It would be glorious.

Just imagine: full RPG system, DOW2 style, squad and party based. Single base building as per the kingdom in PF:K. Random attacks on your base. Weapons and wargear as per DOW2. Dreadnoughts, titans. All the races.

RTWP or turn based. Doesn't matter.

They're giving the IP to everyone else, why not Owlcat?.

There is no good Warhammer x40k bald space marine game so far.

Captanne Boreale's Spess Marines maaay hav floundared upon the moutaan tops ov Karuva heretic, and he maaay hav dyed, but dye in vain he did not! To question the baldness before the fullness ov such a strategic endavaar would be foolish!.

I would love something like "Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command" for PC. Or a modern "Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate".

I would love a turn based, party based, isometric 40k or especially a WFRP CRPG.

Are most people saying that if you took DOW2 and fleshed it out with a full RPG system, it would be a bad game? It would be worse than all of the other games since DOW2?.

Starting out as an initiate, and gradually moving into a high level campaign where you become a full Spess Mahreen and take on entire armies.

It would be awesome. Codex is lacking in faith.

You wouldn't really be able to do a '40k' game. You might be able to do a game set in the 40k universe, but you wouldn't be able to get a cohesive story involving different factions unless you essentially made the game multiple times over. With considerable asset reuse, but a ton of rewriting and new voiceovers etc. If you like space marines then it'd be great I guess, but otherwise... Not so much if you just wanna waaagh.

Mechanicus shows that you can use only 2 factions from the setting and still make something people will like.

True, but WH40K really needs to dial the testosterone to 11, and that's highly unlikely in current year.

So real talk, anybody looked into the Games Workshop licensing process yet? I talked with another dev on one of their (very bad) mobile games, and it seems like there's very little oversight.

there hasnt been a single good warhammer 40k cause the setting sucks. It really narrows down what kind of gameplay and story telling you can see.

The best they can do in terms of post-Wrath of the Righteous content is making one big DLC containing a smaller adventure module, like "Hell's Devils". If I remember correctly, it takes place entirely within a single city, which would make for a poor 80-100 hour full game, but a relatively large, meaty expansion - yes, please.
