Gotta stop reading this thread, it's just making me want to play again.

Be sure to cast break enchantment before the last room, they are probably debuffed with ton of shit. I brought a cleric spec in banishement, 11% chance only how disapoiting ... My enchantment wizard spec to max for dominate had a 70% chance success instead of 50% from a mageknight , of course all three dominate failed.. The demon spawned my 4 wielding mantis with best gear possible (4X 230k+ weapons, hasted +6 belt , touch of ssilver ring to bypass DR )one shot it but went unconscious cause of the force damage shield. My second mantis wrecked the other, the psion helped a lot with AOE damage and dispell the main guy buff , death snare room done easily but at what cost.
Conclusion quadwieding mantis > all , Psion super good too , something to cast break enchantment and buff and you have the perfect party. Tripping gladiator was non optimum in this fight, enchantment wizard only shine in situational fights when you can cast chaos, slumber etc.The ambush before the black dragon was won thanks to her.I brought no companion to maximize xp , everyone was level 14.
This is why i like aura of dread. I was getting 70% base for dominate too (off a scroll) but 85 in dread aura and 95 with greater prayer on them too. Probably why i was getting decent banish odds aswell.
Mysticism Cleric and death knight for a full fuck your saving throws party might actually be really good.

Good luck in the keep men :salute:

Finally, after two playthroughs ended with a completely broken save at the beginning of chapter 2, I can see the rest of this game.

Now, seriously, what even is a "minotaur mage"?

Argh, the pain.
When you realize 10 levels later you accidentally picked Banishment (100% useless) domain over Mysticism because somehow the level up screen messed up.

So, at the beginning of the module, I just realized I can enter the mind of an evil cleric and trade with them. Also an assassin is willing to sell me an enchanted flail after I fooled him. Have I been missing this? LoL I always chose the door smashing route. Fuck, this will be so much easier now.

You can still kill them later if you wish so. Also avoiding the battle with the cultists might prove better in the long run. "Do I kill you now or later for better profit" is the only kind of c&c on kotc as far as I know, which makes me wonder if there might be something everyone's been missing by siding with the grey goblins.

Argh, the pain.

At this point I'm beginning to suspect you're addicted to rerolling parties and this is just an excuse to start all over again.

But really, save yourself the hassle and edit the character, we won't tell Pierre.

In the spec bar you can set what to do when your character got an AoO but right now the only option available is 'attack'. Is this a bug? Cause I really wanted to set it on 'trip' with my trip specialist.
It's for when you get swift action combat manouvers mate. Once you get greater trip the option will show up.

These attempts to get back to the character creator are getting desperate lad.

It's fine... I am clearing Castle Gleegold with my primary party. 1 Battlement left and I can attack the front gate.

But I am not gonna lie, the urge to replay the game with an even better party is very strong. Discord thinks Psychic Warriors are hot shit but I tend to assume everyone but us is drooling retards so I doubt it works out.

Also, editing your character is cheating. Maybe Banishment will come in handy in the castle. Probably not.

I don't think I can lose anymore. I have 3 rest spots, 6 of the spell restoring herbs, and a full power restore, all saved up... also like 20 scrolls of True Ressurection.

Which leads me to wonder, why did people tell me I will miss Level 8/9 Cleric spells? You get SO many scrolls of that shit that I just have the Paladin/Sorc/Bishop read those and it's fine.

I hear this is monstrously difficult so have any working tactics emerged?
Like taking more HP/initiative with everyone or having some crucial class

Yes, the tactic is to reload until you win initiative.
It's probably the hardest RPG of all time, and I'm not actually exaggerating. You wouldn't believe the things Pierre asks of you.

Fair point tbh. You even get a mass heal wand that casts faster than the real thing.
Still think your gonna miss shit like Contingent Greater Break / Spell and Power Resistance / Greater Elemental Resist but probably not necessary. You might even have scrolls for them? Can't remember.
3 Pierre tier hard fights coming up though. See how you feel afterward. Pretty damn interested to see if the uber party can carve them up.
God speed my rerolling friend.

Hah, the real Uber party will be the one after this one. This one still has the useless Whirlwind samurai...

Might actually wait until then module scene picks up and play through some of them before tacking Augury of Chaos. I'm hardly a battle hardened RPG veteran, so I doubt I could finish it. I couldn't even finish KotC1

Divinity: Original Sin 2
I just survived the Death Snare gauntlet after a couple of hours of attempts. Felt such euphoria when the death dialogue of the boss kicked in, but I also felt numb on realising that the encounters are probably only going to get even harder from here on out.

I think it's safe to say that KotC 2 has the most demanding encounters ever put in an rpg. The game is an unapologetic blend of challenging elements from other crpgs:
  • Pools of Darkness: There is a massive emphasis on winning initiative and getting a favourable turn order. Areas that suppress the party's abilities also immediately reminded me of Dave's challenge from PoD.
  • Dark Sun: Just like the final boss encounter in DS1, there are many fights in KotC 2 that contain multiple waves of reinforcements meant to batter your party's dwindling resources and life.
  • Early Wizardry: Resource management is a constant millstone around one's neck. The limited rests make KotC 2 even more challenging in comparison since it is possible to get into an unwinnable state after injudicious spell use and very limited options to refill spells otherwise.
  • Puzzle like encounters from Age of Decadence/Blackguards: Almost every encounter has certain tricks (specific abilities to use/specific enemies to focus/environment design to exploit) that can help your party survive a little longer. Also, just like in AoD and Blackguards, there is a finite amount of gold and xp in the game owing to no respawns. As a result, even the simple act of buying stuff from vendors has permanent trade offs and consequences.
I used to think KotC 1's final two fights were some of the most challenging encounters ever in an rpg, but KotC 2's chapter 2 fights alone quickly disabused me of that notion. The string of encounters starting from the Goblin King (a CR level of 14 against a party of maybe level 7) and culminating in the infamous Chapter 3 Pizarra fight could have each been a final boss encounter in any other rpg. In KotC 2 these unrelenting fights are merely early-mid game encounters, serving as trial by fire tutorials where the player is meant to realise that the environment and spell scrolls are there to be used.

Progressing through the game I've been in a constant state of 2 emotions: disbelief at the horrors Pierre throws at the player, and the immense satisfaction on barely surviving each horror. It's a game both outrageous and fantastic.

Bumbling around with yet another new party: Fighter, Mantis Gladiator, Cleric, Psionicist, Two Wizards.

Killed Mino Mage at level 2, thanks to the Fighter w/ Lightning Reflexes actually getting to swing at him. And turns out Magic Missile's dmg & prone effect helps here.

I keep hearing about joinable companions but haven't seen any, and my other party went up to the Tombs?
