Just like Hollywood he figued big names would sell the product. Sometimes stars just end up playing themselves and ruining the movie which is usually based on a book. Plenty of games, I imagine, are not what the creators wanted.

How many big name game publishers of old are now gone or on the dumping blocks?

Thomas "BrotherNone" Beekers is Senior Narrative Designer from July: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-beekers-60847b21/

From "Creative Producer" to full creative role. He is still in Wasteland 3 team apparently.

Heh, he became Lead Narrative Designer from April. Also he put WL3 in the past project list on his Twitter profile. Is he now Lead Writer of AAA action RPG? Or maybe another secret project.

Choplifter 2020 (save the BLM from the TRUMP)?

Seriously, I do wonder what's next after W3 DLC, and tweaks.

I think Wasteland 4 is possible, Microsoft is after cheap fodder for their GamePass as their ultimate goal is to ditch consoles and win the fight for the NetFlix of gamming and unfortunately, they cant just fill the thing with AAA first party games or they will go bankrupt, also, they cant trust other big publishers to keep support of their system so they need first party games. It doesnt make sense to buy InXile for them to make a AAA game, the Wasteland Ip isnt that known to make a mass market shooter out of it.

Microsoft wouldn't go bankrupt if they put a golden goose in everyone's oven.

I don't know what happens next obv., just throwing shit on the wall. I just don't see inXile making a W4 that's exactly the same as the previous two. It's more likely they aren't gonna do anything with the IP for a while.

I thought someone said they are working on another project as well beside Wasteland or is that wrong?

If they make another Wasteland, I hope its not with the rangers again.

They’re hiring for a AAA RPG. Dunno if it will be a 3D Wasteland ala Fallout 3/NV or if they’ll make a new IP but something is in the works.

We don't know what WL3 team will be working beyond its DLCs, but we know that inXile's other team has been working on an unannounced AAA RPG.

Everything we know about it I think.
  • Singleplayer, first-person, action, open-world.
  • They say it's "something brand new", suggests a new IP. The image seems fantasy-ish.
  • Creative Director is Chad Moore, ex-Troika and ex-Carbine. He joined inXile on January last year. Jason Anderson is Principal Designer apparently, not director as previously known.
  • They've been hiring a number of developers who worked at other AAA studios, notably ex-Blizzard producer Ray Cobo.

Looks pretty science fantasy, have to stay out of the way of tradfant (Avowed) and space sci-fi (Outer Worlds).

Yeah, the sphere at the top looks like a Death Star. Looks like something out of Numenera actually.

Chad Moore looks like he worked on Wildstar for arguably close to a decade and ran that into the ground, possibly as early as on release.

I don't know what a "Principal" designer is, is this new (tm) industry language because "lead" is now offensive?

Anytime I see a company get a Blizzard producer and act like that is a good thing, I just shake my head.

To me it looks like a tennisball from a microscope, but otherwise yeah, there’s a Numenera vibe to it.
