I think I bought it full price years ago, when it released. Can't say I care about it being free now, I got my money's worth all these years. That said, I would probably be more butthurt if I purchased it right now, and all I got is a paintjob.

i bought it back then full price 'cause i still had a smidge of optimism left that they can get their shit together. that optimism was killed off rather quickly, and this travesty "we'll make a 40€ expansion pack free... you get a paintjob!" is pretty much a nail in the fucking coffin, as far as i'm concerned. they won't be receiving a single cent from me (not that they care)

I think this game is always a good alternative, if Star Citizen fails. Yes they did some shady shit, but its still a good space game, for what it does. Combat is great fun, Exploration and Trading are a bit boring and it can be too much of a grind to get good ships.

Finally I reached Elite in the 3 fields (Combat - Trade - Exploration), the final combat field required me to kill 1600 Thargoid scouts - good times not...over all it takes approximately 1000 hours + to accomplish this meaningless result, such is modern life.

every day i'm tempted to come back to the game. every time i'm too scared of messing up controls, accidentally firing nearby a station or slightly scratching the paint off a wall by bumping or delaying the landing procedure a second too long, thus provoking the police, being shot to death and lose weeks worth of effort.

Also there's always the docking computer.

i tried the docking computer twice.
the first time, it went through another ship, triggering fines and police everywhere.
the second time got stuck, triggering the "you're taking too long so we'll shred you to bits" fine and police everywhere.
back when i owned a pretty disposable ship, can't remember which one. now that i own an asp explorer i'm not willing to try again. but still, i wish i'd remember how to activate a docking computer.

I think the advanced one will just teleport you into the station now, if I recall correctly?
The docking procedure is just another miniscule waste of the players time added to the pile of tiny time wasting mechanics anyway, unless you're smuggling.

i wouldn't know, i haven't played for two years now. i bought the expansion the first time it went on offer but never managed to try it because of the reasons i explained.
