Mine are as follows:

1. Jagged Alliance 2
2. Fallout
3. Deus Ex
4. Baldur's Gate
5. Fallout 2
6. MotB
7. Arcanum
8. IWD/IWD2
9. ToEE
10. Silent Storm

You don't have to rank them in order. Just list what you think are the best 10. If 10 is too much work, list 5. If you must list 11 or 12, do so.

Those who post ITT but don't list their top RPGs are spineless cowards.

This is a friendly thread in which everyone can freely list what they think are the best RPGs. Don't be shy.

1. Fallout 2 - it's where all started for me
2. Fallout - played it after F2, so I felt it's too short and less convenient to play (minor UI/NPC stuff) - still one of the greatest games
3. Jagged Alliance 2 - IMO it's more like strategy/tactic game and not RPG, but everyone is calling it RPG so I'll stick with that. Freedom of playing style, gun porn, lovable characters. It's just perfect.
4. Fallount New Vegas - if it were made without gaybro engine, without Bethpizda's deadlines etc it could have been the greatest. Still, I love this game!
5. Gothic 2 - one of the best open worlds ever
6. PS:T - wall of text after wall of text, still funny, well written, exciting and deep. I remember when I finished it for the first time till this day.
7. Baldur's Gate 1/2 - due to localization it's probably most important RPG for my country, still get's boring quite fast, I still like 2 due to some fights and that feeling - 'I'm on an adventure!'
8. Icewind Dale - too linear and battle heavy to be higher, but still I love the atmosphere
9. Ultima Underworld - mostly due to tech stuff, but it was nice dungeon simulator anyway.
10. ATOM RPG - yeah, I know, I should put Underrail/PFK/any other modern shit here, but I had a hard time to get into UR, never played the rest, and ATOM RPG was (for me) smooth like ice-cold Smirnoff Vodka.

Limited to 1 game per franchise so I dont spam the entire list with Dragon Quests and FFs. Also one list for CRPGs one for JRPGs to limit the seethe.

CRPG:

1. Gothic 2 NOTR
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Baldurs Gate
4. Arcanum
5. Fallout New Vegas
6. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
7. Pathfinder Kingmaker
8. Wizadry 8
9. Star Wars: Kotor 2
10. The Elder Scrolls : Oblivion
:happytrollboy:
All genuine, I actually like Oblivion a lot. The reason is that it is bad at stuff that can be easily modded, like leveling system, balance, quicktravel, and strong in parts which are hard to overmod, like questlines, guilds and environments.

JRPGs:

1. Final Fantasy IV
2. Dragon Quest III
3. Final Fantasy Tactics: WOTL
4. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
5. Chrono Trigger
6. The World Ends with you
7. Persona 5
8. Radiant Historia
9. Ni No Kuni
10. Star Ocean 1

General stuff that doesnt fit in either category but is discussed here often enough:

1. Bloodborne
2. Heroes of Might and Magic V
3. Voidspire Tactics
4. Fell Seal: Arbiters Mark
5. Battle Brothers
6. The Legend of Grimrock
7. Child of Light
8. Sunless Skies
9. Transistor
10. Disco Elysium

All lists ordered loosely from favoured to least favoured.

I like me my pretty colours. I actually think Witcher 3 and Divinity OS 1+2 are beautifull, but they didnt make the list due to lacking quality.
But I also just like generally how the world is structured. You have that big city in the middle which serves as a hubworld, and has some of the coolest shit in the game like the Arena. Sprinkled around in a ring are the smaller cities, of which all were interesting enough to me to actually remember them while playing the game. Between the outer ring and the city you have the wilderness for pretty landscapes, quests, some combat and some dungeons and stuff. Also Shivering Isles is just a ridiculously strong add on to a before mediocre game.

Fair enough dude, I think for me coming from morrowind to oblivion, transforming from an alien landscape with a hostile and mysterious atmosphere to generic european green fantasy was uhhh...how can I say it? it was...upsetting? yea I think that was it.

Damn, Lilura. I thought you had reevaluated Deus Ex and decided it wasn't top 10-worthy.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Dark Sun: Shattered Lands
Deus Ex
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout: New Vegas
Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar
Icewind Dale
Planescape: Torment
Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant

I haven't written a retrospective for it yet, so I'll just keep the list as it is on my blog. Your list is p. good except you included New Vegas. Since New Vegas was made on the Oblivion With Guns engine, it will never be respected by me.

Someone likes popamoles. Inclusion of the first two is plausible but the rest are inexcusable for a top 10.
