My village has a tradition of dumb nicknames, so I usually draw inspiration from those. For example, a kid I went to elementary school with was nicknamed "Čvoki", and later became a priest. There hasn't been a single cleric whom I haven't named "Don Čvoki".

The exceptions include my technologist in Arcanum who was named "Spider One" after the frontman of Powerman 5000, my character in Underrail who was named "Srbota", and my character in Space Rangers 2 who was given Maxie's irl name. I also occasionally let myself use meme names like "Honkler", "Big Man Tyrone", "Putin", "Spurdo", etc.

No. I've passed the age that need to impress myself with my creativity. Nobody care for it, and nowadays, not even I.

I require names that has some background, some stories for it. Failing that, it has some origin from something.

Like Fallout2: Pyro who has Big Gun tagged. Lucky Luke who has Luck 8 (or ironically, Luck 2), plus he can get his boxing name Ironhand Luke.

In Icewind Dale, that could be a party of Bhalspawn: Irenicus, Bodhi, etc. Or a party of other dimensional visitors: Verthandi/Belldandy, Skul, Urd....

Side note: on Fallout2 there's also the name list for Prizefighter and Pornstar where you can take inspiration from. Choose a name that has corresponding tittle to it. Lucky Luke is a pretty good name if I say so myself. For female Jane would be good. or Vixen

There's creative names and there's lame ones.
The ones from your example don't fall so much on the creative category...

Usually, i use thematic names, depending on the game's settings and my mood, could be Celtics gods related (Dagda, Borvo, Badb, Cuchulain(not a god, i know), Taranis, Ogmios...) Maya/Aztec gods names (Ixtab, goddess of murder mandatory for any rogue/assassin) or from some SF novel/comic strip.

Even creative names, sometimes but close enough from previous names so a dwarf has a dwarf-like name and so on.

I usually give me character's low effort stupid names like Ugly Face. When I was playing ATOM I called my guy Cheburek, though.

If I'm feeling more serious I might give them a better name.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I just crop whatever cartoon smut illustrations for avatars and use some random female names like a normal person.

I name my pcharacter differently based on their class, except Alphard that i can use for every class.
Zhark or Nhyat for mages
Carim for rangers
Rhaegaris for paladins ( an Asoiaf sounding name)
Antares for warriors ( another star name that means adversary of Ares, the god of war in ancient Rome)
Rigel for companions

I'm very uncreative if it goes to names. Most of my names are dependent on the setting of the game and the amount of party members that i create. But for the medival fantasy type of setting it mostly the same with variations:
Conan, Kane, Kull and sometimes Kurgan. I wonder why do i always take this names? But i change them often a bit so it becomes: Con-Man, Kan-Garo, Kool-Man, and Kur-Wan.

Codexer names for my recent OpenXCom run. It was as hilarious as it can be, with known muslims running up to aliens with two alien grenades in hand, both primed, and when the aliens gunned them down... Known commiecunts also were great for scouting, human wave style.

My party always consists of friends as it should be. Would you depend upon the performance on a bunch of random strangers when the life and honor of your self-insert is on the line?

For male characters, I always use my own name or variants of it. For women, I always use Leia for warriors, Sera for rogues, Valeria for characters with guns, Alessia for rangers and Larah for mages.

I've only played one RPG where I got to name all my characters (Icewind Dale), and I went with a The Witcher-themed party and names.

You can make cool lastnames Forgotten Realms style, by mixing nouns, adjectives, verbs. For Example, Luke Rainsword, Julia Blackpussy, Byron Ironcock, Amelia Asswind. A good name for a Dwarf can be something with axe or hammer in the name, like Dragonaxe. For a hobbit Fastfeet. For an elf Woodmoon. Or also use a name acorrding to the character's face, like Chen if it looks chinese, or Shalulu if it looks like a muslim. An adjective alone can also fit, like Tall, Fat, Tiny, it's not creative but it really fits with some characters.

Creative namer?

Bro, every rogue / thief I've played has been called Garrett, all my barbarians have been named Gurthuk.

Barring those two names, I just open this prestigious list and pick something from it.

I got tired of coming up with half a dozen names every time I started a blobber, so a couple of years ago I made a list of characters that I take with me from game to game. So a defensive warrior or paladin will always be named Marius or Catherine, whereas an offensive warrior or barbarian will be named Thorwald or Ronja. Some of the characters are entirely made up, while others are from people I know in real life, like Raphael and Evelyn as healers who are named after two people I went to school with who became a doctor and a nurse respectively. Or Bianca for an offensive/blaster mage, named after a girl I was friends with that had some anger issues. Rounding up my list is a jack-of-all-trades character who can take on any role. It's a bit silly, but I named her after a girl I only met once when I was like 6 or 7 years old. We played in a sandbox for an hour or so and she was really nice, but I never saw her again after that day :(. For some reason that memory stuck with me all these years and I still sometimes wonder how life turned out for her.

I usually just grab whatever game or anime characters come to mind and try building them in the game. Makes for pretty fun parties since they are never minmaxed and have very different personalities for roleplaying.
