experience of being dumped somewhere and needing to make sense of it without handholding.

Also finally checking out the j-horror of Chilla's Art.
