In retrospect, he definitely should've stayed in a big circle for the amusement of faux Arabs.

In what order do you rate the three DLCs (Warriors of the North, Blazing Deserts, Beasts and Exploration)?

All mandatory.

I guess like Blazing Deserts is least mandatory as it's pretty like self contained content, but it#'s still p fun.

Tier 3 Ifrits were a pain in the ass until I realized their trick.

Took me a while since I was running the 3-bro gladiator start and not hiring until I had them leveled up.

Polanski they all fit pretty seamlessly in and improve the base game loop in a number of different ways. So they're all recommended, esp. since you liked the base game.

You can just get whatever looks nice / is on sale and then enjoy topping up with more later on, I guess. I personally don't like beasts as much as human enemies, for example, so if I had to I'd probably start with North.

The new gladiator trait (quickness) + berserk + 3ap dagger swings is pretty crazy. Got 5 attacks in one turn, and often enough that it's not a weird anomaly. I think if the stars align you can get 6 in one turn but nearly all hits would have to be killing blows.

What are the bros using their wages to? You already provide them with food, nobody ever asks to retire, and you can't loot their stash after they die. Even drinks in the tavern may be provided by you. They just send it to their sick mothers, or spend it all on whores? And better backgrounds require better whores?

Good point, I reached the stage in my save that my gang ate up 200 gold coins each day. Wonder what happened to it all.

I've never used any BB mods. Just took a look at the Legendary mod... seems very complex and expansive. Does it feel like a totally new game? If it's recommended by the Codex (tm) I'll give it a shot when it gets updated.

starting to feel like a long grind
> plays game for 100+ hours killing the same brigands things over and over
> doesnt realize what he is doing
> plays ironmeme
> never completes legendary locations

So... ironman style until a major battle, then the option of load if you suffer a total party-wipe or otherwise disastrous defeat?

I'll give it a shot, will help me take more risks and enjoy the late game battles.

All mandatory because the Legends mod requires them all.

Wow, how have I never seen this mod before? Just gave it a look and it looks amazing. It's actually kind of dissapointing that Overhype doesn't have this kind of stuff in the base game. "Let modders fix it" I guess...

Anyway, thanks for bringing this up. Hope they update it soon.

Game seems much harder than it used to be, playing a glad start and even the early game was very rough.

I've been using him with a polearm, he gets 3x5AP pretty regularly.

Not sure what's the best use case for the Lion and Bear is, they seem much less potent.

200 gold coins each day.

I started to play around with the swordlance which is stupid great; and a few times when fighting total weaklings (tier 1 nachtzerers, brigand thugs, barbarian thralls, etc.) I used the 6-hex swing attack of an orcish two-handed axe to refill the AP meter completely. Quite fun!

Also, Arena is pretty nice for the buffs your experienced fighters get. I did about 32ish fights and quit after (won a tournament, too which is was pretty brutal) -- does anyone know if 'veteran' is the highest buff or does it go beyond that?

What do you mean, 'gladiator trait'?

The gladiator start gives you three unique gladiator bros who have a special trait of their own -- one of which is 1 AP regained per kill (which stacks with berserk).

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Fire lances are actually very useful when massed and given to early-game frontline fodder with poor melee attack. You can obtain them reliably from the store, and the +40% accuracy on the blast attack makes it an idiot proof way to deal damage to clumps of weak and numerous enemies like spiders and zombies. It also seems to work well against gobbos. I have been mixing in three rookies with fire lances into my more experienced shieldbros to great effect. Fire lances are also useful in chokepoints, which have become more common due to fortifications. I prefer them over boar spears because fodder lack the stamina to take advantage of spear wall and can't hit anything anyways.

I think slaves are way too cheap for the value they bring. For half the price of a smoke bomb, you can get a warm body on the field that can provide all kinds of utility even if their stats suck. There's no reason not to have several slaves in your reserve to fill in for injured bros.

Also, this expansion should be renamed Bags & Belts because of how ridiculously powerful consumable throwables (that you can just buy from a store) are. Smoke bombs remove the need for archers to have zone-of-control escaping skills, and fire bombs make zombie encounters a breeze early game.

Has anyone managed to win the tournament on expert yet?
I'm in the process of trying.

So far my first attempt was getting to the third round but taking way too many loses.

Attempt two I will add consumables and shift some gear around and I think I can get better chances.

That mercenary fight is brutal. It's already hard as it is but I got it in the last round twice in a row. It probably takes very high levels of autism to beat it, or 5 superbros. Or maybe I'm just bad.

Either way, I'm trying to find a video of someone doing it but looks like streamers haven't even tried it yet.
