Release on September 8th. Trailer shows little bits of disjointed gameplay footages.

It releases in a couple of weeks, I guess I'll wait for the reviews. The fact that the gangs are limited to 5 members, implying that they are similar in power/cost balance, does not look promising.

Yeah agreed. Every house may as well be the same, just different skins. Such a wasted chance.

Reviewers will probably suck the game off regardless tbh because iT's ReTrO.

That was my initial reaction to Mordheim's factions as well, but they turned out to play differently enough in practice (although I only gave two factions a proper try, but I imagine it's the same for all of them). That said, the diminutive squad size is a red flag for sure.

From memory the sizes of gangs in a battle was a pretty key differentiator for houses' play styles. I find it weird that they've taken the design decision to remove it (plus half of the 'starter' houses ffs). Presumably they didn't think GW's balancing would translate well to video game?

Not for the core gangs. They really were almost the same except for bonus skills.* My gaming group all used different gangs and every gang fielded about 8 guys, just how it worked out. Now you had also had lunatic expansion gangs like the Spyrers or Scavvies, who used fewer high-value units or flooded the field with expendables (respectively) but they were experimental silliness added later to shake things up once the basic game got boring.

*Not to imply bonus skills are insignificant. A Shooting gang plays very differently from a Ferocity gang, and so forth, especially after levelling up enough to really bank some combos.

Hope might be the first step on the road to disappointment but starting to really believe this is going to be an allright 40k game, liking what I see so far.

I mean they weren't kidding when they said there would be healthy customization options and maps do seem interesting...The only real red flag I have left would be the lack of gameplay vids but if they can fix that then I'm reasonably confident this won't be another aeronautica imperialis.

Geez, what happened to the Orlocks? Back in the 90s they looked like normal, sane guys with headbands. Now they're wanky Goliath wannabes.

Game is looking more interesting. Verticality looks real. Still gonna wait for more houses though.

It looks better than I expected. I just wish they would release all six houses upfront.

Hopefully there's a good "campaign" mode that tries to recapture the TT games I played 20 odd years ago.
