I mean the biggest problem I've found is that Angela's plan isn't idealistic, it's just stupid. There isn't much moral agonizing when the only alternative to the Patriarch is an idiot with a plan that is at best hopelessly naive and at worst catastrophically bad.

Shadenuat With regards to The Patriarch, aside from the prison, the stuff that is supposed to make you think of him as a tyrant is

Driving out the Dorsey family for wanting elections and then making up another excuse for it. Selling off people to be chopped to pieces by a crazy cult in exchange for security.

I agree that in the context of the game's world he's not that bad at all. Everything being either over the top carnage and/or lulz is both annoying and detrimental to the plot.

I haven't played Tyranny or any of the first person Fallouts but yes, having a plot about choosing factions isn't original. I just prefer it greatly over "you need to get the mcguffin to save the universe because magical nonsense".

The game didn't become easy for me as quickly but I have no reason to doubt you on that.

Second I knew but first one, idk in postapoc I can only imagine it with warrior chieftains making another chieftain ala dark age tribes. Even the premise of it in postapoc is funny. So imo Patriarch did nothing wrong :M

i finished quest and lol Patriarch didn't even send people by the lottery or something but convicts/criminals. this guy is bestest Dictator ever.

(...) btw what made devs put that "events are all fictional" in beginning of gaem? is it cause bad patriarch not totaly bad, good daughater not good, and local savages are savage murderers? or is it because of honkhonks?? i dont get it

Do you really need this explained? Need to cover all your bases vs SJWs and outrage culture leftists and danger hairs.

The choice for Angela Deth plans was really superficial, first, as soon as you arrive on Colorado, the Patriarch helps your ass when there was nothing forcing him to not just send your sorry ass back, he doesnt act like an injust ruler but someone that must do shit decisions on a shit world and is reasonable, he even made deals with independent factions that are weak and the game implies he could crush them as it is what Liberty wants. Yeah, sure, he was a warlord not much different from other warlords but he was actually successful into creating a Estate, that is as much as you can ask for on a place with hoving gangs of murdering psychos everywhere.

Sure, on a place where people are used to solve disputes over power and resources with guns, democracy would work really well..., for democracy to work, at least the parties involved must agree that murdering each other is wrong at bare minimum. The rangers would need to do the same shit decisions that the Patriarch did for things to not fall apart and end as dictators as well.

Alright, before I consider buying this game... are there ways to mod the font and paragraph height? The font itself and spacing between lines puts me off completely.

This isn't even taking in to account how Angela's plan involves breaking an unrepentant slaver, murderer, and gang leader out of prison (likely necessitating the murder of dozens of guards in the breakout who are literally just doing their job), getting him to unite the machete rape gangs on the border of Colorado to force The Patriarch to abdicate and then just...letting them go to conquer Kansas, likely to spread further pain and suffering to its inhabitants, and just...hoping that they won't become a problem for Colorado?

The entire Angela Deth plot and yea subsequent missions are retarded and poorly written and implemented.

The first time I actually went to breakout that nigger guy underground, I thought, wow, Angela deth is right.. patriarch is bad!

Then I found out the guy is like a serial murderer, rapist and cannibal gang leader.... wait.. WHAT? and u want me to free him to he can go kill more innocent people... im sorry what?

I left that nigger hanging in the basement.. and I restarted my save games

Again, there’s supposedly a way to make Angela’s coup workable if you can get the Marshals and the Hundred Families on side (possibly also the Gippers and Monster Army). According to Beekers this is the hardest to get ending.

Makes sense. Patriarch is obviously the safe bet; Angela’s plan is idealistic but poorly thought out. You should have to lay a lot more groundwork with the local heavyweights to get a decent ending from the coup.

They should make joining liberty a more valid third option, help her in exchange for supplies or something. At least she looks like she is going to be a real capable dictator.

It would make more sense than Angela's "we'll destroy the current government and see what happens next, fingers crossed something good will happen" bullshit.

Angela is just what the US government in real life pretend to be: we throw countries into chaos and destroy people's life because some “evil thing" their government do all the time, but we are for the people's good, really you have to believe me.

On topic of cool synergies.

