D&D is really not that good of a system for cRPGs. I have always found its mechanics to be overly complex and restrictive.

Talking about AD&D / 2E and also 3.5E here.

Fallout 2 was not that good and the start of the decline. (nonsensical RPGs that focus on quantity over quality)

Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 are better RPGs than the codex gives them credit for and do a better job of capturing the feel of old infinity engine games than most of their peers.
Pillars of Eternity and Deadfire have their flaws, but they are alright. I would definitely play a third one.

First is good for like 5 hours, than its boring slug-fest.

Second is even worse. Why would you play 3rd unless you like pain.

Check new games section.

Like 90%+ of releases are jrpg/japanese. Other is 5% "souls-like".

So you get at most 5% decent games out of all releases.

Trails of Cold Steel 3 is actually better than anything suggested by codexers here.

JRPG

Like 10 of this trash is released for 1 actually RPG game.
The same happens to crpg. Go on steam right now and you are going to find thousands of shit crpg released just this year. People think every crpg is great while every jrpg is shit, but both are full of shit and good games.

So I take it you hate wizardry, right? Then your opinion is shit and we can discard it.

Wizardry is great, especially the ones after 5. They are much better without anime, though.

To be fair, however, the japanese can make some pretty nice strategy rpgs (which aren't much of an rpg at all, but still cool games) and action rpgs (same).

I prefer the ones before it, but still love those after it too.

Can't be a japanese game if they are not trying to sell the game to japanese people. Still, the anime art is just a thing, a great game is a great game no matter what is the art style being used. If not, AoD would be shit since its 3D model are quite meh.

Anime is openly offensive to any sane person. It's like choosing nigger gay porn as your art-style - who cares if the game is good, it is filled with coals shagging each other and no one will tolerate this. Not to say that Japs are unable to come up with meaningful gameplay even if threatened with second Operation Meetinghouse.

Arcanum is better than FO1 or FO2.

Crusader Kings 2 is an RPG.

Pillars 1&2 had reactivity that, while generally superficial, was still fun during a playthrough, and more games should take cues from that.

The biggest problem by far with Pathfinder: Kingmaker is the number of exclamation points in its dialogue.

The best "Bioware" game since BG2 is the Cyanide Game of Thrones RPG.

The game has an interesting story premise but the combat is just awful.
The combat is the best part. Contrary to the popular opinion, you can't really win on Nightmare by pressing buttons randomly (particularly, if you also avoid the overpowered gear from the DLCs). Even though not all encounters are hard, many require having a plan and executing it perfectly. I love everything about the combat system in DA2 (except the removal of tactical view).

And all the copy pasted environments are immersion breaking.
You mean like all those copy-pasted interiors in BG and encounter maps in DA:O? You can find copy-pasted (or randomly generated) environments in a lot of games and nobody complains about it, yet somehow in DA2 it's a crime.

Cough it up, your wife's gonna eat you anyway.

Okay, I'll say it.

RTwP is fun.

i also see nothing wrong with infinity engine RTwP combat, aside from that you can cheese too easily. Overall, IE combat system is one of the most enjoyable combat system i've experienced in a RPG.
