What setting/world would you choose for a Torment's successor???

It would be interesting if it is set during the blood war, maybe on Avernus. Playing a soul that can't be affected by both the demons and the devils, maybe god blessed or something, maybe a felled deity that doesn't remember it.

So what would you have liked to see in it?

Mechanus, except its portrayed as an infinite version of a brazilian notary office where everyone is forever seeking to fulfill increasingly arcane documentation requirements. Every time you do, the higher Modron hierarchy you go. To become Primus, ruler of Mechanus, one must write all possible definitions of what an RPG is, therefore defining the boundaries of Reality.

It would make sense if it were set in some place that nobody remembers. A set of forgotten realms if you will.

Baldur's Gate, except Wild Magics are tearing it apart into the multiverse of possibilities -- i.e. the Hervé Caen, David Gaider and Swen Vicke interpretations of the city. Uses Modern Sonic the Hedgehog mechanics to seamlessly transition between Infinity Engine, D:OS and Diablo-like game worlds. Runs on Unity.

Hommlet, except you never get to go to the Temple of Elemental Evil and its actually Groundhog Day. Every day your characters use newfound knowledge of the people of Hommlet to somehow make their lives more banal and frustrating to the player. The only winning move is to forego adventuring and settle into the village, thereby become part of the hivemind and triggering New Game+: where you torture an RPG Codex reviewer into suicide with further banality.

It should be multiplanar in keeping with the bizarre and unusual feel of the original. Mechanus, Avernus, Mount Celestia, Limbo...

Pandemonium, except its a magical realm comprised of the most perverted writings of Edward Greenwood, kept private because not even he would exploit his ridiculously lopsided agreement with WotC in order to get those horrible things published. Your name is Chastity and you're a repentant succubus.

So what would you have liked to see in it?

A bleak world of fallen dreams and failed revolutions, an industrial neighbourhood of a wounded city on an archipelago divided by white emptiness that causes people to loose theirs minds.

Also, the main character should be an amnesiac cop. And a complete fuckup.

I do agree that disco is the closest thing that we got to torment. Still it would be nice to see an actual torment.....sequel or something similar.