I have a nerd tech guy, with no "real weapon" skillz.
Brainwave Destabilizer is great vs close enemies out of cover (cone aoe "dominates" them for 2 rounds) and the Sonic Emitter is obviously very handy also (cone stun for 1 round, no miss risk).

But the offensive Weird Science weapons (like the Meson Cannon from Bizzare) seem to do paltry damage, right? Well, kinda true, but its apparently possible to improve it a little with... the Explosives skill. No, it won't directly buff their (energy) damage, but Mortar Blast will make their attacks a (delayed) huge aoe and Irradiate enemies. Also the Strike attack of these arms (which builds up pretty fast) is an aoe with Irradiated effect. Which apparently debuffs enemy HP by 30%! Pretty neat!

I wonder now if High Impact could make every direct Weird Science Launcher hit a crit.

I understand but I am curious what devs think their controversial writing actually is :shittydog:

Morality in quests in this game is pretty funny though

- save us rangers we 2 innocent womyn
- then where are all 20 level mercenaries from?
- we took some money to make settlement for poor catholics
actually we lendedit
actually we stole it from big honcho
...and then I gambled all of it in casino

I laffed at funny quest as I gave them into 7 years of slavery back to arrived honcho and went back to my tractor snow removal gameplay

On topic of cool synergies.
On topic of synergies, i didn't go indepth but I feel like INT is best combat stat at least for highest hp bloat difficulty :Myou want to do steady, reliable damage, both single target and aoe. Luck also looks fun tho. My favorite gun is just a pistol with +max range scope, favorite stat INT, and does it make sense to give Sneak Shit to everyone including level 10 perk? well I guess it does if you have Explosives, it's just that a sneak specialist with giant missile launcher (and 1 point of strength) didn't feel logical to me  then again rambo did it, and sabouteurs with explosives do exist eh.

Is it poorly written if Angela is canonically below average intelligence? :M

Interesting question, I suppose not. But I'm pretty sure that we are led to believe, that Angela is a level-headed ranger with the heart in the right place about things, albeit abit controversial methods.. but wasteland 3 just goes hard on that, which is a big turn off for most players I would imagine.

If not, then that's just blatant miss from the wasteland writers and poor communication to the players

Well, not everyone. Just 1 character can open. But I do think that works well with a Rocket Launcher and Explosives. Although later in the game, an OP shotty with doubled range could work wonders also.
Good for a Leader btw, with the multikill crit bonus for the entire party.

Angela deth plot feels like it doesn't belong in the game.
Someone who has been around as long as she has should understand that there's no black and white in the wasteland. What the patriarch built is far better than most of the alternatives.
What did the rangers build? An irradiated blast site?

I'd have to see for myself but in the Wasteland 3 prequel novella they make it clear she's brash, unable to think long-term, and completely unsuited for leadership

Yeah, I put him in the ground the moment I found what he was. Also, when Angela
tells me we were dumb fucks for killing the literal human trash, I wish I had a response involving a machine gun down that cunt's throat.

I guess luckily my game bugged out and registered him as KIA instead of me killing him so Angela didn't tell that to me.

You must have just not noticed, because she tells you something like "since you dumb fucks couldn't protect him" if you tell her he didn't make it out. I killed him too, I can't remember if there's even an option on admitting you off him. Anyway I told him he didn't make it out and she called us dumb fucks for not protecting him lol.

Yeah totally broken.

Getting Valor, spoke to robots, accepted the Regan upload quest, accept all quests in this area, including stuff in white house. Went back sabotaged all three terminals, the statue blew up. No on attacked or anything happened. Journals update to notify the Godfiers or whatever they are called for an attack, I did not complete this part. Went into the western whitehouse, plug in the chip, upload the Regan AI to the Commune of Robots, the Nancys attacked me as expected.

Took forever to clear up the place and had a few slowdowns because this game is a broken mess. Got that done, went back to the Robots they were like you killed one of us now we hate you (WTF!? - what the fuck I uploaded Regan) - the other faction didn't attack either.

I go to leave the Gods attack, and I fight outside of the White House, cleared them, major tom died. Manage to get Valor back alive.

WTF is wrong with this game, how did the Robot shit fail!?

Robots are weird because it feels like if you do 1 major thing wrong you fail even though lead robot recites 99 other things he likes you for.
