From Belgium based studio Warcave. Seemingly based on their own city Ghent.

Lead a squadron of Mercenaries into the accursed city of Grant to aid a struggling resistance against a deadly cult of fanatics. Explore deep into the city to eradicate a madness inflicting fog that shrouds the streets in this thrilling alternate history Turn-Based Strategy RPG!

Main Features:
  • Explore the ruined streets of Grant, a 17th century city based on the architecture of the Low Countries of Northwestern Europe. Search every corner to discover hidden sidequests, treasure troves, and recruitable characters
  • Fight using an alchemy system based on the old concept of Humorism. Master the four different instabilities and combine them with Catalyst Attacks to deal massive damage to enemies! Be warned, your foes will do the same to you
  • Unlock 15 playable classes, each with unique abilities and equipment. Master and combine class abilities to become the ultimate liberator of Grant
  • Approach battles on your own terms using free exploration before diving into tactical turn-based combat
  • Build and customize your team using cross class abilities and discovered equipment
  • Aid the resistance in their struggle against the Mephistian Cultists and battle beasts pulled from regional folklore
  • Uncover the history of Mephisto, a menacing Alchemist who brewed the maddening fog clouding the city
  • Choose Your Difficulty: For those who wish to see the story, the path can be gentle. For those who wish for difficulty, even the slightest mistake will be greatly punished.
We await our liberation at your hands, stranger.

Grant us our wish!

The waves of turn-based RPGs do not stop.

Yeah well it's pretty and the setting seems interesting.

A new legend is about to be written…

Your party of heroes shall descend into the accursed city of Grant and undo the horrors of a mad Alchemist in this thrilling Turn-Based Strategy, Free Exploration RPG!

Warcave is proud to announce Black Legend making it to PC, Playstation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and the Nintendo Switch early 2021.

Create your hero, form a party of sellswords and explore the 17th century streets of Grant to uncover the story of the mad alchemist Mephisto, and end his legacy. Meet survivors, embark on their quests and recruit new allies to stop the terrifying fog that plagues the city.

In combat, think ahead and rely on more than raw power. To properly fight the dreaded Mephistian cultists, one must master the art of “Humorism”. Employing the unique abilities of each class and setting up synergies between your units is vital to achieve victory.

Explore a vibrant 17th century city
The many alleys and streets of Grant are begging to be explored. To gain insight in the old days, search for survivors and listen to their stories.
Work with a small resistance group looking to end the suffering of the civilians under the rule of the cult of Mephisto.

Gear up your team
Equip your party with fine weapons and armour combinations to discover 15 unique classes. Each weapon teaches new skills, which can be mastered to permanently learn it, and even be used when changing to a different class.

Many baubles and trinkets will change the way you fight, offering a wide array of effects. Each item has a story worth learning, allowing you to piece together more about the world.

Master Humorism
Abilities cause one or more of the 4 bodily humors to go out of balance. Become a master of Rubedo, Albedo, Nigredo and Citrinitas by setting them upon enemies, then combine them with a Catalyst attack for massive damage.

Customize your Journey
Tailor your journey to your personal preferences. You decide how pleasant, or challenging, it will be. For those who wish to see the story, the path can be gentle. For those who wish difficulty, even the slightest mistake will be greatly punished.

What's the point of advertising it as "17th century" if you are going to dump your derivative fantasy shit in it?

I'd wager too lazy to study actual history and make something that's not derivative fantasy.

It doesn't advertise it as "17th century"; they are actually fairly specific in saying that the city is inspired by 17th century architecture and that the alchemy is based on the ideas of the 17th century. They might be too lazy to study history, but you're too lazy to even read.
It seems a bit counterintuitive to set the game in a city and then make it combat-focused, but we'll see.
Urban combat is best combat. Rural and wilderness fighting is just a hassle and would probably devolve into open warfare and plunder. Here we get to run around and shoot things in the city and have good excuse to stab things to death because the guns are shit.

Still seems like a waste of a city setting. Would be so much more exciting with a focus on stealth, thieving, court politics and spying on occult conspiracies, especially given the 17th century inspiration.

The voice-muffling effect gives the stream an ASMRish quality.

It seems this is yet another game where they originally just called it a strategy game and tacked on "RPG" relatively recently. Cool-looking pikemen.
