KCD's budget was about $36M.
actally around 18 million USD.
That 36mil figure was disproven by Dan

That's the same order of magnitude as Deadfire, Disco Elysium, and a bunch of others that nobody considers AAA.

Good job though, getting something that big with those kinds of production values done for that kind of budget, Vavra clearly did something right.

It was very cheap considering the production values and scope; there is a reason why Dan joked he could make Call of Duty killer for 6 million
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-08-21-with-usd6m-you-can-compete-with-call-of-duty

He cited CD Projekt Red, which has said the combined development and marketing budget for The Witcher III was $81m, before hinting that his own company's title - crowdfunded medieval adventure Kingdom Come: Deliverance - had cost less than $10m but aims to satisfy the same audience.

"You can do AAA games [for much less] nowadays. If I were making a first-person shooter... $5m to $6m and I can compete with Call of Duty," he said. "If you add $50m for marketing, of course."

(that "less than $10m" was year before release and without marketing cost included, the total cost incl. marketing was around those 18)

KCD was a very garage-style production, started at 20 people, grew to some 60 after kickstarter, peaked at around 110 at launch. Now Warhorse has around 160.

I watched interview with Warhorse lead designer and lead QA yesterday; the QA lead mentioned that they never had more than 20 testers, while Rockstar has around 400 in credits, and both are roughly 150 hour games (funnily enough my playthrough of KCD incl. all DLCs on hardcore mode took me 200 hours, while RDR2 took me 150, both played completionist style).

Of all the gangs, the freaks cyber-implant dudes are way-above and beyond better looking in art and design than the rest.

Honestly not TOO stoked about the look of the gangs, they look too fragmented and just off, like crazy themepark with no clear direction. Some future cowboys? future yakurza on crackcocaine? Boxer niggers? wut? spanish generic gang that could actually be in a gta 6 game..

uhm yeah ok. Still the cyber implant gang is the only one that really looks like it actually belongs in a cyberpunk game... maybe im just seeing it wrong, and it makes more sense when u play the game

He pretty much confirmed that 36 millions is a total development cost along with marketing. And Daniel Vavra sure likes to buy some advertisement and positive reviews. Even the most blatant sellouts of russian gaming journo circle praised KCD like no tomorrow to the point of creating the opposite effect, negative reception.

Codex gang, codex gang:

Citizens_for_Decency.png

They are all clean cut Caucasian men between 20 to 30 years old. They are a fringe element that operates with the tacit approval of the main body of the Citizens of Decency. They attack punkers, but they also target people of different races and religions, dispensing broad hatred. High on their list; longhairs, people with cyberware, anyone who looks like an edgerunner; particularly if they look like they can't fight back effectively. The thugs are big on picking on single people or outnumbered groups. They are not so tough in a stand up fight.

False, that 36mil was figure estimated by Forbes that Dan said wasn't accurate, it was much less.
If you have any proof of bought reviews, I will be glad to see it. I don't accept Tales From the Ass as proof though.
Buying advertisments is called marketing.

Is this a joke?
Only ones that look cool are the Maelstroms, the rest look like a bunch of cosplayers, middle class guys cosplaying criminals is what PnP cyberpunk is anyway, so I'm not surprised by it. Also, VoodooBoys was an all white gang, the 6th Patriot gang is also pretty diverse for people who are against imigration, guess this must be a CDPR preemptive anti twitter psycho protection measure.

In the world today, machete rape isn't an exclusive white privilege anymore.

On another note, I remembered that Man Machine Interface in the "director's cut" version had a few "hardcore porn" shots, something I'm sure our friend Comrade Goby would be pleased by.

The original 1989-1990 manga had those from the start, not just Man-machine Interface.

Well they definitely gave her more african blood, this is evident not only from the skintone, but the kinky (shaved) hair.

Impressive, considering Shirow's drawing style from that time was quite prosperous.

His style went from this

to this.
