Genshin Impact, i.e. Breath of the Waifu. BotW clone w/ cute anime grills and party mechanic system.

You get to content gates at higher AR in multiple ways:

- You need 2 teams for higher level abyss - at least 1 good dps, 1 healer, and 1 utility per team (gated by pulls).

- Getting character levels and skills take an absolute shitton of money and resources (gated by resin).

- Getting good artifacts take a lot of RNG (gated by resin).

Before that, in the initial... 30? hours, gacha bullshit very politely stays out of the way.

The only actual challenging content so far is Abyss and that's it.

The exploration was a little too simple for my blood, and the environmental impacts are even more underwhelming than in BoTW.

I appreciate all the work they put into NPC histories, the lore, character interactions and backstory you unlock, but it all just felt too simple. The company always go beyond the normal efforts that a gacha game entitles (just look at Honkai and the fact they added a top down shooter story mode just for an event), and I don't think the gacha itself limits progression - but it is still an inherently grindy game. Scratch that I imagine building a decently balanced team is sort of gated by gacha, but I imagine they'll give out arbitrary fill-ins as time goes on.

Overall, the game is still held back as a gacha, and the fact that they at least had mobile in mind while making it. I didn't even complain about the awkward controls and limited world design, yet, but it is there. I wish it was something more focused purely on Consoles/PC and had a normal upfront cost, it would've likely been 10x as entertaining.

And if you don't get good characters in early pulls you are pretty much fucked. They are very stingy about giving currency after initial income from exploration dries up. Just look at recent "event" - combined final reward is 300 stones. And 1 pull costs 160 stones. Congrats for your new shiny 3* weapon.

Eh I like it enough to play it casually. Maybe 2 - 3 hours over the weekend and chill, playing with friends over Discord as well so that helps.

And I am a big weeb so it helps even more :smug:

Yes that's the best way to go about it, take your time, enjoy the sights. There's nothing at the end so don't hurry there...

Ahh... I wouldn't want to spend money on it because even if you spend $10k, you're not guaranteed to get what you want.
And looking at the meta of progression through repetition of content - it's gonna take a long time to max out anything.
It's just too bad they went too far into progression thru Gacha.

Everything else is too grindy.

the game is pretty simplicistic in every one of its aspects, but it's an overall pleasant experience. for a while. i stuck only because i pulled some A tier characters with the free pulls. not great, not terrible. damn, some of the startings must have been made crap on purpose, savagely nerfed to force spending money. that's the biggest issue, the predictable one: after a short while you go nowhere without spending money. lots of money. a five star item is assured every 100 pulls. the free stuff you get as a noob gives you 50, maybe 60 if you're pushing hard on leveling up.
i despise the graphics, colors are so bright i need a welder mask while playing, while chara design is "every npc is a crash test dummy, every male is a fag and every female is a pornololi" but without fanservice: no panties, everyone wears pants or shorts.
what's really taking the fun of the bite sized gaming sessions away is one of the daily targets: "spend 150 energy". you can have only 120 at once, which means you must play the game at least twice. also any task needs 20 points or a multiple, which means wasting points. but don't worry, they're counted also for the weekly and monthly energy spending goal, which are 100% impossible without paying. literally 100%. i spent every single point i had, 2 days to go out of 7 and i'm barely around half goal. for the weekly, the monthly is even more insane.
there isn't overleveled content because it's oblivion all over again, and all the time challenges mean that you either pull a good dps or you're out. the game will keep be the sensation of the moment for a few more weeks at best, if nothing changes it'll be fast forgotten.

So does this shit still steal all your contacts, data and soul and send it to the Chinkazoid Hive Mind? Apparently that's been "resolved" but they said the same about their little plague that is still very much fucking up the world so call me skeptical.

Looks fun otherwise.

It's all about the music and chemical reaction in your brain when you open the chests.

probably. I wouldn't trust this shit on my PC, but if I ever do break down and want to play it I could just get the PS4 version and not worry about kernel level BS. this is definitely a game that you'd want on console instead of PC just to keep it away from your personal shit.

Apparently the newly released character is so bad Chinese player are trying to fuck over the company legally:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Im...inese_is_asking_mihoyo_to_give_them_hardcopy/

It's kinda consistent with the character since he's supposed to be a God who gave up on his divinity and turned into a mortal lol
Literally no reason not to give him a buff since it's a single player game

Now that I tried him on the free trial he seems quite good. One of the best supports in game with some OP skills.
The chinks are dumb and don't know how to play the game. They just wanted him to be a DPS monster

They've been doing a good job adding new stuff regularly. I've been playing this for the past couple weeks and the free2play experience is slightly less optimal but still fun.

I feel like this game gets less love than their previous title, Honkai Impact

Latest genshin character: press e to lose some hp and hit harder. Press q to steal life around you.

Latest honkai character: can switch between 3 weapons with different combos and each their own energy bar, dash around leaving explosive clones, drop healing feathers, turn the battle stage into an orb and break it entering super mode with a fourth weapon and yet another combo and can also turn her weapon into a giant sword and ride it around and do a sick skateboard spin when riding it through jumping pads and...
