A,B,C all seem like good investments. Tournaments seem like an extravagance.

A - we've been attacked, might as well get started on improving defenses ASAP
B - cheap upgrade and we can capitalize on our church rep

pricey but just look at these as investments ok

A war is coming.
B we are already sucking up to them.
C war is coming.
D prestige, money, connections, a wise investment.

A,B,C all seem like good investments. Tournaments seem like an extravagance.

On one hand, more money, on the other we might get involved in all sorts of shady deals. But still more money.

Could this be an "Emperor's new clothes" situation and the whole thing is a fucking scam, and they are buying monopoly rights for us to seem legitimate but when their product gets revealed as bullshit there will be politicool repercussions for us?

Honestly probably not but it is fun to speculate :^)

Moreover, even if this is true, 4k right now is more important than some minor future political scandal methinks

A) Send them to the dungeons for making me lose time on such trivial matters.
B) Gobbard rightfully owns the right to work on the land.
C) Leyn rightfully owns the right to work on the land.
D) Strip them of the right to plow the land and rent it for more profit.
E) Order them to build a fence dividing the land, sharing the expenses between them.
F) Order them to leave and never bother me again with such small matters again.
G) Order them to settle this with a public duel

We should be pretty good on money now. Main thing seems to be that they don’t agree on who should pay for the fence... with that settled by our call though we ought to be fine and just end up with some initial grumbling that’s eventually paid off by them not destroying each others’ crops or goats. Seems perfectly fair and just and does not discourage petitioners and make us out to be some tyrant. It’s tough to listen to these bullshit cases but the chilling effect throwing them in jail or otherwise truly punishing them on the matter like with the renting could mean we don’t get reports we’d be very interested in hearing about later.

That being said the obvious solution would be to hold up their land by the legs in front of them, and suggest that it should be bisected with a blade such that both claimants may receive a half. Then, we would tell which one of them is the land's true mother based on their reactions.

A) Do nothing. The caravans should be able to protect themselves.
B) Compensate them.
C) Allocate more troops for the purpose of patrolling the roads.
D) Allocate more troops and let compensation be settled by the High Court.
E) Allocate more troops and pay for compensation.
F) Convince the envoy that perhaps Lord Dulsen could help with this matter.

I like the social option since we’re geared for it but I think D is probably best. We should step up patrols since we don’t want a plague of bandits to interfere with any of the lucrative trade we signed up on but rather than just paying out to someone who conplained immediately we should establish what’s going on in some legal proceedings.
