While Steam randomly censors VN games because they hate cute girls, while allowing hideous gay and/or furry games with little issues, this game somehow is now available in Steam. It's also an actually fun game to boot! A gamepad is highly recommended though.

Killed first boss, the games seems piss easy so far.

Montezuma's Revenge "reboot"... by the original creator Robert Jaeger.

Remaster graphics look awful. And classic graphics look very off with uneven pixel density.

It's already out on mobile btw.

Heh, speaking of a remaster by the original creator. Port of Chip's Challenge 1 is now free.

He also updated his spiritual successor:

One new release sale in the form of

which I can best describe as the unexpected lovechild of Doom and Crypt of the Necrodancer.

And few update related sales:

A very addictive little roguelite that recently hit 1.0, was already fantastic in EA, still on sale for a couple days more. Beautiful art and brilliant voice acting voice acting.

A traditional roguelike about spellcrafting that just got it's first major (Early Access) patch. Pretty rave reviews so far.

English language options just added. I'm yet to play it, but I understand it to be another 2D MnB-like.

I love that we're seeing more titles like this. Not straight up porn, but still comfortable with sexuality.

Steam said they wouldn't be the taste police, then Rape Day happened and that statement was quickly shoved aside. Worse, RD is not even good anyway.

In any case, British Codexers may be interested in this obscure game.

Please post thoughts.

Avadon is the streamlined version of Avernum when Mr. Vogel stopped giving a fuck and was chasing the magic Steam dragon. So yeah, the Avernum game series is IMHO miles better than the Avadon game series in every respect. Writing, character development, itemization, dungeon design, story, encounter design etc.

Low Magic Age is alright for the discounted price. The game is basically an hobbyist/amateur attempt at creating a mix between DnD and Battle Brothers with Darkest Dungeon style dungeon exploration. That being said the gameplay is more simplistic than the games it aspires to emulate. While it is in a playable state, as of yet it is not feature complete. As with all low key Early Access titles it's a roll of the dice if this game turns into Vaporware or gets finished some day (after all, it's in Early Access since January 2017). But again for the discounted price I feel like you would get your money's worth whether it will be completed one day or enters development hell.

Great to know. I played about eight hours of Avadon and always felt like a half-assed game. I'll give Avernum a whirl.

Thanks for the breakdown. I saw it on GOG for $14 and thought to just get this at half price.

I was reluctant to post this because this is from one of the labels of PlayWay S.A., the ultimate vaporware publisher, but it looks very 90s so I had to. (Also it claims it will come out in 2 months, believe or not.)

CyberTaxi.

As a taxi driver you have to complete dozens of various missions for different factions and gain access to further districts of Hindenburg city. During your dangerous roam you will have an opportunity to buy various weapons, shields and gadgets for your taxi. During your journey you will come across hundreds of customers - talk with them in order to get valuable information. Perhaps you may have a chance to survive and escape this unsafe post-apocalyptic urban area.

KEY GAME FEATURES:
  • Complete over 300 random missions in 4 different districts!
  • Earn money to purchase dozens of weapons and repair your cab!
  • Select your favorite color and customize your taxi!
  • Gigantic playing environment set in a dark-noir futuristic city!
  • Speak with various customers to find out more about dystopian future!
  • An ironic comics-like graphics style and humorous visuals!
  • Combines best elements of FPS, car racing games and demolition derbies!
  • Search for hidden collectibles and additional activities around the city!
  • Cool, cyber-punk and funky synth-wave music tracks included!
  • Fatally eject customers who offend you!
  • All above… and a lot more awaits!

Year 2128. The corrupted Gambricorp organization has led mankind to the verge of self-destruction due to new types of drugs which turned residents of European cities into lunatic maniacs. Once a noble town, Hindenburg city transformed into ruined metropolis which has been contaminated by overwhelming level of pollution, high crime rate and illegal drugs. In their madness, residents have equipped their hover vehicles with deadly weapons and explosive charges in order to wreak havoc on the littered streets of Hindenburg. Many people have decided to become criminals and forgot about their conscience...

PS One more thing, you can buy a buzzsaw and mount it on the hood of your cab! Sounds good, right? :)

Have a nice night!

I like the look of it, anyone played it?

I played about 60 hours, most of which with a friend, and it was fun. It's entirely multiplayer, and a microphone is required, as you will need to communicate with other squad members. Sound is very important. I recommend you play with headphones.

The combat is slow and difficult. Stick with your squad or you'll die. There is a chain of command within the game, where players report to squad leaders; squad leaders report to lieutenants; and lieutenants report to a commander. I haven't played in a while, so I don't know the extent of new vehicles in the game. Last I played, there were tanks.

One of my favorite memories is blasting the ISIS theme song on local chat, while me and my terrorist teammates rode into the battle on the back of a pickup truck. Playing with other people can be fun, while there are the occasional basement-dwelling marine LARPers who'll scream if a medic doesn't revive him.

Should you play it? Yes, if you like a collaborative, military-based, hardcore, first-person shooter. If you like run-and-gun, shoot-em-up popamole shit, then this game isn't for you.

Squad has left Early Access

I like the look of it, anyone played it?

It's a game that tries to combine slow paced tactical mil-sim like Arma and twitch shooter gameplay.
It succeeds in my opinion, as you get to the shooting part quite fast, while the fire exchange distances are still quite big and most maps give a lot of space for manoeuvrers.

I preferred when it was a little more infantry focused and feel like they added too many vehicles, but it still works if it's properly balanced.
Mic is a must, best played when joining some community, albeit playing random servers can still be fun.

I wouldn't say it's hardcore, as you respawn quite fast and a single medic can still pick up a whole team (unless they changed it again to bring back real deaths).

The Henchmen, looks like a mix of GTA 1/2 and Hotline Miami.

The Game
The Henchmen is a pulp-inspired, 90s fueled top-down, action retro open-world game. Set in the fictional city of New Queens, The Henchmen blends classic PS1-era games experiences, such as Driver and the first Grand Theft Auto with a modern approach, producing a unique experience.

The game is also designed from the ground up to be a co-operative experience, as the game can be played both in single-player and local 2 players co-op (both shared screen and split-screen), with story elements and missions changing depending on the number of players.

The Story
During the late sixties, the Castellano Mafia family had complete control over the City of New Queens: They Controlled the guns, drugs, and sex workers that roamed the streets.
This started to change, however, as the Homura Yakuza Syndicate started to chip away at The Castellano empire in the late 1970.
Anthony, the new leader of the family, is forced to rely on his henchmen to get back what was his, starting a bloody gang war in the streets of New Queens.

The game is set in two time periods: In the 1970s you play as Rachel, a young single mother who wants to quit the gangster life for the sake of her daughter, while also being both Castellano’s best gun and lover.

In the 1990s, you deal with the aftermath of the gang wars, as you take control of Samuel, an ex-army man who left his job to help his brother Jamal who owes money to the wrong kind of people.

What we’re planning:

-8 to 10 hours long main campaign

-Unlockable Hard Mode, side activities and collectibles

-Entire game playable in both singleplayer and local two players co-op

-Original Soundtrack and cutscene artwork

-Explore the city in its two time periods: A snowy 1970s rendition and a hot, more modern 1990s version.

-Indoor and outdoor fights, with both melee weapons and firearms

Got to admire the determination and doggedness with which devs keep trying to emulate Spire despite repeated failure.
