Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Think I got a map with roads not connecting throughout all settlements. Can't say for sure since I'm playing with fog of war turned on, but if it is as I suspect it's disappointing that this "bug" is still in the game.

I can confirm, beast slayer origin is still garbage.

I'm really liking the new environments and weather effects though. Also, southern contracts are basically impossible starting out.

So fresh impressions.
>map feel smaller, problem with edges of the map still not fixed
>southern equipment looks really nice, the base game ones look very basic compared to it
>manhunters origin is interesting(interesting mechanic, wonder if can be implemented into Northern Raider background with taking normal recruits from barbarians and raiders after battles and maybe thrall from caravans) but the indebted are garbage mostly because of low HP, getting few real background should be priority, company is cheap to run if you do not take many losses(equipment and indebted cost)
>low level battles are pretty bloody as in south bleed damage is everywhere behind every blade of grass
>most mods don't work and most my saves are gone(they are old and I forget what mods I was using(some mod manager and better saves with more info would be helpful)
>unexplored map option is nice touch
>did I mention that map feel really small right now?
>map generation kind of suck sometimes(old problem but maybe getting worse with extra three cities)
>vanilla factions feel kind of bland now
>Recovery should be free perk or there should be more options to recover fatigue(where is my drummer dammit?)
To be honest.
It kind of feel like South could be their own expansion and I definitely lack reversed map(with three big sand factions and some free crusader cities) or more map generation options.
>beast trophies increased in worth but still pay only normal % of its worth, dunno if something wrong or work as intended

Losses in Battle Brothers were costly in general (at least early on, when you don't have too many crowns to spare), but I thought you were supposed to enslave your beaten opponents, not buy slaves on the market? Or do indebted have wages or something?

YES (to both)

either have recovery there from the start or auto-unlocked at like level 4 - perk to upgrade the basic recovery, if anything at all

Into my first run, bland southern mercs. Was mostly hunting Hyenas and doing low pay UPS and caravan jobs between two close City States. Mopped the floor with the first Nomads I encountered. Bought trade goods and wanted to make my way to the north, through the deserts and lots of unexplored area. No chance. Needed to run away from Orcs and Brigands. The latter followed me, but Nomads came to my help, took care of them - so then I mopped the floor with the second Nomads I encountered.

Good times.

gladiator start difficulty is what should of been lone wolf. The gold cost keeps you from getting new gear and brothers which is more then half the difficulty of the game. Doesn't help either the southern city states are far apart and more dangerous then north so more risky making money initially.

Ifreets seem to be mostly harmless.
Game will probably spawn 40+ packs to compensate.

Update 1.4.0.34
Another small update before the weekend starts.

If you encounter any other issues, please report them here so that we can fix them ASAP.

If the game doesn't start for you, remove all mods. If you don't know how, delete the game folder manually and download the game again.

Changelog for 1.4.0.34
  • Changed ambition to visit all settlements to no longer be offered as the very first ambition for the 'Deserters' or 'Northern Raiders' origins. Instead, they get the ambition to have a roster of 12 men as in previous versions.
  • Changed battles to end immediately if there's only mortars left.
  • Changed fatigue penalty of Gladiator Helmet to -13, down from -11. It still has the best fatigue ratio of its weight class, but no longer outperforms some named helmets.
  • Changed arena mechanics to allow the player to loot gear from dead player characters after the match.
  • Changed arena matches to allow for the recovery of characters that are struck down with permanent injuries also if you lost the match and everyone who participated.
  • Changed arena matches to start with regular hyenas before introducing frenzied hyenas after the first few wins.

  • Fixed rare issue of nomads wrongly being labeled as undead on the world map if spawned during a certain twist of a certain contract.
  • Fixed issue with 'Secure Cemetery' contract.
  • Fixed issue with 'Escort Caravan' and 'Patrol' contracts for players not owning the 'Warriors of the North' and 'Blazing Deserts' DLC.
  • Fixed Bounty Hunter follower potentially also giving fractions of crowns as a reward.
  • Fixed some other minor issues.

BTW I can't agree with the opinions that south is harder overall. I have played only gladiators so far(still on early to mid game) so maybe other starts are tougher, but it's most likely the easiest start I've got till now. I've even fucked up one of the starting bros build but I'm still managing to wreck shit up just fine. Hyenas are weaker versions of direwolves, Serpents are free farm, Nomads cuttthroats are slightly stronger than bandid thugs but they're still thugs, slingers are weaker than bandit poachers, outlaws are squishier than raiders, Ifrits I found to be easy aswell(was really hoping for a atleast an equal challenge compared to Unholds or Schrats but it's not even close)and they drop 500 gold trophies, you've got arena for easy gold. Toughest fight I've got so far was indebted uprising that I got I think on second contract I've done, just because of the sheer number of enemies, but all you gotta do is hire one or two cannon fodders and you're good to go.

That said, I've seen some streams on twitch before release and I think I've got lucky with the arena fights, since one streamer got a blade dancer(I think this is his name) on 3rd or 4th fight who raped his gladiators. That's probably the only enemy I've seen that looks stronger than northern counterparts - it looks like a stronger swordmaster.

Even caravan guards are stronger on south than north. Once when doing caravan escort I got jumped by outlaws and the guards got surrounded. I thought "they're fucked". Then they fucking shot the outlaws in the face with a rocket spear and fucking murdered everyone. Besides, even their armor is better than caravan guards I think.

Gladiator start is the easiest start in the game, second only to poachers maybe. Try the other southern starts and get your shit pushed in by simple 1 skull contracts.
