What are your Unpopular RPG Opinions?

The best story ever told in a mainstream videogame, including all RPGs in the Codex 101 list, amounts to little more than a light novel aimed at teens.

I don't know how people quantify "the best story evah" but there are plenty of good stories in all sorts of mediums: film, tv shows, books, video games, paintings, etc. There's this weird obsession with the notion that a video game can't have a good story, which is retarded.

All that to say, obviously gameplay is far more important in a game, but it's pants-on-head retarded to claim that somehow it's impossible for video games (or any other medium, for that matter) to have a good story.

While gameplay is most important, without a good story or cool world to explore I'll usually get bored and quit before the end. Those things are essential for continued motivation.

Exploration is not only one of the three core elements of RPGs (alongside combat and character aspects), but it is paramount over the others.

Bioware was decline from the start.

Both turn-based and real-time combat can be suitable for CRPGs, but the system commonly referred to as "Real-Time with Pause" is an abomination that combines the downsides of both turn-based and real-time.

How is this an unpopular opinion?
1. Since Avadon 3 and him still refusing to hire an artist after tasting the mobile market money.
2. Since the beginning when anyone says "I refuse to play this shit because of atrocious artstyle". Me included, PtD is less offputting than Jeffs skills.

Dragon Age 2 is shit
No that's actually the popular opinion. Every time I try to explain people that DA2 is a good solid ARPG where interesting mechanics greatly outweigh various (mostly perceived) flaws, I find myself standing alone against a horde of haters.

The game has an interesting story premise but the combat is just awful. And all the copy pasted environments are immersion breaking.

Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 are better RPGs than the codex gives them credit for and do a better job of capturing the feel of old infinity engine games than most of their peers.
