For me fallout always felt like a joke or comics,it did lacked seriousness and grit.

That's Fallout 2, not Fallout.

Also combat in fallout games is terrible, easily the worst part of the games.

Fallout has excellent combat. Fallout 2 even better. It's actually quite tactical when you consider the types of builds, attacks, targeted aiming, perks and so on. You just need to move out of line of fire of companions, if you have any.

I'd say combat is one of Fallout and Fallout 2's best aspects. I love it. And that's coming from someone who prefers full party control. Swordflight also doesn't have FPC, but is more tactical than many party-based RPGs due to the tactical options on offer.

Fallout: Nevada
Fallout 1.5 Resurrection

These are the only fallouts with english translations. Olympus 2207 are F:Sonora out of the question.

Fallout has excellent combat.
Sure the system is good,it gives you options and such, but the end result is different thing. The game is a lot better as a solo, but you miss on bunch of shit that way. If it was full party control, they it would have been good. In its finish product playing with companion is like having a escort quest where the escort target have a high chance of shooting you in the back lol. Another flaw of the combat is the AP. Again a good idea but not very good execution. It would have been better if there is an option to increase them late game with perk or pumping stats. Or maybe lower your AP consumption. In solo the battles were slow.....very slow. Cleaning those raiders for the vault in fallout2 took some imagination.

Underrail isn't a Fallout clone, it's an inspired game that ends up having very different strengths than Fallout. ATOM is an example of a Fallout clone.

Same here!! How the HECKFIRE did I not know this was a done deal?!! felipepepe you jerk, why did I not know?!!!!

 you anyway felipepepe ;) Oh, and also ordered a copy!!

Well I received my copy today and I must say I'm impressed felipepepe. First it only took 3 days from when I ordered it for it to arrive to me here in the states from across the pond. Second this is how you package a book!!:

Here's the front cover:

Again, great job felipepepe! Good choice to use Bitmap Books as it's well constructed. If anyone wants a comprehensive guide to some of (if not all of) the best cRPGs ever made...... GET THIS BOOK!!

There are perks that lower AP expenditure in Fallout... There is also Action Boy and Bonus Move to increase AP pool.

Everything else you said in your post was barely plausible, half-right or outright wrong and based on distorted memories or invented experiences, possibly stemming from alcoholism and/or taking too many hits to the head.

How is that book you were working on back in the day? That was you, wasn't it?
I'm happy to say that it came out in 2018! You can get the PDF here: https://crpgbook.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/crpg_book_2.0-1.pdf

We also made a fancy limited physical edition, all profits to charity: https://www.bitmapbooks.co.uk/products/the-crpg-book-a-guide-to-computer-role-playing-games

I bought the physical book and gifted it to two people— great work! Honestly, you should keep some of the money too. I had no idea proceeds went to charity.

"Dude like Fallout is completely obsolete now. Just play Mass Effect. It's almost the same. Totally rad!"

Any Mass Effect game, even Andromeda, is VASTLY, infinitely better than Fallout 1/2. They have better gameplay, better stories, better characters. And they are far more immersive. Time on Earth is limited, any youngling is far better served playing the Mass Effect Trilogy to have fun, than to waste his valuable life on playing obsolete overrated games like Fallout 1 and 2.

I played fallout 1 for the first time maybe 5 years ago and bounced off mass effect 1 half way through. I cant agree with this.

Gothic 1 and 2, and Risen were decent action CRPGs

As numerous others have already mentioned you should definitely play Elex if you enjoyed those. Prospects for this game didn't really look good at first, but we managed to propel this game to being good through the usage of meme magic on the codex. Also, choose bandits as your faction and don't listen to popamole cleric lovers.

Is that you Skyway

He dead.

Darkwood (does it classify as RPG, though?)

Decent game, but definitely not an RPG.

Outer Worlds is alright

No, it was a total disappointment. Boring combat, boring story, boring setting, boring characters, boring loot....

Witcher 3 for tits

Witcher 2 is a better option if you prefer Triss. She looks better in the second game and has better nude scenes.

- Elex (seemed fun, but it stopped working on such regularity that I couldn't finish it

No bullshit excuses! Go back and finish it.

- Shadowrun Dragonfall : the only Shadowrun Returns game you absolutely need to play
- Disco Elysium : while the main plot is rather weak, both the setting and the "multiple inner voices" mechanism are superb.
- Kingdom Come Deliverance : great medieval sandbox RPG.

Seconding Underrail & Age of Decadence, even if they are very specific titles for a very niche audience.

Not a specialist of dungeon RPG but I'm not a fan of Grimrock 2, I much preferred its shorter, quirker predecessor Grimrock 1 - along with Might & Magic 10 and Bard Tale 4. I'm probably an awful human being.

I see some people recommended Serpent in the Staglands, is it really worth it ? (I already have it in my Gog library but never played it)

Ghost of a Tale has a certain Gothic vibe.

Ghost of a tale felt more like an adventure game to me (lovely game).

Sunless Sea
Sunless Skies

More of a roguelike x abstract deck building hybrid than a RPG but I loved Cultist Simulator, from the same writer than both Sunless games. The mythology is fresh and original while still feeling distincly Lovecraftian, and the core idea of dropping you into an arcane simulator where you need to understand and master hermetic rules, for a game where you play as a Lovecraftian character seeking to master eldritch forces, is fantastic.

I haven't touched Bard's Tale 4 yet, but the others are great games, I feel no shame saying that. It's a little odd for me too, because other than Lands of Lore I didn't really play blobbers back in the day. Should rectify that someday, when I retire and gain immortality.

Jumprope City is the best RPG in the past twenty years and nobody has even heard of it. I haven't seen a single Youtube video of someone playing it.

Every single thing you mentioned Underrail does 10 times better, there is way more build variety, and a way more developed perk system with alot more tactical options and abilities, are you sure you even played the game?

You're not a storyfag, are you Lilura?

oh she absolutley is, she tries to repress her inner storyfag real hard but it's easy to notice.

It was good, but Underworld Ascendant was even better and so was The Last of Us 2.

The combat and character building in Underrail is vastly improved compared to Fallout so...
You're not a storyfag, are you Lilura?
She compares Underrail to Jagged Alliance 2 because Underrail does not do what Fallout does content-wise.

It don't do what JA2 does neither.
I agree, but they're both oriented around combat and exploration whereas Fallout is oriented around social hubs with exploration and minimal combat on the critical path.
