Jokes aside, I don't know if one of the developers is still here but the game is not very balanced. It would make more sense if police would only be able to arrest you from the backside. And it would be nice if they would fight you once in a while instead of spamming "Arrest". Also please add a fast forward button, I cannot stay through the civilian animations any longer waiting for their "dummy turn" to end. The levels are already repetitive enough, but I understand you are a small team on a tight budget.

Yes, I'm still here. We're working on a full AI remaster/balance fix as we speak. In the future you should actually feel like the enemies have at least half of a brain in many situations. Currently it's scheduled in patch 3 (because it requires intense testing), but as with all in development, everything is subject to change. The police is only able to arrest a unit from the front if they are disoriented or knocked out. Otherwise the arrest requires them to get to the backside of the target. There was a bug in the police AI, that causes them to favour arrest almost exclusively. That is already fixed, and will be in patch 2 (patch 1 came out yesterday, and it was the fixes from about a week before the launched game, so no community reported bug fixes and balances yet). I'll make a mention to our tech team, that the civilians' turn could be faster.

In patch 2 we're also doing a lot of work on Heat balancing, because it seems to be a game stopper for many players. Obviously we're fixing game breaking stuff first, which there are luckily only few. Give us a few days, and we'll start updating the roadmap for upcoming changes. We're also quite active in the steam discussion forums, so feel free to report bugs and opinions etc there, to make sure they get better noticed by us. Balancing work (and player feedback) is really important to us, and when everything starts run smoothly enough, we'll start considering possible feature updates.

Those decisions belong to the publisher, but in my opinion early access would not have been the right call. Strategy games are not really suited for early access, unless you release a bare bones game, and keep adding features after that. Early access is also better for multiplayer strategy games, where you fight a match, and then start another. Company of Crime is "all or nothing" kind of package. I doubt that players would have had the patience to keep playing the game without all its features present.

Company of Crime - Update #2 is out!

Greetings everyone!

The second update for Company of Crime has been released. This one brings a lot of gameplay changes and balancing based on the feedback we have received from our community, together of course with several big fixes. You can read the full changelist below.

Once again, we would like to thank all of you who have already provided feedback - it's a great help to us in order to improve the game and make it better for everyone!
Update 1.0.2.1051 - Changelog

Added
  • Barbershops now have a daily heat removal of -1/-2/-3
  • Tailors now have a daily heat removal of -1/-2/-3
  • Additional Exit zone on the roof in Lumberjack’s Foot


Changed
  • Laundry daily heat reductions changed from -1/-2/-3 to -2/-3-4 respectively
  • Residential daily heat reductions changed from -1/-2/-3 to -3/-4/-5 respectively
  • HQ daily heat reductions changed from -1/-2/-3/-4 to -2/-3/-4/-5 respectively
  • Bull rush stamina damage decreased from 3-5 to 1-2
  • Starting respect value in Newham changed to 20
  • All districts (excluding Newham) have a starting value of 5 to both fear and respect
  • Heat multipliers for Bordellos and Residential areas dropped to 0.5x. This should help a bit with bottle-necked areas with one exit
  • Respect requirement for auto-resolves dropped from 50 to 35 per district
  • Influence gain from extortion missions was increased from 10/20/30 to 12/24/36 respectively
  • Maximum heat accumulation per tactical mission capped at 400 max (one full bar)
  • Bandage unlocked at the beginning
  • Evidence is now dropped when police are called instead of arriving
  • Remove Audio Quality from Settings (All audio as high quality)

  • Harding’n’Sons had enemies spawning in inaccessible area
  • Can’t change units in Crew selection when there is 6 units
  • Brook’s Home - level had a table that make progressing in the level impossible
  • The Tiger had a enemy spawn point inside a shelf


Known Issues

Another update for Company of Crime is live NOW!
This time we added random loot pickups, reworked the AI and fixed some more issues! You can read the full changelist below.

Update 1.0.3.1057 - Changelog

Added
  • NEW FEATURE: Random loot can now be found in missions. The players can even get access to narcotics and guns they haven’t researched yet.

Changed
  • FULL AI RE-WORK: Enemies are now much smarter when making their decisions.
  • Robbery now has multiple loot targets, and the amount of money gained depends on how many targets the player manages to steal
  • Slaughterhouse mission now starts with crew selection screen, instead of going directly into the mission

Fixed
  • Some players faced an issue where upon loading the game, they got all the unlock and objective messages again, and their game state started from the beginning. The players who encountered this bug still have to go through all the messages for the FIRST TIME they load the game, but after that the save file will fix itself.
  • When entering the Slaughterhouse story-mission on the police side, player units were not healed as they should have been.
  • Buying Hidey-Hole costs now 1£ as it should

Known Issues
  • If all friendly units are grappled and unable to move, the game thinks mission is failed
  • If you finish all objectives with all units on the exit zone, the game sometimes crashes
  • Order units can sometimes pick up evidence, and leave the mission, soft-locking the game
  • Game doesn’t work correctly on some resolutions
  • Entering some story missions will remove all equipped items from units
  • Disorientation isn’t removed sometimes from units in missions

Yet another update for Company of Crime is now available for you to download and enjoy!
This is the biggest content update so far and focused on Quality of Life updates and improvements such as the ability to rename your units, improving UI and re-balancing the Heat mechanic to allow more aggressive playstyle. You can read the full changelist down below.

  • Player can now change the name of the units
  • Auto-resolve added for police campaign
  • Enemy count depends now on mission type, location level and location type

Hello Everyone!

We bring you a small hotfix for Company of Crime that fixes some cursor issues that some players were experiencing and a new resolution verification.

  • Partial cursor area when resolution is changed
  • Lock cursor to the viewport when playing with fullscreen mode
  • Check saved resolution that it is valid, if not then use default resolution
