Most of those stories are full of retarded themes and unlikeable characters.

Oh yes, unlike JRPGs which are exclusively known for their deeply profound themes and extremley likeable characters......

Time to stop generalizing. I'm tried of this "jRPG" talk. You don't compare Skyrim and Eye of the Beholder, so how can you group jRPGs so callously?

This happens to me a lot with movies. I get hyped about a favorite director or favorite series coming out with a new film, and then if it's only okay I see it as total trash. Later on I can better appreciate it as the okay movie it is. Examples include Prometheus, Jurassic World and Captain America 3. There are even movies I was disappointed by at first but now absolutely love, like Jackie Brown, because I expected something so different at the time.

With games though, I can't say this is a big issue for me. I'm very good at taking them as they come, I think because game sequels are different from what came before pretty often because of new technology, trends and longer development times. So I don't feel like I expect the same thing from them that often. I mean yeah, games like Deus Ex Invisible War and Dragon Age 2 were obviously disappointments compared to what came before, but I just don't feel like I expected them to be great the same way I expected Prometheus to be a great movie. I dunno.

I dont ever get surprised or disapointed about a game. I just cooly assess everything and never let emotions take over.

Step one: Only JRPG you ever played is Sengoku Rance

Step two: Use your knowledge of that game and that one Final Fantasy trailer you have seen years ago to make your assumption about the genre.

Step three: Make a retarded circlejerk about a topic you don't know shit about.

A simple recipe in three steps to generate half of the GRPG crowd, especially those from the eastern block for some reason. Namely S0rcererV1ct0r and Ol' Willy

I didn't like New Vegas for the first couple of tries, and then I turned off the piss filter with graphic modes and the game suddenly turned out to be a masterpiece everyone was raving about. Can't imagine how you play it with default graphics, though.

Also I couldn't bear more than 15 minutes in Arcanum, ToEE, Avernum/Geneforge or Grimoire. Ugly, unplayable, pretentious things.
Probably I'm not autistic enough.

If graphics can take a game from unplayable to a masterpiece then yes, you have more than enough autism.

It is not about GRAPHICS, it is about me almost vomiting because of this fucking yellow filter after 10 minutes ingame (like, literally). Turning it off, I was able to experience the quests and the story which is obviously a top tier. If New Vegas came out today I could sue Sawyer for not making the game accessible for the people with intolerance to the yellow color, lol.

They don't have real-time ray tracing. Cos you know, graphics, man. G r A p H i C s.

ok, I mixed up things a little.

"Pretentious" is mostly goes for Grimoire (self-praising in the game manual is incredible) and Avernum (yes, I get it, "living legend" line is a trolling, but still).
